Can you help me, as someone with little business knowledge, understand how she showed great negotiation skills? Originally she said 30K for 15%, they countered 30K for 33.3%, and she countered 35K for 25%.
@@ps7549 Maybe a bit late but I'll try to explain it. She asked 30k for 15% so that is 30k/15=2k for each percent. their offer was 30k for 33,3% so that is 30k/33,3= 900 or 0.9k for each percent Her counter offer was 35k for 25% so that is 35k/25= 1.4k So the final deal is of course lower than what she initially asked but it's ALOT higher than what the sharks offered. And getting such a large raise out of the sharks, who are seasoned business people, is really impressive. Allso how her counter offer aknowledged that she sharks wanted a bigger stake in the company than 15% (because it gives them more influence) but upping the price because of that was a great move. She read what the sharks wanted, didn't give them entirely what they wanted and made them pay up for what they did get. That's an impressive feat.
I love everything about this pitch ... she was nervous at the beginning but kept her cool and impressed ALL the sharks. She totally earned the deal and is awesome to see people like her succeed at her goals.
I can't think of a time when a youngster like her or even younger left without a deal..I think that they have an agreement to support young budding entrepreneurs..Which is really cool..Because success or failure it is a learning experience for them..Notice how Mark passed, but they all know Daymond and his socks, so Mark passed the ball to Draymond who is one of the best to make at pitch at because of his history of backing first-timers of any age..Loring also supports young women no matter how crazy the product might be..
There has been an evolving style of presentation over the years. Sophie is new at this so she didn't really tailor her pitch but it was always going to be Daymond for socks. In the early days people would make a generic demo just hoping any shark would bite. In recent years, though, entrepreneurs are much more likely to already have a specific shark in mind even before they go into the tank. Fashion - Daymond. Electronics or tech - Mark or Robert. Small household items - Laurie. Restaurants or anything that will require negotiating some sort of lease - Barbara. Licensing deals or residuals - Kevin. Each shark really does have a specialized expertise and more entrepreneurs are aware of that now.
I agree, it's also great PR for all the ST guys to be seen investing in youth. Not only that, but she's clearly incredibly talented. They now have that talent on their books. For such a small amount of $, it has huge upside.
While this may be true you need to keep in mind they are putting their money into this and I have no doubt that if they didn’t believe in the product they probably wouldn’t make an offer.
@@slchld. Umm...They are making less of an investment for profit, they're investing in something else entirely..They are all Billionaires or close to it..To say that is "chump change" to them is laughable..1/2 an hour, or probably less, of interest on their other investments covers most anything..

Wow. She solved her problem by creating that sock, created a product, found a supplier, improve it, found a funding, market and sell it. Then logistic became a problem so she needed capital. Made an interesting sales pitch, negotiated and got a deal and fresh capital all while being a high school student. She has what is takes the be an entrepreuner.
UPCOMING High School student. This was probably in the break between Middle and High School. This is super impressive.
13! This young lady is definitely going places. So impressed by her maturity, creativity, and entrepreneurial skills.
Wow she is amazing, brought me to tears, how young and articulate. Her parents should be so proud and she is exactly the kind of person who will do great things in life not just for her but for the world, you can just tell. I hope she is wildly successful.
"He does quite a lot in the sock arena." For some reason that cracked me up 🤣🤣🤣
😂yeee...lol
“She has a little switch blade in that sock” 😂
Young lady is incredible. Love the combination of boldness and humility. Articulate, bright, good critical thinking skills. The Demo rocked. Well... Absolutely adorable. Her parents must be great people and she did them proud. Congratulations!!! P.S. To the Sharks. Thank you. She was deserving.
It’s so assumed that Barbara is out at this point that the editor didnt even think to show the part where she actually says she’s out.
LMAO
💀🎉
Love how creative and brave these young entrepreneurs are. Their confidence in their pitch is admirable.
I love, love ,LOVE it when Damon said she had a switch blade in her sock after her counter offer! Too cute & I'm so proud of her!
Kudos to parents supporting her. My mom would never let me sell cookies in that age becuz i might be kidnap, hit by cars or a big meteorite might fall at me.
Hahaha same
Lol right !!!!! Man !!
😂😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣
May have been due to the fact she was selling these at school to other kids her own age. Can't get much safer than that. Cuddo's to parents for being so supportive and to her for being so smart, brave and productive!
She'll be on her way, she just needs good guidance from trust worthy people with loving hearts, congrats
Sophie is such an inspiration even to adults like me. She has the knowledge, interest, did her reasearch, worked for the money, and has big dreams! Plus the negotiation! I had many ideas that I did sorta make as a teen, but never went forward with any of them. Wish I had her tenacity, which I applaud her for, as someone also with social anxiety.
Many come to the Tank, too emotionally tied to their business. She's smart; she gave up more of a stake, however, she has seasoned vets on her team that already have market access and expertise. She is not a business owner...she is an entrepreneur! Well done!
She squeezed more juice out of the lemons she was given. A win in my book
So heartwarming, but not in a patronising way, just a great young lady and given the opportunity, which she has, I'm sure she will go far. Must have SUPER proud parents. You go girl!!
I’m really impressed with this young woman at 13 I can’t wait to see what Sophie does in her teens and 20’s Best of Luck to her and her sock company! Such talent to be so young!
Heart warming - and these socks were a really good idea. The break dancers were also a very nice touch for the presentation.
“Well done”. So deserving, yet understated. Great job.
Mr wonderful is not as smart
if you are 1/3 partner you give up 2/3 of your company not 1/3 what a math
The 2 sharks were super generous. It made me happy that they accepted her counter offer
I am so proud of this young lady. She definitely has spunk & I was hoping that Damon & Lori to step in. I even cried when they accepted her counter offer. Blessings Sophie
I will definitely invested in her personality not the product, positif vibes
Thank you for 😢
My 8 and 6 year old daughters will be watching her today after school.
Amazing!
Maybe they'll be on the show someday!
Love her reaction to Kevin’s “that’s horrible”. 05:03
Impressive! Sophie has alot of confidence for her age.
She went in to the Shark Tank
& came out alive &
going for the gold!!
Way to go, Sophie!!
Great negotiation skills. Lovely to see the sharks friendly with this deal supporting the entrepreneurship.
Can you help me, as someone with little business knowledge, understand how she showed great negotiation skills? Originally she said 30K for 15%, they countered 30K for 33.3%, and she countered 35K for 25%.
@@ps7549 exactly dude ..
@@ps7549 Maybe a bit late but I'll try to explain it. She asked 30k for 15% so that is 30k/15=2k for each percent.
their offer was 30k for 33,3% so that is 30k/33,3= 900 or 0.9k for each percent
Her counter offer was 35k for 25% so that is 35k/25= 1.4k
So the final deal is of course lower than what she initially asked but it's ALOT higher than what the sharks offered.
Respect to this young woman. So many of us (to include myself) would love to have this passion at such young age! You go girl!! 🥰
@@MrReed314it’s a business and works the same as a bank. Go borrow money from the bank and tell them it’s chump change it doesn’t matter if they lose it. No lender will lend to you or take your seriously because nobody wants to lose money no matter how much they have. Just because they’re billionaires doesn’t mean they’re going to take time out of their day to go work for you for free and lend you money without a good ROI. Don’t be silly.
The fact that she's humble , kind and an amazing beginner entrepreneur makes me like this girl even more. And i havent even seen her in my life!
*At 13 I had business ideas but never knew how to go about them nor the fonds to execute them. I am so proud of Sophie.*
I like how Mark sounds really honest and involved when he says good for you and on giving advices.
She is brilliant. Hope my kids have this ambition when they get older
As a former us arm paratrooper we harped on integrity and to be honest the lessons that little girl learned in that room and the integrity at which these MILLION/BILLION dollar people are treating her with is humbling to say the least. Hope she makes it and I expect a whole ass jumpsuit with pockets everywhere when this is all said and done
Congrats to her , she came in with big boss moves and made a big boss deal. Can't wait to see her progress even more !!!
Her business failed. Website is down and her social medias are no longer updated for few years. Its pity, because she was very sympathic and remarkable.
Dance presentation is very thoughtful and it proves her theory and solidifies the business pitch
Mark is such a great person. Always complementing the young kids.
Absolutely awesome! I started hustling when I was 13 and by the time i was 29 I owned an award winning business! This girl is awesome!
What business
OMG!! I cried with pride for her!
When I think of what I was doing at 11, 12, 13!!
Even the way she walked...with such purpose and confidence!
Made me think of Princess Lea (esp her hair buns) :)
She'll have thousands of ideas in her career I'm sure!
They totally did it so they can help her, teach her, mentor her and WATCH HER GROW!! That's so awesome that they believe in young people!!!
This young lady brings tears of joy to my eyes.
This is so inspiring to see. I'm going through a hard time right now. It brought tears of joy to see this little ray of sunshine breaking through this darkness in the world today!!!
6:36 in and Barbara hasn't gone out yet. I'm more shocked by that than how impressive the kid is
Edit. Barbara was in her glory here. She went out without even having to go out. Well played
@@LK-gw6to Nah sorry bud. Never played that.

Right ...lol..
Barbs didn’t even to say I’m out they already knew 😂
It does not matter whether the company fails or not. She will learn a lot and be more successful with her next venture.
Barbara was out even before she could say she's out, so for that reason she's out.
She came out like a winner ! She said a COUNTER offer! I applaud her‼️❤️🙏🏾
God I'm so happy for her it made me shed a tear. She's so genuine.
Sophie took lauris hug like she really needed it. Made me tear up, inspirational young girl, Hope she makes it far
Wow ! This girl will certainly be a business tycoon in future if she thinks and goes in this pace.
Loved her negotiating skills in this tender age. Bravo 👏👏👏👍👍👍
Her decision for a counter offer was brilliant. What a brave young lady. Taking on the Sharks
What an amazing and smart young lady. I wish more young people act like her and so wise.
Clearly she has parents that's helping, lets not forget about those that support her
Did u act like that when u were young?
@@yeah88942 yes with my parents help
@@LedePat I was asking marsha green not u
I like how the sharks, while still very much in business mode, get softer for the kids. Lori and Mark are always so happy to see them
Wish I had this kind of entrepreneur spirit even now. Some ppl just have it and it’s so great to see them realize their potential
Why am I crying omg. Good luck young lady. I love how you believe in yourself and your products.
I would be more proud of my kid for this than getting into an world Top Tier college by Far .
Marvelous !
If your kid wants to design rockets and quantum computers and achieve breakthrough advances in biotech, etc, he or she will have to go to college though.
Wow, I’m totally impressed by her! I can’t believe she’s only 13 and she’s a business owner already.
Barbara: I’m sitting between billionaires and for that reason I’m out.
🤣
😂😂😂
THESE ARE GREAT SOCKS FOR STORING MONEY WHEN YOU TRAVEL etc... I would DEFINITELY buy them...
As middle school teacher I can say that middle school students absolutely have excellent negotiation skills 😏
Hahahahahahahahaha
Shes brilliant and has great negotiating skills. I'm proud of her.
This gives me chills. I can only hope my daughter is this brave and entrepreneurial!
i hope your daughter is loved and valued by her parents no matter how brave or entrepreuneurial she is!

And greedy, too!
why ur daughter? why not u xd
THAT ... was awesome! I hope she makes millions and speaks at my kids' high school! Sophie, thank you for what you have created but, more importantly, for your strong speech when it mattered to adults. You are an inspiration. Congratulations (obviously!) and the best of luck! Sean
I fucking love that mark is SO pro-entrepreneur. He loves and encourages them to do the right thing or to counter.
This girl is gonna go FAR in the business world. I mean not only was her negotiating skills impressive but her presentation of the product ( with the boys help) was AWSOME
The way she answer the questions is amazing at such a young age..
A 13 year old kid who has a great product, pretty good nego skills that no other 13 year old would have, and had the massive bravery to go up to the Sharks. Shes definitely gonna make it big
is it just me or does she look more like 16? Maybe because she acts like an adult? I Dunno
Horrible product
She’s 13 and already worth so much more than me in my 30’s 👍 self worth hitting new lows today! 🙈🤣🤣
Not everything is about money. Sometimes it also seems somewhat random what gets paid less or more. Just keep going. 🤗
😃😃😃😃 me every day I will say I want to start a business and I am turning 30
good on her! she ended up with the perfect partners.
the more i watch, the more i appreciate daymond. you can see he wasn't really interested in the business but is willing because he wants to help (and, yes, because it is a viable company/product).
I guess the Sharks know that Barbara is 'out' so they don't even care to wait for her to say that she's out
😂😂
The shots used after the one with Kevin asking what Sophie wants to do with the money also don't have her in them. The editor also went out of the way to make sure she was out. lol
For those who are wondering how she got such business skills, it is important to remember that world famous entrepreneurs were all her age (well, almost) when they started out. Creating small things, getting people to like them, and then moving on to bigger things. For her, right now its just socks. Who knows what other ideas might come up in her mind as she grows older? She spots problems and that's what matters.
My sons phones fall out of their pockets all the time (gym shorts worn 80% off the time)- I went to buy some, ALL sold out.
Please make more! You go girl!
Imagine this girl when she is 25? You will not believe your eyes! Congrats Sofia from Arkansas! Good for you!👏👏👏
