Hi and welcome Darlene, Please let me know how you would like me to address you. First or Last name. Yes there are so many individuals looking to get into gardening. I have been looking for you, Martin! I was a subscriber of yours in your previous channel. Last year, I started growing fruit trees in containers. I needed to refer to your videos and I was so disappointed cuz I couldn’t find your channel anymore. I am glad to see your channel again!
I potted up from 5 to 25 on all my trees and everyone said I was crazy but Ive had so much luck on over 20 varieties of trees all growing in containers... I figured they were meant to be in the ground where they are not restricted by boundaries why cant they be uppotted to a huge pot... thanks for the video your the first to say this out loud 💯
Greetings Martine from Greece! I was waiting for you for your new channel! I am fan of you many years and watching every video of you! Many truths you say in this channel and many people are irritated of course! Citrus trees thrive here in sandy light clay soils we have as olive trees. I was told from a nursery a couple of months ago, that citrus as Olive trees also need earth on the container too! He suggested me 1/3 of earth soil and the other one a light mix like cactus mix or peat moss with perlite to drain well! Citrus are Suffering being wet in containers! they tend to be on dry side. Also i was told when they bloom not to water much or feed them with high nitrogen like fish emulsion because they will drop blooms:( with many loves from sunny Greece
Hi Giorgos, it is . nice to have you hear. Sound advice to grow your citrus. Stick around because there is so much we will get to do in the garden this year. Thanks
Been following you for years now and you never disappoint. I have a blood orange tree for four years now and I haven’t been able to make it produce any fruit. I will be very appreciate it if you make a video giving tips and s fourth. Thank you in advance.. Always a pleasure seeing your videos. Keep up the good work 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾

Thanks so much. I have been having issues managing my moisture levels in my pots over the winter. I live in NC and have to bring mine indoors over the winter. Being inside the pots were not drying out as quickly as they did when out in the sun. Will definitely try adding the play sand to my mix for next time.
This video is bountiful with knowledge. Thank you for sharing. I just wanted to check to make sure I understood your mix: either 65% azalea, 30% small/medium pathway bark, 5% sand Or 65% mix of top soil and mushrooms compost and mix of pathway bark /cactus soil? I’m planning on setting some up in my small patio this weekend. Thank you once again for sharing your knowledge!
Greetings from San Antonio! Great info. Just bought my Orange Frost Satsuma tree, getting ready to transplant to a bigger container. Glad I saw this video, the nursery said to go up to only 10 or 15 gallon. I'll be getting a 25 gallon instead!
Good for you. Most nursery workers are not experts in particular areas. And most beginners, yes, I would tell them to do exactly what the nursery told you. But my experience has led me to what most nurseries do not do. Specialize and Experiment.
Question...my sulfur arrived and I’m wondering how much to add at a time. My citrus are about 3’ tall in 5 gal pots. The current ph is about 7.5. Thank you for being my citrus guru💜
Martine, I agree with you on container size. I believe you can go to a 20 gallon or more on 5 gallon plants. I use a large container and have had my avocado trees grow out of them in one year.
Just loved watching your citrus soil instructions! I have 10 citrus trees and haven't had perfect luck growing them so this really helps. Hoping you have some info on pests on citrus as well. Especially white flies. I hate those things and the black fungus they cause. It is a constant battle. Thanks you again!
Good Evening! After searching for your old episodes on citrus feeding I finally found your new channel. Are you still feeding your citrus tress epsom salt and fish fertilizer? Even though the new growth on my grapefruit, lemon and lime trees are green, I am beginning to see many yellow leaves with green veins on the old growth. As the trees are blossoming, I am desperate to give them what they need to create abundant fruit this season. Any suggestions?
Hello there RDA. Yes I still feed them both, but I use those specific products as a foliar feed. Don't forget to add the chelated iron as well. That will take care of your possible yellow of the leaves which is a lack of magnesium and iron. But be sure you still give them there monthly feeding of a slow release fertilizer and foliar spray them every other week or at the minimum 1 x per month when you do your regular feeding. Take care bro.
@@elderyehudahwatchmanoftheg8425 Thank you and glad you are back! Your level of detail and curiosity driven research make you a trusted resource. I hope to make my four trees Brucheautiful in no time :)

Hi Martin. I prayed about finding info on growing citrus trees and this morning I found your channel. I remember watching your other terrific channel years ago. I live in Western Kentucky which has been updated to Zone 7a. I have a small house so I bought a metal frame for a greenhouse to locate the citrus trees in during the winter. I would like to ask for any advice on this and what two or three trees to purchase. I have never grown trees but have grown successfully vegetables in my backyard. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Take care and God bless

Hi Martin, I just bought a semi dwarf Meyer lemon and was about to move it over to a 15” pot. The nursery told me to get cactus soil. Can I just use that or do you suggest I run back to get azalea and camellia soil instead?
Brother I would like to say thank you for blessing and bestowing your knowledge My question pertains to watering Im not a fan of plain ol tap water when it comes to watering be it citrus tree or garden I recall in one of past post on your old channel you added several amendments to a barrel of water to create a special brew If at all possible I wonder if you would be so kind as to share those ingredients as I'm looking to try something different when it comes to giving my trees and plants nutrients when watering other than regular tap water
Hello dear brother, yes that brew is a awesome brew and my trees both citrus and fruit trees. Vegetables also love it too. FISH EMULSION/SEAWEED KELP/EPSOM SALT/BLACKSTRAP MOLASSES/ The fish emulsion and seaweed fertilizers and epsom salt are measured at 1 tablespoon per gallon of water. And the blackstrap molasses are measured at 1 cup per gallon of water. Here's a tip: If you can place 5 gallon buckets or any good size container in your yard to catch rainwater. Than do it! Rain water with these nutrients are a perfect concoction for your trees and vegetation. Rain water is free, natural and a great fertilizer unbenounced to many gardeners. Hope this helps. Take Care!

Hi, i have 4 yellow lemon trees that I started from seed last year. They were doing fine until, i noticed today, that some leafs are falling. They are the size from your finger tip to elbow a bit smaller. In containers. They get some afternoon sun and had to place them back a bit bec tip of leafs were browning. Need your advice. Thank you.
@@glendalopez5187 Hi, thanks for giving me the opportunity to answer your questions. Unfortunately, I do not grow from seed and cannot give you any information on that process. Usually when you grow from seed you can't expect any fruit development or at least a true fruit of the same type. so sorry

Hi! My poor tree lost almost all its leaves, had bloomed beautifully, but got full of ants that started eating the flowers and the leaves started getting yellow and burned tips. I checked the ph and it’s all the way alkaline. I’m guilty of not watering consistently. It still has 2 little lemons growing!!! I moved it to the shade to prune the dead wood and leaves and sprayed neem oil and I’m planning to add more potting mix, but after that I don’t know what else to do. Please Help!! Thanks!!!

I started growing my lemon trees from scratch in a container only two survived. I've had them for about a year now but one of my tress leaves are brown at the tips and it's small. What can I do? Should i cut the leaves off?
glad I found your channel. I can't find any videos on how to prune/shape citrus trees. you mentioned it in this video that it's different than fruit trees. Am I just not finding the video? From the videos I've watched of yours and observing your amazing trees it appears that you mainly just prune off crossing, diseased, and damaged parts. Am I wrong any advice is greatly appreciated
You've heard right Stephen. Citrus should be pruned minimally and when they are being grown in a pot than pruning is non existent. If any pruning should be done it should be to (you said correct) remove deadwood, downward, crossing and branches that are called sprout that shoot straight up with no fruit forming from them and of course anything branches below the graft line. Citrus prefer not to be pruned because the entire canopy of the tree from top to bottom is meant to protect the "trunk' of the tree from harsh sunlight to freezing cold. Keep moving forward buddy. Take Care!
I live in Zone 6b, and have a blood orange, meyer lemon, and red grapefruit, all on own roots. (I may graft to a dwarfing rootstock in future). I'm about to transplant the orange and lemon into larger containers, but will no longer be able to bring them inside afterward. Can you give me tips on how to overwinter them? I have a SW facing low stone wall I can put them against in the winter. What else can I do?
@@elderyehudahwatchmanoftheg8425 Okay, I'm going to assume the heavier ones. This will basically put them in darkness for months, will that be a problem? Esp since they will have ripening fruit over the winter. (Typically ripens around Jan/Feb in SoCal, but perhaps later in W. Ky.?)
If you're in SoCal, than no need to cover them. They will be fine in the Cali climate. But if you move to That colder state, than build you a greenhouse and shelter them or take them indoors (garage) for the winter. They will be fine as they will entering semi dormant mode.
@@elderyehudahwatchmanoftheg8425 thank you. We moved from SoCal to the colder zone 6b 18 months ago. Lemon went completely dormant and dropped all its leaves (thought it was dead LOL). It's leafed out and beautiful now.

My question is how long does each variety of citrus take to fruit. I hear different ones take different times and I am wondering how long it actually takes for a mandarin to fruit as I am growing mandarins.
Can't answer that question we live in two different climate as well as there are other factors that play a role in the ripening process. Check with your local nursery

Thank you.
@@elderyehudahwatchmanoftheg8425 thanks for replying. Wish it could have been in English.
@@glendalopez5187 Hi, thanks for giving me the opportunity to answer your questions. Unfortunately, I do not grow from seed and cannot give you any information on that process. Usually when you grow from seed you can't expect any fruit development or at least a true fruit of the same type. so sorry
@@elderyehudahwatchmanoftheg8425 Hi, thanks for writing.
Your videos are so educational. I like that you give detailed information.
Keep on posting. I will defenetly keep on watching.
Hi, ELDER. I GOT 12 NEW FRUIT TREES! I'M ALMOST THERE!
12? Ooh Wee you are not playing ain't ya April. That is wonderful! HalleluYAH!
Hello Martine! My name is Carlos and I’m from Brazil but im leaving in Worcester-MA and I want so bad to have some kumquat plants in my house. Do you have any video about this specific kind of citrus plant, and how to plant in cold zones? I watched your video about all citrus plants in cold zones and I loved it. Thank you so much and have a great night!
YES
thank you for sharing. zone 7 in Georgia is much warmer. now that I have this channel for you... will you share your houseplant channel? I lovedoing the exotictropicalhouseplants.
I am considering bringing that one back also as many are reqesting it. Let take it one step at a time. Ittakes a lot of work to upload and produce content. So I will however consider it okay.
Thanks so much for this video.
Thanks!!!
Hi , Here's my citrus playlist. Please watch each video at your leisure as there is lots of information you need to know. I can't give you a quick fix because this isuue will continue at a later date or something worse. Please watch these specific videos okay.

Thanks, I watched them and hope I gathered all the info I need to do go by my tree. I didn’t see the feeder roots, though, so I’ll go back and look for them 😅 I had already repotted and did the special mix you recommend.
I started growing my lemon trees from scratch in a container only two survived. I've had them for about a year now but one of my tress leaves are brown at the tips and it's small. What can I do? Should i cut the leaves off?
Thank you for the tips!
Absolutely
glad I found your channel.
What else can I do?
frost blankets. And lots of them. Leave them on doing the winter
Very informative, thanks.
Hello, what Azalea mix are you referring to? I am trying to make your new mix and I cant find a specific Azalea mix that seems right for citrus.
Hi Kyle, You can find 2 different versions that will do the same thing. which is lowering the ph. I will list a link of them both below okay. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Can you show how to prune citrus trees. Should you prune?
I do not prune citrus tress under 3 years old. But when I do you will be seeing it finally next month or sooner. Thanks
I was told not to grow citrus plant in plastic containers, because they won't grow properly, is that true? They say that I shut buy a tera Cora cot pot and transplant it. I don't know. 3 tera cota pot of 24 galon and more is not cheap prices just like the pastic containers I have them in at this moment.
Thank you for support.
Is that what you see here on my channel. Take it from a master gardener. Someone lied to you. Watch my citrus playlist okay Flor

I should have watched this about two hours ago play sand good tip thanks
No problem 👍
Any advise on container growing carmine jewel cherry trees?
No advice, the same would apply for any fruit trees in containers.
@@elderyehudahwatchmanoftheg8425 Ok, thank you so much. 😀
You are always welcome. If you have anymore questions. Please feel free to reach out. That is what I am here for.
One last question: Are the soil mix proportions by weight or volume?
volume
Yes agree with you a sandy soil
My question is how long does each variety of citrus take to fruit. I hear different ones take different times and I am wondering how long it actually takes for a mandarin to fruit as I am growing mandarins.
Can't answer that question we live in two different climate as well as there are other factors that play a role in the ripening process. Check with your local nursery
I'm confused what happen to all your strawberry videos
Got hacked!
I found u 💙
Welcome
ARE YOU STILL GIVING SEEDS AWAY?
Yes and No! The information to get them has already been put out. You would have to wait for the next go around.
Good Lord, you should be teaching in schools!
I would love to hear more on prunning...you know, tutorial for idiots😀
