This Prof. went to protest in 2012 when fuel was about 160, dollar exchanged for about 216 and a bag of rice was about 12000....we never thought we would've had a government worst than Buhari's gov't....we know have a government that's worst than Buhari's gov't.....The Prof. has not uttered a word about the state of things in Nigeria.....The Nobel laureate has not condemned the activities of Tinubu's supporters in the last election neither has Tinubu condemned that action......So where's the TRUTH and sincerity......too bad.
Tinubu and APC government have revealed the underbelly of so many people that Nigerians held in high esteem.
Nigerians now actually know the true colours of some characters.
All the allegations of drug peddling, forgery and identity theft that surrounded the occupier of the highest office in the land didn't attract the attention of the erudite Prof.....
    Waaaooo!!!

@@safiibrahim1778 Is not about him protesting but speaking to the issues on the ground. What we've now is far worst than what he protested against, then how come he can't speak to the issues.....

Many persons keep referring to obidients and I wonder why. Who are the obidients gan sef? Are they not the people of Nigeria? They are not groups, party or a set of people in the room tweeting. They are Nigerians who felt aggrieved with what is happening and wanted something new and functional, a new Nigeria is possible is what they believe and what’s wrong with that? Ole Soyinka just Dey disgrace himself under the belief that he is telling the truth. His truth can’t be everyone’s truth as he is but human who is not humble and respectful enough to stay in his lane where elders speak wisdom but instead sprout lies masqueraded as truth.

Nothing wrong with being aggrieved. Nothing wrong with challenging a failing system. The problem is when you start abusing and threatening people just because they don't agree with you. This is what Obidients were doing and they don't seem to understand that this ended up costing Obi some potential supporters.

@@easyware I honestly disagree with you my brother…..people most times misconstrued the actions and strives of the obidients simply because they can’t fathom how they think. If you are climbing up to save yourself and someone beneath you is pulling you back, what then are you going to do? The situation of this country called Nigeria is enough to anger anyone as everyone has their pain and cannot be compared. You know that putting corrupt politicians in power will lead to the downfall of our country and yet you will see people who intentionally want them there because of what they can get eventually. I don’t like violence really but if people are intentionally dragging this country down, one must word them out either peacefully or by crazies. We need to take this country with our hands by every means possible without corruption and it will only work collectively.

He thinks that only he knows the truth and can tell the truth. I am not a Nigerian, but I'm very disappointed by Wole. The truth is that he is driven by hatred and jealousy. He is a perfect tribalist Nobel Prize playing the game of westerners 😢😢😢😢😢

It's OK to disagree with Soyinka's policies or even his principles.. but before you call him a tribalist just remember that he was jailed for his vociferous support of Biafra. Not every disagreement is down to tribalism.

Obidients made PO not the reverse. PO has no real followers. I mean where are his Osinbajo’s and Fashola’s. PO is more scared of obidients than his opponents, thus he can’t call them to order. They would finish him and he knows it

You cant blame this Prof Gbajue. Blame Mr Fake Noble Nigeria who is ever seeking people to come to his platform, to demarket Peter Obi. He lacks nobility , and he has no "nigerianess" left in him. Wonder what Obi did to weak Noble Agbaya.
He doesn't mean well for the masses

  • @easyware

To be honest, Obi was not the problem. But Obidients were the problem. Soyinka is wrong to suggest that Obi was controlling them. He wasn't. I remember Obi had to go and make peace with Femi Kuti when Obidients threatened to burn his house: that is what a unifying statesman does. That was a charm offensive. Unfortunately his most vocal supporters were the complete opposite and they don't seem to realise the damage they did to his campaign. How do you expect to win hearts and minds when you become so intolerant and aggressive??? If someone disagrees with your political stance, the best way to win them over is by force of argument rather than by abuse. Win them over with charm and logic rather than threats and abuse. But some people only understand insults and threats.
For me the saddest part of the whole matter is that those who are accusing Soyinka of tribalism don't realise that this man was jailed for supporting Biafra.

      1. Aggressive Obidients were nasty and awful.
Maybe true or not. Depends on who was looking at it. There's nothing wrong with being passionate. Tinubu's supporters also threatened those who didn't support him and perpetrated actual violence against them, but no one seems to talk about that. They were as insulting or more insulting than Obidients.
      2. Obidients harmed Obi's campaign.
False. In politics, people make choices based on identity - religious, tribal, racial, class, ideology, etc. And they don't change their minds after identifying with a candidate. So, those who did not identify with Peter Obi would not have changed their minds even if Obidients were the nicest people on earth. Obidients didn't therefore affect Obi's campaign one way or the other.
      3. Wole Soyinka is a tribalist.
True. As I pointed out above, Tinubu's supporters hauled threats and abuses against their opponents as did the Obidients but even went one step further to use actual violence against their opponents. Wole Soyinka has not once condemned it. Why? Because they're his tribes people and Tinubu is his poster boy. He hates Peter Obi simply because Peter Obi is not Yoruba, Hausa or Fulani. Buhari's supporters killed southerners in 2011 and Buhari openly threatened carnage if he were to lose in 2015, yet Wole Soyinka was one of staunch supporters even traveling on private jets with the likes of Amechi on missions to sell Buhari to the West while besmirching Goodluck Jonathan (who by the way identified with the Igbo through his maternal grandmother). Wole Soyinka said he would give his assessment of Tinubu's performance after one year, well isn’t it time he did that yet? But he is still going about Peter Obi. Why? Because Peter Obi belongs to the tribe of arch rival - Chinua Achebe!
      4. Wole Soyinka was jailed for supporting Biafra.
This is an unforgivable lie. Wole Soyinka was jailed for his violent opposition to Akintola who was liked by the Fulani Oligarchy who controlled the government at the time and for Wole Soynka's role in the Midwest crisis that preceded the Civil war. Decades after his release from prison and the end of the war, Wole Soyinka still did not condemn the massacre of the Igbo. He was only forced to speak about it after Achebe's "There Was A Country" was published in 2012 or thereabout. That's not the attitude of someone who supported a massacred people, is it?
