It doesn't work if Blackberry ID protection is turned on. However you can swipe up, down, left or right from the top of the screen and the screen reader will be reading out what is supposed to be displayed on the screen. If you continue swiping once after each step you will here sign in and that's a confirmation that BB Anti theft protection is turned on and there's no way around this.
Search blackberry "autoloader" on google and download it. I don't think it will work but you can try. Make sure you download the one for your phone model or else you might brick your device.

Regarding your issue of wanting to use your blackberry bold to browse the internet, I think it should work fine, but since if yours doesn't work I am guessing it's because your carrier said they no longer support it otherwise it should browse the internet just fine. Have you considered trying a different carrier?
