NOTE: All is correct EXCEPT how to remove the interior door handle cable that you said would come out by removing the bolts/screws around it. That is incorrect. There is a small plastic tab at the base of the mechanism (look for small arrows pointing down). Push that tab down and the cable pops right out.
So I need to replace the cubby hole in front of the armrest. My daughter left a glow stick in it and it exploded in the summer heat. Completely bonded with the plastic. I see that there are just two plastic tabs there. Is that the only thing holding it in that you can tell? If so I should be able to replace it without removing the panel.

I popped the window switch housing up and disconnected the harness before removing the door panel
