Happy New Year Greg! Thank you for all you do. Around 9:48 in regards to when a timeout can be requested and granted by rule, I have a question about why a team can call a timeout during the administration of a throw-in after the ball has been given to the thrower. When a timeout is requested by the throw-in team, I know there is team-control solely for the purpose of the throw-in, but is there player-control which would allow a timeout to be granted? Or, does this fall under an exception? I'm taking into account the fact the ball is live once the ball is in possession of the thrower.
Easy questions))) You should mention which Rules Books you use. By the end of video I noticed NFHS logo, but thought it would useful to know from the beginning
Does Free Throws imply that any player or eligible substitute must shoot both shots awarded for a technical? It seems to me the rule implies plurality when it states free throws. Although I understand you are saying a different eligible player of that team may shoot each shot!
Free throws for a technical foul may be attempted by any player or eligible substitute. The player who attempts the first free throw is not required to be the one to attempt the second free throw.
Great video. I do have a question. You mentioned 6 technical foul free throws and said any player or eligible sub which is correct. But then you said Sub 1 could shoot the first, sub 2 the 2nd Sun 3 the 3rd etc. But in that scenario where you sub different players to shoot, am I correct in saying you could not sub a 6th player to shoot the 6th free throw?
@@BetterOfficials Thanks for that. I know that you are focused on high school basketball. You do an excellent job (I am older from Australia), it might be useful for your referees to consider referencing FIBA rules to broaden your audience, and also career path for your USA target audience of younger referees, particularly as they might want to head down the FIBA pathway ultimately. In Australia, we mainly follow FIBA (always local comp variations - such as my association a time out for T Fouls) and we have a number of younger referees on the international pathway.
Jason, we are starting with what we know: High School rules. I can say I'm an expert because I am. Fiba? Not. So. Much. We will be really clear going forward that we are focusing on NFHS rules. Cheers!
This was a great video. Makes learning and remembering the rules a lot simpler. Thank you for this.
Amazing demonstration! Channel worth subscribing to
Great stuff Greg! Enjoyed it...
Always great content!

Also, another question came to mind, after this timeout, by rule does the thrower need to remain the same following the timeout...?

Hi Alex. Will do.
I did not know the technical foul shooting by multiple players was allowed, thanks for the video!
Greg, have you ever thought about making (and selling) rule 4 flash cards? Just definitions...
You mean Rule 4, the most important rule for new basketball officials? LOL.
@@BetterOfficials yep

Are you following the FIBA rules or the USA variants?
NFHS High School Rules. I will be more specific about that going forward.

@@BetterOfficials For what it's worth, I like you sticking strictly with NFHS.

@@BetterOfficials Thanks, appreciate your comment, I have noted your clarity on the rules you are referring to in video#2
