"What Tomorrow Brings" by Bad Religion from the album 'Age of Unreason,' available now
    Order at badreligion.ff...
    Lyrics
Metamorphosis of living nature, unweathering the hands of time
Resonant vibrations set to a grand design
These are more than technological things, they're promises of what tomorrow brings
Tranquility without conflict, potential free to find
    Incalculable bounty randomly decentralized
These are more than sociological things, they're promises of what tomorrow brings
    Absolution from the Golden Rule
Escape from earthly chattel and the grimy hands of fools
These are more than words that the false prophet sings
They're promises of what tomorrow brings

You guys are a league of your own in the genre by now. This album is absolutely solid and deserves each one of the good reviews it is getting. I hope tomorrow brings many more years of Bad Religion raising the bar higher and higher in every way, like you've been doing for almost four decades.

Album surpasses expectations. Nice mix of fast drums, loud distortion,
complex melodies, thoughtful lyrics, and a few surprisingly addictive
slower tracks. Hope to hear and see, another album or two or three, before the end
    of history ;)

I needed this album so bad I literally checked their website every day for the last three years for updates on the new album. I remember in february of 2018 they posted a picture of greg and brett writing songs. I thought about this album nonstop. They took their time and they made the perfect album. Well worth the wait.

That's what happens when you make political commentary, this kind of topics seem timeless as the problems addressed repeat constantly like a cycle. That's what I love most about Bad Religion, how each song can still be meaningfull if you bring it to today's situation...

Another great album. I put it on repeat and listen to it over and over. I see some people saying "this is a new sound" maybe I'm tone deaf, but this sounds like classic Bad Religion to me. From the very first guitar riffs and drum beats, I think yep, this is undeniably and unmistakably Bad Religion, even before Greg sings his first note. Yet when he does sing his first lines, you get the sense he hasn't lost his touch. Still listening 5 months after release, and will be listening for years to come.

    Every day we profit so
    leaning toward the great unknown
asking how it pertains to tomorrow
aim for places we've not been
    trample paths that go between
    yesterdays foundations and tomorrow
it's the way they say it's got to be
we spear ahead and forge our destiny
    who do they represent?
    who do you belive?
make a sound decision for others to heed
try to set a faster pace
try to build a master race
one that will make a contribution to tomorrow
it's the way they say it's got to be
we put aside our fears and make history
the clothes are in the dryer and the writing is on the wall
we're trying everything we can to stop this fall
    everyday we profit so
    leaning toward the great unknown

It's really depressing to see the difference in tone between True North and Age of Unreason. I've always thought of True North as a generally positive/hopeful album, especially Changing Tide to close the album. This album, on the other hand, seems very dark/grim, and closes with a promise of what tomorrow brings if things don't start changing in a different direction. I can't really speak to the quality of this album compared to others because I love everything this band does, and I'm not afraid to admit it. This is an amazing album that comes at a critical time, and I can't wait to get my copy in the mail so I can kill my car's speakers.

Great humanist song. It sucks that it's the only positive one on this album.

    • @AnEntropyFan
      @AnEntropyFan 8 місяців тому

It's not a positive one. It's about how techbro cultists and other capitalist ccks are driving us straight into extinction, with promises that sound as hollow as any religious mantra.
The first block references how those who are driving the bulk of the climate change (think Elon Musk flying on private jets to places 10 miles away and sabotaging high speed rail, while claiming to be the vanguard of renewable energy with his primary grift) are disingenuously claiming that technology will magically save us from what is a social and political issue - there will never be a magic CO2 scrubber nor a car-portable fusion reactor to save us, downscaling is the only non-vapourware solution and that is not happening and those who are selling the vapour certainly do not want it to happen.
The second block is about "end of history" fedora-tipping bullshit, think how "Libertarians" and similar fedora tippers claim an anarcho-capitalist society would work (incalculable bounty randomly decentralised), or a myriad of narcissistic usually "white" usually men who proposed a very superficial "panacea" tier solution for what is a complex and deep societal issue.
The last is about what they really want, to fck off to mars and leave the planet and the people they've killed behind. A direct parallel to Christian fundamentalist belief that they can be horrible people on Earth who will go to heaven for as long as they accept Jesus. The only difference is that the likes of Elon Musk and Peter Thiel believe that money will give them such absolution once society collapses, a belief as absurd as the Jesus one because once society goes they will have nothing to hide behind. As is, it's the privilege that wealth yields keeping them alive, without 24/7 bodyguards a family member of some worker he murdered would've clapped him a dozen times over by now.
