I don't think anyone in sm has improved exponentially in vocal ability like Taemin has, if it's main dancers. if you listen to him sing today, you would never imagine he started with 0 lines. Taemin is very visceral both as a performer and as a singer. proof? his entire discography especially his ballads. especifically the whole PRESS IT album is a stake to the heart, that album is very special to me, every song just hits and hits. i'm so proud of him. He is definitely the ACE of not only SM but the whole kpop. Truly the ACE of ACE

For some reason, this video made me think of the Taemin song featuring Taeyeon: If I Could Tell You. So good!
I think there was a little bit of a lost in translation type of situation with what Lee Mujin said at 13:10 about how Taemin was more interested in dancing - he said 노래 보다는 춤이었다고 which basically just means "more dancing than singing". I guess it could imply having an interest as well but he didn't directly say that. But yeah, Taemin has put A LOT of work into his singing and it really shows! He has improved so much over the years. He really is the ace ❤
I really liked Lee Mujin's and Taemin's voices together, that part where you made the comment about his restricted voice, I realized why their duet was so good. They both have really magical vibratto. Taemin has this amazing vibratto and the ultimate breathy voice, and Lee Mujin had that control, but that part, he had a really wild vibratto while keeping the voice tight. IDK I was really floored by it and then when they were harmonizing together they were both so trembly just casually as part of their singing that I couldn't even believe my ears.

Something you should know about Taemin is that he is a perfectionist. It is very important to him how he affects others. In Lives he often almost begged to be loved. When he started his solo career, he always wanted to show who he is and that he isn't just a legendary dancer. It is very important to him not to just be labeled as such. There is a Song from him out there which always had been a big role to him, it's called "Under my Skin".
It's hard to imagine, but... Taemin was really bad at singing in the beginning of his debut, so most of the parts that were even there were passed on to other members during the recording process. So in "Replay", Taemin's voice can be heard mostly only in parentheses background vocals.

also i recommend listening to jonghyun's version of clean up, so so good. feels like jongtae's voices really complement each other
