The biggest part of producing is knowing what sounds good, it can't be taught you have to hear it in your ears. I swear once you've got that down it's cake, you can literally hear the 808s in your head as soon as you lay down melodies.
Making these beats are not difficult at all. But if ur not in the right position so that they can be heard by the right people, ur just gonna be stuck making fire beats that don't go nowhere. Nick knows that whatever he makes will end up in the right hands. But i appreciate him still caring about the community 🙏
You don’t even need to be in a certain position anymore. Sure it’s easier for Nick because he’s already stablished. But anyone with a laptop and Internet is already in a great position. It’s really up to you

Bro I literally live in south africa where i don't even have electricity, I have to charge my laptop with a generator and den I can make music but I still believe in my self. I'm not comfortable at all with my situation but I still make music and watch videos like this because I just love music
Nick, what guides your bass note selections. Do you just use the ghost notes to help but anything outside of that is also fair game to use? The interaction with the melody and bass lines are always fire.
Render the sound once you've built a decent loop & start a new pattern if it's messing with your cpu. Consolidating and rendering it into a waveform will improve performance if that's why.
Then these companies want you to spend $1000 on sound selection. I got a couple FLPs in a $20 drum kit and they used all of the most expensive VSTs and effects plugins so I couldn’t even hear it 😂
