    Great install video! Very excited to see this out on the track and can't wait for the update video!

    Never heard of these guys before, but the kit and instructions look top notch. That oil cooler is massive, thought I'm still worried about water temps. Nothing a 70/30 water/antifreeze with Water Wetter can't fix. My N has been keeping oil temps in check during warm track days, constant 250F with spikes up to 265F. The motorsports specific 5W40 oil I'm using can withstand spikes up to 300F without breaking down. Water temps stay at a constant 220F. All are within operational temperatures. No limp mode, no pulling timing, no limiting boost. Car is full send for the 4x20 minute sessions I've done at 80F ambient. Next track day will but much warmer around 90F according to the forecast. If oil and water temps are kept in check, I might just skip an oil cooler altogether. If it's hotter than I would like, this kit is on the short list.

      I hear you, my main concern from the get go was possible issues with water temps since the oil cooler is mounted in front of the top portion of the radiator. Our temps in Cali have been really close to the 100’s and sometimes over and I haven’t had any issues at all with any style of the driving I’ve been able to do. Cruising, idling, and canyon drives have been great with it.

      @@KDMStation That's good to hear. From such an unknown company, this kit is probably the best I've seen, and possibly the most effective due to its massive size. I'm glad the YT algorithm brought me your video.

    You can see specific oil temps if you change to the racing gauges on the N page. At least on the 21+ headunits.

      I have a 2020 and we don’t get that option 😓 but I have the torque app to keep an eye worst case.

    I hope they make this for the EN DCT and still be able to retain the velossa tech snorkel. 30 minute run on the track on a 90 degree day had me pushing 275 on fresh oil. This would be a nice addition.

      They are trying to get a dct in for test fitting but hopefully soon! I haven’t been able to get temps above 205 on hard canyon runs

    Great video! I reached out to them if this fits the DCT version/making a dct compatible one since we have a trans cooler in that area where the oil cooler is installed.

    Did you prime the oil cooler with any oil? I always thought you had to prefil the oil cooler with some oil to prevent there being a 0 PSI oil pressure condition that would occur when oil starts to flow through the cooler.

    • @KDMStation
      @KDMStation  2 роки тому

      I did prime it by giving the car a dry start. I cranked it over around 3 times before starting the car.

      @@KDMStation ahh gotcha but I thought since the thermostat wasn't open thr oil wouldn't get there but maybe my understanding of how these work is misguided. I'm planning on getting one, so trying to learn how to install 😅

    • @KDMStation

      In all honesty, I’m not sure lol but I know the way the oil cooler sits it would be pretty much impossible to fill it with oil and then have it mounted without draining it all as one of the lines is placed near the bottom. I can happily say the way I did hasn’t caused any issues lol. The car is running great right now. Did a canyon run yesterday and about to meet with a bunch of other N’s.

    Me again. Since you've installed this oil cooler, have you upgraded your FMIC to a much larger aftermarket one? I just installed the Forge IC and I want to get this huge oil cooler, but I'm afraid that the lower mounting bracket may interfere with the FMIC. If you're still running the stock IC, do you know of anyone else with a VN that has this oil cooler and an aftermarket FMIC?

    • @KDMStation
      @KDMStation  Рік тому +1

      I’m actually running this right now with an airtec intercooler and had 0 issues with the clamps being in the way.

    • @AM-uk7jv
      @AM-uk7jv Рік тому

      @@KDMStation Thanks for the reply! I know the rest of the VN community is apprehensive about purchasing this oil cooler because Color Fittings has yet to confirm whether or not their kit would fit with an aftermarket FMIC. It's good to know that it does! I just ordered a kit for my VN. I'm excited to see how much less my oil temps will be on track, and I hope it doesn't affect water temps much.

      @@AM-uk7jv I recently just did a small time attack event and the temps wouldn’t climb above 210-215. I’m interested to see how it would do on a longer course with more time. But I can say that I haven’t noticed any difference with coolant temps. We have gone to Las Vegas in 100+ degree weather on road trips, daily driving, or canyon runs and coolant is always within the exact range it was without it.

    Put in 0/30 oil you will get better MPG the 5 is for winter and you dont need that. Thats a nice setup wonder if it would work on the Kona N? Does it take another qt of oil? Who makes it?

    • @KDMStation
      @KDMStation  2 роки тому +1

      We live in SoCal and can benefit from a thicker viscosity. Especially on a turbo car. I’m not sure if it would due to your guys placement of the dct cooler. And I had to add another quart and a half. It’s made by colorfittings. I have a link to their kit in the description as well as a discount code.
