  • About 300 million acres of agricultural land in the U.S. are set to change hands in the next two decades. How that land transfers - and to whom it transfers - matters. The goal of the Land Transfer Navigators program, supported in partnership by USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service, is to increase the transfer of farm and ranch land to a new generation of producers. Using an innovative approach, it supports both retiring and aspiring producers in meaningful, hands-on ways. Already, the effort is catalyzing practitioners from across the country to support equitable farm and ranch transfers.
So... What’s a “Navigator,” you might ask? A Navigator is an organization with skilled professionals who provide direct, tailored support or coaching to farmers, ranchers, and agricultural landowners on land access and transfer or related issues. These professionals play an important, often-overlooked role, and AFT is proud to be partnering with organizations and individuals from across the country.
Hear from a few Navigators who shared their thoughts at a recent training event.
