It is hard to believe the legendary performer released this classic forty years ago. The way this song makes music fans feel will always remain the same. It will always be inspirational.
One of my favorite movies and soundtracks of all time! My love for her voice has never waned in all these years, her theatrical talent is undeniable, and this movie moved me beyond words
I saw this on TV when I was 16 and I'm black ,why did this movie touch me ,how was I able to understand it ,it's a different culture,a different religion ,why and how ,because I've always admired female singers .From Diana Ross to Chaka Khan ,Liza Minnelli ,Maddonna, and this movie introduced me to the remarkable Barbara Streisand .I'm straight and realized I'm a fan of music ,good music ,musical type music. I like hip hop also ,it's a shame we can't have movies like this or Purple rain any more..the 80s best decade for me .
Jake V J Interesting post. I too am black but a female and this is my favorite movie. Music doesn't have a color and its a matter of what YOU like. I like a variety of music, country included which isn't "white" music as some might like to believe. :-) Actually I would go do far as to say that IMO, every song in the movie Yentil are small master pieces. :-)
I'm a French Jew, I think Jews and Blacks have a lot in common. The movie the Color Purple is one of my favorite movies, and although as Jake V J said I have also a different religion, and different culture, I still love that movie and especially the gospel song 'God is trying to tell you something'. Music, art, feeling, love have no boundaries, and this is the way it has to be.
I'm surprised more people haven't noticed the gay undertones of this song. It's precisely the way a gay man falls in love (that forbidden love) the very first time. What a song to feature her superb voice, and her uncanny phrasing. Brava, bravissima.
I just love this song, I can pretty much sing it like her ..but I can't outbeat Babs ever...lol Plus at 17 I had a huge crush on Mandy from this movie too
There's no chill and yet I shiver There's no flame and yet I burn I'm not sure what I'm afraid of And yet I'm trembling There's no storm yet I hear thunder And I'm breathless why I wonder Weak one moment then the next I'm fine I feel as if I'm falling Every time I close my eyes And flowing through my body Is a river of surprise Feelings are awakening I hardly recognize as mine What are all these new sensations What's the secret they reveal I'm not sure I understand But I like the way I feel Oh why why why why oh Why is it that every time I close my eyes he's there The water shining on his skin, The sunlight in his hair And all the while I'm thinking things That I can't wait to share with him I'm a bundle of confusion Yet it has a strange appeal Did it all begin with him And the way he makes me feel I like the way he makes me feel, he makes me feel, I like the way, I like the way he makes me feel.
Max WAtzenböck You left out the slight pause she does when she draws a breath to blow out the candle before she says feeeeeeeeelllll! :-) My favorite movie. I know every song, all the words every little nuance in each song lol!
Most of the bad reviews came out before the movie's premiere cause the press doubted Streisand could produce and direct a movie plus star in it. Nowadays "Yentl" is an adored classic.
Playboy was very complimentary of the film in a very smart and mature review. I was younger at the time and don't recall the all the words but remember thinking, wow this is educated grown up talk. It was obvious Streisand bowled them over. It was a glowing recommendation and I couldn't wait to see it.
Avigdor was a man, she was a woman, the source material is very clear. transvestites are not necessarily gay and she was not. I love both sexes, but in this case her love that she is portraying is that of a love for a man, but i do get what you said. the reality is that finding a person attractive doesn't make you gay. It is really about who you love.
I think the whole "not gay or anything" bit is sort of missing the point of a transvestite gay icon singing about not being able to reveal how she feels for someone of the same gender...
Nathan Scarborough but its not the same gender, transvestite just means you dress in the clothes of the oppitsite gender not that you want to be the oppitsite gender. Why would this be a gay icon?

Talk about someone who was born to be adored by the film camera and the microphone...

One of the most hauntingly beautiful songs ever written.

Bruh, treat yourself to Jennifer Holiday singing this song for Streisand at the Oscars . You'll never be the same!
i don't think anyone dare to remake this movie .. totally OUTSTANDING :)
It's impossible...because no one else can sing like that...she's absolutely totally unique!
There would be no reason to,..it's done to it's highest degree already. Such TLC was putting into it's making...
One of the best movies

What a song to feature her superb voice, and her uncanny phrasing. Brava, bravissima.
I think she has to keep it a secret, because she is actually a straight woman.
I was 18 when I heard this while eating at a mc Donald's the music was so pure
This is one beautiful song that will never be forgotten....
I just love this song, I can pretty much sing it like her ..but I can't outbeat Babs ever...lol

Such an exquisite song.

One of my favorites by Miss.Streisand.

One f the VERY best songs by Streisand!!
One of my all time favorite movies and soundtrack
There's no chill and yet I shiver
There's no flame and yet I burn
I'm not sure what I'm afraid of
And yet I'm trembling
There's no storm yet I hear thunder
And I'm breathless why I wonder
Weak one moment then the next I'm fine
I feel as if I'm falling
Every time I close my eyes
And flowing through my body
Is a river of surprise
Feelings are awakening
I hardly recognize as mine
What are all these new sensations
What's the secret they reveal
I'm not sure I understand
But I like the way I feel
Oh why why why why oh
Why is it that every time
I close my eyes he's there
The water shining on his skin,
The sunlight in his hair
And all the while I'm thinking things
That I can't wait to share with him
I'm a bundle of confusion
Yet it has a strange appeal
Did it all begin with him
And the way he makes me feel
I like the way he makes me feel, he makes me feel,
I like the way, I like the way he makes me feel.
...."And all the while I'm thinking things that I can NEVER share with him."
Max WAtzenböck You left out the slight pause she does when she draws a breath to blow out the candle before she says feeeeeeeeelllll! :-) My favorite movie. I know every song, all the words every little nuance in each song lol!
I saw Mandi Patimkin......anyhoo...I saw him on the number 4 bus here in ny. Told I enjoyed his work. He smiled and said oh thank you. Sweet.
Oh thats cool!
One of my favourite movies. Such great songs... Such talented actors.
THERE IS NO OTHER. !
WE LOVE YOU BARBARA ! !
Je suis areligieuse, ce qui ne m'empêche pas d'adorer barbra depuis mon adolescence.
I’m gonna have to dig this movie out and watch it again. Lol
I was just thinking exactly the same 😉
Still one of my favorite movies.
thanks..love this song reminds me of my hubby who I still love with all my heart and I still love the way he makes me feel*
Now come on, Joe Public, haven't we felt like this, at least once, in our lives????
Mandy Patinkin was good looking in Yentl. I don't blame her for the way he makes her feel. Hehe
Hehe yeah, surprisingly so that's what I thought too.
I didn't think so. Too hairy, pale and no shape.
@@davidralphs4 Works on me. The smile, the beard, the hair, the natural build. Plus, he's kind and gentle.
Yuo yup i drooled over mandy
lol I adore this movie and all the songs in it!
Esta cancion es para mi la mas bonita de la peli.
me too..great song and great movie!!
Gorgeous song ♥♥
Absolutely perfect ❤️❤️❤️
I am so with you on that! Someone get me a fan...
Ooooh, I'm blushing too.....
perfection...
una voz preciosa
She reminds me of Motel from Fiddler on the roof. In-fact she looks like Motel.
I recall this movie getting so many bad reviews. I actually enjoyed it a lot.
Most of the bad reviews came out before the movie's premiere cause the press doubted Streisand could produce and direct a movie plus star in it. Nowadays "Yentl" is an adored classic.

My mom loves this movie
20 gave this a thumbs-down? What's wrong with people?
I'm not a fan of Streisand, but this song and the radio edit are great. I like this expose of nineteenth century chauvinism.
A gay man can identify with her feelings, we have been through that, when we have fallen for a straight guy.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
The beauty of youth..Mandy..and Barb, what year was this??80 something??
auntjojo1980 83
84..she was 42...superb!
It's okay Barbra, we would all feel this way after seeing Mandy Patinkin naked.
...I mean, what a treat he was back then!
❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹
good movie
"HELLFIRE"
