Bandmaid is simply the most talented hard rock band around today. There are no weak spots. They are brilliant in writing songs. Lovebites is another Japanese band that equals them in talent. There must be something in the water there. Both bands are amazing and if your like me, you will end up purchasing a lot of their music. 🤘🏻
They have the amazing all-female predecessor band "Show-ya". They are formed in 1981 and still active (they're pushing 60). I just found them today and the technique and vocal is incredible considering they were a 80s metal band. Now I have 30 years more b-m entertainment to look forward to.
When Akane walked out on stage fans gasped in terror cos they thought she had an extremely large head. Then they realised Akane was just wearing her little hat.
At 3:27 during Misa's bass solo, you'll notice she tucks her pick underneath her index finger so quickly that if you blink, you miss it.. and she doesn't even miss a beat.

You already did "Onset"! Nice... It´s a fantastic instrumental. It´s like a song and Kanami´s tapping (lead guitar) is like the voice that´s missing in the "chorus". It´s their song to give Saiki (lead vocal) a break for her voice. Some other facts for you: MISA (bass) and Akane (drums) are killer. They are best friends and playing as an rhythm section since 10-15 years. They had the same music school and both have learned jazz there, so it´s easy for them to improvise and it always sounds like they are doing their own thing, but so precise and well-thought it fits perfect! Kanami (lead guitar) is writing most of the songs and Miku (back vocals and rhythm guitar) is writing the lyrics with her. So they are writing their own songs since right about 5 years and there is no casting behind this group like it´s usual in asia regions! Their chemistry is off the charts in my opinion and the reason they are the best rockband IMO! And they are only 30 years old or a little bit younger... Congratulations you have landed on the best active Hard Rock Band in the world. The are all Top-Notch Musicians and damn good songwriters. They incorporate the Best elements if Metal, Hard Rock, Funk, Punk and Pop. Their extensive catalog draws from those element to form a unique sound of their own. I have yet to hear a track that you can call subpar. My personal favorite tracks are: Puzzle (live), Moritorium (Live), Play (live), Real Existence (live/MV), Secret My Lips (live/MV), Renne (MV), Dice (MV), Alone (MV), Turn Me On (Live) better stop there otherwise I will list all if them.

I get a ton of suggestions but Band Maid really stood out to me. After the first minute I knew I was hooked. I can’t wait to keep going down the pigeon hole!
Technical excellence on show here...and I'm sure Band-Maid fans love that moment when Miku is almost alone, sawing that rhythm guitar in half...then bass and guitar crash in and carry their little 'pigeon' upwards until she soars like an eagle.
"The bass player keeps steeling the show..." MISA MISA MISA. The ladies are all immensely talented, but the rhythm section is what always really grabs me. Misa and Akane are masters of their instruments and together always just groove so hard. Of course take that foundation and then throw Kanami's master guitar work, Saiki's amazing voice, and Miku adding her layers of harmonies and rhythm guitar, and it's just straight unmatched bad-assery. We are truly lucky and blessed to live in a age where these ladies exist, found each other, and the internet exists so the rest of the world can enjoy their magic.
You have a good ear for what is happening. Kanami on lead guitar is a master in playing with the timing. If you want to see and hear more of Akane's and her drums, there is only one recommendation: "Freedom" live from their February 2020 concert.

If you want emotion, you need to ask someone to send you the acoustic versions of Puzzle and Anemone from the Zepp Tokyo concert !! Just Saiki the lead singer, Kanami the lead guitarist and an acoustic guitar !! Saiki's vocals will impress and so will Kanami's backing vocals !!
There is a thing with Japanese bands being so good that seem to leave the rest of the world behind at the moment. Band Maid are the best heavy rock band in the world today. I would not call this "showing off" ALL of their songs are of this caliber. This song was written to give Saiki (and Miku) a singing break. Play was supposed to be the song that did that but they liked it so much that they added lyrics and made it an Audience participation song (not that the other songs weren't already!). So for more of the same style listen to PLAY

Although Akane performs a solid drum solo in Freedom I'd probably recommend watching "Secret My Lips". That one shows the band's writing skills... they write and arrange their own music. Unfortunately this version of Secret My Lips, from their UA-cam channel, is a music video (of a live performance) and not of their actually, stellar live performance video of the song.
They never released this on CD, it was only a live concert piece, known as "Saiki's pee break" because they slotted it in the middle of their concerts to give her a break. You can hear their jazz, fusion, prog and punk influences, among other things. I hope you do more than just one more, because they have a catalogue of around 90 songs posted around youtube, and I've never heard a dud, except when it's a fancam and the quality is poor.
Unfortunately we're going to find out that their life is totally different from their Studio I mean it just so much better these rules are in their element live
