YC will not be stopped by such minor details, they will be disrupting the field of Nobel Prizes with AI and a dogecoin stable coin (base on how often AI is mentioned)
Yes I think she really thought there was a Math Nobel. That being said there is the Fields Medal. I honestly doubt AI win get that medal in 2026 or 2030
"This time next year, you and everyone you know will have bought at least one thing during the year (that's like real, like a cup of coffee or a book) using a stable-coin." 1:24 I think plenty of people I know and much of the general population will not do this. Even if all vendors start accepting stable-coins as payment, what advantage is there to paying with Tether or some other stable-coin rather than using existing payment methods? The current methods of making payments seem to work fine and there is no obvious benefit, as far as I can tell, to switching to stable-coins for normal transactions. So plenty of people won't go through the trouble of either setting up their own crypto wallets and keeping track of their private keys for transactions or setting up accounts with third-party crypto payment facilitators.
Exactly. They're like an eco chamber of the chat rooms. It's still useful to know that millions will be invested in startups with such superficial views. And there's famously no Nobel for mathematics. She didn't even know that.
The reality is Y combinator is nothing special. They were in the right place at the right time where throwing enough capital behind startups would work. Lets see if they repeat their success in the next wave.
00:10 - 2025 predictions highlight AI’s influence and potential for Nobel prizes. 01:08 - Crypto will become mainstream payment method by next year. 01:59 - The emergence of stable coins solves marketplace liquidity issues. 02:49 - Merchants will increasingly accept USDC for transactions in 2025. 03:36 - Dogecoin value may rise based on government spending and crypto trends. 04:30 - Interest rates impact economic growth and crypto prices significantly. 05:24 - AI is a powerful deflationary force impacting interest rates. 06:11 - Future AI avatars aim to improve interaction quality.
Jared is spot on-looking forward to what will feel like over-the-counter customer/merchant experiences with AI. Progressive could transform buying insurance with a virtual Flo, letting customers interact with her iconic personality. Imagine ordering a Big Mac from Ronald McDonald-fun, on-brand, and feedback-driven for constant improvement. Huge opportunity for actors/actresses trying to break out right now. Train an AI agent to mimic your character and make it available through a platform like Hugging Face. Better yet, speaking of YC being largely marketplace-driven, create a marketplace for licensing trained models based on real people.
Widespread stablecoin use mean either that banks and asset custodians take on the responsibility of digitizing those assets, OR the customer has to spend money in order to turn their money into money. …I’m skeptical.
yep the economics dont make sense. i hope people wake up and start to question the fundamental basis for how bitcoin fits into the economics of consumption and production...
Banks will be the main lobbies of keeping banking traditional and over regulated so that only big 4s are ‘pretending to compete’ for the largest markets.
So happy they are ‘rooting’ for Elon, Jesus, who needs social security or education, health care for the poor, why? I have no problem with making money, lots of it, but such short sighted, and frankly callous thinking disgusts me.
The visa signature interchange fee is 2.1% and I get back 2% in rewards. I’m not sure I would switch to a stablecoin if it was marketed as “your coffee is 2.1% cheaper”.
@@JB-yj9gb You guys are fools. The number 1 thing that really matters in a currency is stability and default risk. Bitcoin is incredibly volatile. There is no chance in hell enough merchants will adopt it to make it work so that consumers take it up.
@SSSS7-p8fI wonder if maybe you're thinking of something else, because they're talking about stablecoin usage. Bitcoin is a different thing. Tl;Dr crypto is not a monolith.
3:10 Have you heard about some Crypto exchange collapses or scams? Did the "desperately needed" technology prevent them or make it easier to punish bad actors?
Crypto and specifically stable coins have an incredible advantage over traditional payment rails due to their speed, transparency and security. Assuming everything is done correctly, these are essentially going to eat at C2C marketplace fees as they are providing that value for a fraction of the cost.
there's an implicit assumption we're making. 100M crypto wallets =/= everyone comfortable with a self-custody stablecoin wallet that can get hacked and they lose all their money (cannot occur with a traditional bank) the reason there are 100M crypto wallets is because everyone wants to buy risky lottery ticket crypto assets. will they feel comfortable enough to use those self-custody wallets to do their daily commerce? i'm not sure. another hurdle for mass adoption to USDC (and this is by far the hardest hurdle) is that it is braindead easy, seamless and fast to tap your iphone on the starbucks card reader. tough to beat that.
I listened to Eric Schmidts talk at Stanford , real tech visionary. Quite disappointed with the quality of discussion 😢, maybe better next time. Now on to watch a crew ai tutorial 😂
I agree with crypto but the rest are just saying what they invested in would work- that’s not a prediction smh, all personal advices and why is Elon even mentioned here
@Ari-pq4db They need an easy way to transact between humans and other AI agents. When you give agent a job it may need to make financial tansactions to acieve the result.
This AI thing is all just hype. It's uses are very narrow and worse still, it's already hitting a wall according to reports. I was around in the 90's during the internet boom. Internet killer apps were popping in from all directions back then. Right now, there is not yet an AI killer app. AI can't be compared to the internet as far as being revolutionary. I don't see AI changing the world as much as the internet did.
Yeah the internet truly was a real revolution in connecting the human species. AI clearly is not well defined at all. I'd have more confidence in AI if smaller incremental steps were taken rather than attempts of quantum leaps - it is too difficult of a challenge to take on like that.

Agreed 👍 👍 👍
What is a vertical agent?
vertical agents AS saas services.

But if a provider can make stipe’s 2.9% -> .9% while making the consumer experience roughly the same, could definitely see the business pull

Speed and transparency clearly dont matter as much as stability does.

The new data and encryption economy.
YC will become AI :D
New to this channel....are most episodes like this one? Uninspired, vapid, fanboy futurist takes?
I am coming in 2027 with something great
why is a zoom call with an a.i groudbreaking?
I would love AI to win a Nobel Peace Prize.

Why would someone want to do a zoom call with an ai ?
Wow, full founder mode, creating useful content all year round. Thanks, YC!
