0:01 How do you do ladies and gentlemen, This is a test transmission from HSV Channel 7. The Herald-Sun Television Station. These transmission appear, until the opening position on channel 7 on November 4th, 1956
Final Switchoff in Australia. I thought Sydney was the last. But no. Think of how long commercials were in USA back then 50-70 years ago. That’s nearly how long the Virgin Money advert is.
The only EVER time they identified themselves correctly at Station HSV-Melbourne was before going off-air on the analogue channel(shown at 5:05 to end of clip). They identified themselves as "Herald-Sun Television" the was they should ALWAYS have identified themselves.
Whether digital or analogue, it is NOT the channel which broadcasts the shows, it is the STATION. The channel has no physical entity, it is merely a chunk of spectrum space, 7 Mhz wide(8 Mhz wide for UHF in analogue days). So it's past time our TV stations finally GREW UP and dropped their childish security blankets(the channel numbers) which they've been hiding behind for too long and start using their corporate names as their on-air identifications, i.e.: Station GTV-Melbourne - General Television; Station HSV-Melbourne - Herald-Sun Television; Station ATV-Melbourne - Austrama Television. Station NEN-Tamworth NSW - Television New England; Station CBN-Orange NSW - Country Television Services; Station RVN-Wagga Wagga NSW - Riverina Television; Station AMV-Wodonga Victoria(transmitter location determines station location) - Murray Valley Television; Station WIN-Wollongong, Southern NSW - Wollongong Independent Television(which should be forced to relinquish ALL holdings outside its home market). The list goes on...
***** there's still here in the Philippines Digital TV starting to be implemented to every channel and the shutdown will be in 2020 they've implemented the Japanese Standard since it has an early warning broadcasting system to save lives before an earthquake struck and national government announcement like a warning for an upcoming storm and to warn people using the Digital TV Signal from the Government.
Wow! That was creative! Of how you put the antenna on top on HSN7 to broadcast all the other channels!
What is the TV in the middle?
5:03 ATN 7 GTV 9 AND TV 10 IS CLOSING DOWN

What about the part were Australian viewers that are watching those channels via Cable or Satellite? They're not affected with the switchover, right?
The channel 7 montage took what felt like forever but in the end it was creepy (I’m from the uk)

The American channels did not close in that way and if the South American countries are missing, turn off the analog transmissions
Are there places in the world that still use analog tv or has the world gone digital?
