This is a Lesson to those who think that just because they have a Badge doesn't make them above the law and doesn't give them the right to do whatever the heck they want, it doesn't matter if its a deputy, a sheriff, a Officer or a Captain, When someone who goes and Abuses their Authority of the police or Texas Rangers or any other group who is meant to serve and protect innocent people deserves to get the butt kicking they deserve and a free ticket to prison.

If an officer is caught violating anyone's civil rights they are taken to court and if found guilty fired and not allowed to hold another law enforcement job in that particular state! Many cases like that! Stop living in the past. Not saying you won't find any corruption today, but when it is exposed it's not shuffled around or ignored.
@@jdearing46 Nobody is living in the past here, it's a well-documented fact. Police unions are omnipotent, especially here in Texas. Look up Lee Rakun, from San Antonio. One of the highest paid public employees after the police were unable to fire him after repeated and glaring discipline actions due to arbitration clauses that supersede any formal punishments found with evidence.
It's okay to realize you're wrong and that the system is broken. You can believe in the system and want to fix it at the same time. Look him up.

Geoffrey Lewis could do villainy when the script called for it. He was believable as a corrupt sheriff until he was taken down by Cordell Walker.
He's been a villain a few times. I think he was in an A Team episode as well, and opposite Clint Eastwood in High Plains Drifter.
Juliette Lewis is his daughter. He was in a lot of Clint Eastwood movies. He was such a good actor.
Damn right. He was such an underrated actor in my opinion, but he showed how good he was in the Clint Eastwood movies he was in, and occasional TV series guest appearances.

This episode would've been PERFECT if they had Trivette say to Walker after disarming Langley something like "Walker wait, let ME take him." And Walker steps back and replies "Be my guest" with a smile.

Awesome fight scene. Rest In Peace Geoffrey Lewis. Such a great actor and I remember him in Every Which Way But Loose with Clint Eastwood and also Devils Rejects with Rob Zombie. Geoffrey was one of a kind actor.

The problem.is back then it was more complicated than hurr durr voted for racists. Corruption in local elections was a cornerstone of this era. 40's through to late 70's it was a lot easier to cheat and intimidate because less interlinked press less automatic reports to state.

Yep. The "sundown" towns that were very prevalent pre-Civil Rights days sadly still exist in many parts of the US. Came across one in southern Texas near Houston years back. Talk about being stuck in a time warp.

Would have been better if Trivette had been the one to take down the sheriff. Would have made a better statement and had more impact on the arch of the story as whole, providing a satisfying resolution.
Definitely. I think the only reason why Walker fought him instead of Trivette was cause of Chuck Norris's ability to fight with martial arts, making his fights a lot more cooler in another way, and probably one of the reasons why people tuned in to see the show.

Thing I remember about this episode is the way Walker kept calling the sheriff by his full name. Always " Beau Langley " instead of Sheriff Langley or just Langley.
He knows that this guy didn’t deserve to be called a lawman or a cop
