    originally entitled "That Time of the Month". Mark's got a decent voice (some of his fk-ups should have been edited out), but the Stevie Nicks look was over waaay before this tune came out.

    I still LOVE this album...the vox at the end of the song is INSANE! The backing-vox throughout are brilliant...I guess these guys would have to track the backing-vox at a live show. Couldn't blame them. ALL "Invasion" guitar-work is really tasteful. Vinnie could burn up & down the fretboard all day but he knows to play what the song calls for.

    What a great lineup, a great band and great tunes that came from this band. I shutter to think what these four guys could of did had they staryed together. Mark's vocals were awesome, Vinnie is greatness and so is Dana. Bobby rock was also pretty cool too. The Invasion was awesome!

    Vinnie Vincent made absolutely awesome music. The only thing i am not really attracted to is the girly voice of Mark Slaughter. Other than that, Vicent´s rythmic and solo guitars are absolutely superb.
    By long odds Vinnie Vincent stands out from the rest of all those "glam/hair" metal bands that emerged during the second half of the 80s.
    Btw, a girlfriend of mine says she gets hot listening this tune. ;))

    I have to disagree with a few of you. Mark was a better singer. To be honest im not a fan of Roberts voice its so common everyone has his voice Mark has such an amazing unique voice and I feel ripped we only got two albums by this great band why is it that poison and bands like that get all the "hits' this band is alot better then alot of those bands that went huge im not haten on poison good band but VVI is better just saying.

  • @vonkaunaz
    @vonkaunaz 13 років тому

    @danbb1984: You have a weird thing against Vinnie Vincent, but you can´t deny Vinnie was the one that pulled Kiss out of their late70s/early80s misery, and put them back on the hard/metal tracks! Could any other "half-decent" guitarist done the same? Don´t be arrogant and give the proper response: YOU DON´T KNOW. Paul Stanley might be a good song writer, but as guitarist he SUCKS -i´ve always wondered whether he can play guitar at all-: Kiss was a burnt ship when Vinnie was called to join them.

  • @danbb1984
    @danbb1984 13 років тому

    @badmutha07 But Paul Stanley was still writing classics, even in the Disco era. Magic Touch, Sure Know Something, Easy as it Seems, What makes the World go round etc. Bruce Kulick was the best choice and better than EVH and Vinnie would've been in the long run, so it all worked out in the end. My point about V.V.I is that they were a decent backing band thanks to Vinnie, but Mark Slaughter ruined their sound with his terrible voice.

  • @badmutha07
    @badmutha07 13 років тому

    @danbb1984 Kiss had no direction and lost its popularity just before Vinnie joined. Vinnie gave them direction and got them back to metal just as 80's metal was about to explode in the 80's. I don't think Eddie would have been a good fit with the band and Gene concurred that view. Paul Stanley is a good song writer and has written amazing songs but he was writing a lot of crap (Elder and disco) before Vinnie. Also VVI was largely popular due to Vinnie and his songwriting, not Mark Slaughter.

  • @danbb1984
    @danbb1984 13 років тому

    @badmutha07 Vinnie did not save Kiss. Any other half-decent guitarist could have done the same job. Imagine if Eddie Van Halen had accepted the position? Lick it Up with one of their weakest albums and they received far more attention for unmasking than for Vinnie's songwriting. The 80s albums didn't start getting really good until Animalize onwards. Paul Stanley is the best song-writer in Kiss by far, Vinnie is nowhere near Paul's level at song-writing.

    @twoo57 ......10 LP deal that was the largest & richest contract Chysylis ever gave to a rock band @ the time. It was HIS music, HIS lyrics, HIS ideas, HIS body & mind that had gotten the band to where it got until their somewhat disappointing 2nd LP was released (which was also the record companies fault, they asked him to tame the music & image down a bit.). The contract was for Vinnie, I don't believe he had a band together when he was signed. Sure, Vinnie has some demons but Slaughter.....

  • @lividmonky
    @lividmonky 14 років тому

    @Tscorp65 I totally agree. I remember that time like it was yesterday. I mean, all he had to do was let Mark play a little rhythm guitar and let the band have a little more input on songs. Slaughter had much higher record sales and was essentially the same band. Vinnie's mistake = Mark's pension. Vinnie wasn't that great of a guitarist. Sure, he's from KISS, but that's not a band known for GREAT guitarists. They had attitude, but skills? Not really. Kulick is pretty good, though.

  • @lividmonky
    @lividmonky 14 років тому

    Great song. One of the stand outs on a really good album. However, one of the reasons the rest of the guys went on to create Slaughter was because Vinnie wouldn't relinquish any of the creative reins on the band. Mark was a guitar instructor and wasn't allowed to play guitar. So, they left. Wouldn't have needed to happen if Vinnie wasn't being tyrannical about the band. Slaughter ended up being a much better band with better sales overall. Vinnie isn't all that great, either. Down rank away! :)

  • @jbjsince86
    @jbjsince86 14 років тому

    Mark Slaughter doesn't sound like Bon jovi! Mark's got an amazing vocal range. Bon Jovi and Slaughter are my fav's band's, they don't sound the same at all!.The record company may have fired Vinnie Vincent they didn't just replace the guitarist! Mark Slaughter actually put Slaughter together with Dana Strum. Bobby Rock is not the original drummer for Slaughter Blas Elias is/was and he quit in '04. Bobby rock did play for Slaughter on certain dates when Elias was playing Blue Man Group

    Yeah you're right I don't know much about Vinne's stuff or any of the aforementioned (hair) metal. It all sounded the same then as now.
    Yes, Zeppelin are great aren't they.
    I was a BIG Kiss fan too which is why I looked up VV. It seemed like he was a victim of his own AND Gene's arrogance.
    I'll check out Ashes To Ashes (I assume it's not the Bowie song).
    All the best - PS. I'll post any comment where and when I want to thanks.

    I just didn't (and still don't) get that whole Hair Metal scene. Is it just me or is it ALL really embarrassing?
    Over posturing and completely forgettable songs. Is it metal because there are some over driven guitars in the background? If you take them away then you have nothing more than a lame ballad - could be Celine Dione!!
    I find my self staring at my shoes with embarrassment.
    OK you can get angry now.

    No one should nock down any professional guitarist or any vocalist. They are or have succeeded and YOU haven't! Mark became one of the biggest acts on the radio at one time while the other guy disappeared. Not judging either one but it is easy to critique when you wouldn't stand a chance in their world. Thay ALL have talent or else you would never had heard of them...

  • @simmons7
    @simmons7 13 років тому

    I agree I think Robert was the better vocalist for VVI. The whole thing about Mark's audition tape not having info on it was false. It was made up because the record company wanted Mark in the band, Vinnie confirmed this at a KISS Expo in Chicago. Vinnie said he regretted going along with it & in retrospect would have kept Robert in the band.

    @Bakaphox Same here bro, I was born in 1993 and I feel in love with 80's music such as this buy the time I was in first grade. haha Most kids though it was weird since I'm latino and where I'm from... It's pretty much ghetto rap. :/
    But I love music from 50's, 60's, 70's, and especially 80's. Not much I can say from the 90's except Pantera but either way it's all good. :)

  • @Quazi-Moto

    I remember reading in all the metal mags about this new kid that Vinnie was going to unleash on the world as the singer on his next album (this one), who supposedly was unlike anything we had heard up to that point in metal. Well, they weren't lying. Slaughter definitely could sing, and had a unique voice.

    @Carrjam94 They where successfully Love Kills was a #1 song
    They toured opening for Maiden & A.Cooper,The record company was not happy with Vinnie,so they cut him out & gave the record deal to Mark,Danna & Bobby.
    Bobby left for Nitro & later Nelson they could not use the name Invasion cause it belonged to Vinnie but Slaughter was Invasion

    @Zosogun This was there only project together.
    the band "Slaughter" was pretty much this whole band minus Vinnie Vincent. All the other guys got sick of Vinnie's constant need for overblown guitar solos everywhere. Both bands were great in there own rights. Invasion was harder edged for the most part.

  • @FearsEnd

    This is such a great song. I think this song could have been a bigger hit if it was promoted right. I don't think that Vinnie Vincent got enough promotion back in the day. Anyhow this is my favorite Vinnie Vincent song. I think that All Systems Go was a better album than the 1st one by far.

    doesn't sound like Bon Jovi. Just listen to a Bon Jovi song after this and put in perspective. Bon Jovi is KING OF THEM ALL. He sounds closer to Slaughter (little lower tone, and not the quality of Slaughter). Yeah, he's a copy of slaughter.

    Back in the 80's, I was a huge fan of Metallica, Slayer, Exodus, etc. and I hated this style of metal. Now that I hear it again it takes me back to my adolesence and I have newfound respect for it, considering the current state of what's called "music"...

    Ah well, I can't argue with personal preference - I'm just more of a fan of Vinnie (not to say Ace and Bruce weren't great of course). One of the major critical comments of his style at the time was he shredded too much - I actually felt then when he got the balance right ("feel" vs Shred) then he was better than either....a lot of technical approaches were quite original but hey, thats just me.
    There's no doubt Ace influenced more people :)

  • @MercutioUK2006
    @MercutioUK2006 16 років тому

    Ok, I'm willing to accept that other people's opinions differ from mine - thats perfectly reasonable.
    If Vinnie wasn't the best, who was? Ace? Bruce? I rate both behind Vinnie on any attribute for a professional guitarist I can think of (technicaly proficiency, originality, musical knowledge) and would rate them equally on their ability to play "for the song". Perhaps the only area I would rate them ahead on would be their tone - Vinnie's was always slightly processed, even for the period.
