Bass Fishing After a Rain: HUGE BASS on EARLY SPRING RUNOFF!
Вставка

- Fishing for bass after a warmer than average rain in the late winter and early spring can be one of the best ways to find big bass and a huge limit of bass shallow early in the year. We've had some of our best late winter and early spring days fishing after a warm runoff, as it adds not only warmer water but color to the system causing big bass to push up into shallow water.

This often leads to newly flooded cover which makes a spinnerbait a perfect choice for this unique situation to catch big bass. Ott DeFoe shares a bunch of great tips and big fish catches on his first time out with the new Terminator P1 Pro Series Double Willow Spinnerbait fishing this scenario. A willow leaf spinnerbait is often his first choice in fishing these runoffs in shallow water with rock and wood cover.

My favorite fisherman. Need a Z , Ott , Andy, Hackney episode. Gold!
one of the few dudes actually fishing while giving tips, i mean i just watched like 4 videos with guys telling me how to fish in the rain while sitting inside a house. thanks for the video brother
Looks like a beautiful fishing spot! Very peaceful
These Appalachian highland reservoirs truly are beauty places 🌈.
@@Wired2Fish Was planning a trip to that area with my partner but sadly the border is closed for non-essential travel (from Canada)
Thanks for getting back to me much appreciated. Looking forward to the next video
Hey, Ott! I love still using a double williow bladed spinnerbaits. I, Also use a White painted double williow bladed spinner bait just to change up every so often. Do you use a stinger hook on your spinnerbaits. Sometimes bass short strike the Spinnerbait too. If that happens. I will pick up the one with the stinger hook. Then Bam! Got another Biggin! Thanks, For the laid back Bass fishing videos. Your a great Teacher of how to Bass fish. The warm rain vs cold rain brings out those bass. Just started using a Chatterbait with a upside down split tail Fluke. Putting Garlic Spike It on the tail works wonders. Give it a try. They just won't let go of the bait. Good Luck in the Tournament's. Will be watching. Shawn.
I did well yesterday with a black and blue stick bait at Boone... I'm super happy he's making videos in East Tennessee. Thank you for the content bud!
Thanks Nick. We’ll be connecting with Ott back in East Tennessee in early March so keep checking in for fresh content.
Caught my first fish on a spinner bait while bass fishing in Hiawassee last week , just happened to be a 3' muskellunge.
Here in Nebraska all we get is cold rain. Didn’t know you could have warm rain until I visited Florida.
OTT is the king of river fishing.
Ott Defoe is the best bass fishing instructor of all time. I learn so much by his videos.
No doubt! Bust out the popcorn when he is on cam!!
Ott you've always been one of my favorites. Great video.
Thanks for watching and appreciate the comment Cory.
I love your accent! Keep up the good work 👍
Got me a Jimmy Houston Legends spinnerbait already tied on, sir! I can't wait for the warm up after these days of freezing rain and sleet....I think we got a few more weeks...but its exciting - it's almost time - spinnerbaits are one of my favorite ways to catch 'em!
Man, you're painting a fun picture of the buildup to getting out and hammering down Solocanoe.
@@Wired2Fish with about a half inch of ice today and 4 more days of it predicted, I'm getting thru my watching great you tube vids like your channel! I'd say I'd prep my stuff...but that's been done for a month! Lol.
hell yeah, im also in east tn, its early spring and we just had a ton of rain... very convenient video
It's too cold here in North Texas now... can't wait to head back to the lake
Sounds like a little drive down to Rayburn is in order 😉.
@@Wired2Fish , i have to give it a try. I usually go to Ray Roberts which is one of lakes that started a national bass tournaments yesterday , I think. I just wonder how on this weather... i need to learn more cold weather bass fishing . Cheers.
Caught my first big of the year on a double willow Picasso spinnerbait in royal red craw in dirty water. I start getting big bites in OK on the red and orange kicker blades with cole slaw skirts or red skirts and cold/silver blades.
Same. We made a video on this exact setup last year. ua-cam.com/video/PCb_ZS0vX1U/v-deo.html
I'm in Oklahoma too. Try an Okie blade some time.
@@davidrussell9290 i dp throw the war eagle finesse with an oklahoma blade on it. Have some hack attack selects with them to.
@@nickcavazos5718 I was going to suggest that exact one!
I Second this..the spinnerbait is always a productive lure. I use booyah spinnerbaits
It never gets old. Does it?
@@Wired2Fish definitely not it’s a must have in the tackle box... give me your opinion on having a hook as a trailer.. I personally didn’t like using that I...ended up killing a northern pike because hook went in too deep...
Beautiful fishing spot .
East TN has some amazing fisheries.
@@Wired2Fish I wanted to move there but I’m a union worker and it literally cut my pay in half . Broke my heart . i can only go when i retire .
@@gerryhazelton9569 im sorry bro
@@tnyst7660 ty man life gives you what you need thou .
That combo looks sickkk bruh 😝
Ive been killing them with colorado spinnerbait, slow slowy retrieving in dirty water, just ticking the top of grass.
Nice! What part of the country?
@@Wired2Fish definitely not New England 😂😂
@@Wired2Fish northern CA
Awesome love your channel I appreciate your content some of those bass were really nice chunkers great job!!!
I fish smith lake in Alabama, run ins are epic . I use jerk baits and flukes.
Exact conditions this morning yeah I’m going out thanks
Spinnerbaits are $$$$. I throw nuttin but double willows. Great video.
💯 👍
Awesome video.
Thanks!
Thanks man I never Thought of shaking it
Glad you were able to pluck out a little useful content. Good luck!
@@Wired2Fish always love all your videos
Love when they freight train a spinnerbait, can't get away with no trailer where I fish tho
Yeah, he was fishing with the trailer but we didn't have the same bait when filming the UWs. Ott is a big fan of the simple twin tail trailers.
Chattanooga Tennessee 🤘
Nice.
When he’s saying 55 degrees water is that surface an foot down
OTTER!!!😎🇺🇸
the dude is always catching. Here's his latest video --> ua-cam.com/video/1srGm4t_JAg/v-deo.html
@@Wired2Fish Yes he is.
I seent it!!! 🤣
Yea I need to work on my boat but -9 deg says no
Why do some LMBs get those orange eyes?
“Double Willa”
You mentioned that above 55 degrees you consider warm water (to retrieve baits faster) and below 55 degrees is colder (to retrieve baits slower). If the temperature is above 55 degrees but the thermocline is lower in the water column does that change your retrieve speed? How about the temp being below 55 degrees but the thermocline is higher in the water column?
The thermocline isn't a factor in the shallow water fishing situation covered in this video. In the winter or early spring, it's oftentime absent altogether (depending on latitude) until warmer warmer water starts the stratification process. But for shallow water prespawn fishing, the fish we're targeting are shallow with similar water temps. If the runoff water is warmer, then these little feeder creeks can be a magnet for bass looking for a warmup (run-ins).
@@Wired2Fish something else to consider: in most waters, thermoclines don't really set up 'hard' until summer heat. and until then, it's not 'that magic'. it's when the water layer UNDER the thermocline (hypolimnion) goes anoxic (low oxygen levels) that fish stay 'out of it'.
Great
Thanks!
What lake you on in Tennessee
Hi Danny, Douglas it is.
Can somebody answer this? Why many pros cast with the right hand and then switch to the left hand? I still don't get it
They're comfortable setting the hook with Their left hand on baitcasters....I have a left hand and right ...I use my left handed when I'm fishing lighter baits ...my right when I'm throwing heavier baits
Did he mention gear ratio?🤔
It’s still Winter
In some places. Some places they are sight fishing spawners.
Who is the guy? He has a channel?
Hi Onur, this is Ott DeFoe, a well-known and very accomplished professional bass angler. You can check out his channel here. ua-cam.com/users/OttDeFoe
@@Wired2Fish thanx man 👍
@@Wired2Fish he has a clear way of explaining
Agree, a very analytical guy. He's actually an accomplished lure designer too.
Early spring? It’s early February. But nice fish.
Depends on where you live, WB III. Plus you can always get prepared for when the bite heats up in your area.
Photo shopped thumbnail. Why bro??
or mom
Step one: buy a bass boat.
Step 1a: or buy a good pair of hiking shoes and apply the same knowledge from the bank!
Did you just use the S word??
You mean spinnerbait? If so, yes.
