  • For those that have always wanted to get the most from their audio interface. Now you can finally maximise it to the fullest with the OST-8 adat. After listening to our customers requests we have decided to respond to their needs. Many people rely on the ADAT format and almost every serious sound card includes an ADAT connection. Therefore, incorporating an ADAT output is simply a logical progression for our designs. Now, with the OST-8 adat we´ve introduced an 8 slot 500 series enclosure with its own built-in premium converter to make capturing, processing and digitalizing signals at the highest quality possible a reality and easy as can be.

    This looks useful. I’ve been looking at buying some 1081 style eq/pre’s and saw that Heritage made a similar option but there are no demos online. Hopefully we see one soon. I want to buy 4 of them.

    This looks perfect for what Im trying to put together for my studio. Please excuse the newbie question here. If I don't have the rack filled when I start out is it possible to run say a synth or Rhode to the input through adat into my interface? Or do I need to run those into a pre or di before hitting the OST 8? Either way this is now on my list. Awesome and thank you!

    so is the in switch essentially a bypass to the next part of the signal then the out is process then out and external is just send it to the adc ext

    • @heritage_audio
      @heritage_audio  Рік тому

      The switch determines which signal goes to the ADC. IN: The signal PRE 500 Series module hits the ADC. OUT: The signall POST 500 Series module does. EXT: The externall siganl on the DSUB on the back hits the ADC

    This sounds great. I am running an Apollo silver, one space rack connected via thunderbolt 2 to an Apollo 8Pre 1 space rack as my master . with a UA 4-710 D attached
    Through ADAT optical - can I attach your chassis through optical cable into the back of the Apollo eight pre-and then see eight channels of ADAT inside Apollo consul?
    Also, what I need to connect a cable for clocking ?
    I would like to use the 500 series for tracking through 500 modules and also possibly for mixing .. sending signal out the back of the Apollo and running through the 500 models back into proTools ..
    Is this a perfect solution for what I'm looking to do with my Setup ??
    thank you so much any help is greatly appreciated to all.

      Hi there! Yes, you can connect the OST-8 ADAT to the back of your interface via ADAT and you will also need to connect a BNC cable for clocking (BNC OUT from your interface and BNC IN the OST-8 ADAT).
      With regards to the tracking/mixing part, you can send the signal out of the back of your interface but the signal should be analog as the OST-8 ADAT only has ADAT out so, analog out from your interface to the analog inputs of the OST-8 ADAT, and then, ADAT out from the OST-8 ADAT.

      @@heritage_audio that's great news. Thanks for your reply I really appreciate it. :)
      The only thing I'm still curious about is the UA 4-710D is using a BNC cable from the clock out of the Apollo eight pre-interface, so would I be able to hook the OST - 8 ADAT to the clock out of the UA 710 D - I guess that would be like a daisy chain?

    • @heritage_audio
      @heritage_audio  11 місяців тому

      @@tootory9506 BNC from the clock out of the interface to the clock in of the 710D (slave) and then out to the clock in of OST-8. In theory this should work but we are not familiar with the 710D. If you have more questions do not hesitate to contact us directly at suppert@heritageaudio.com.

    Does the switch affect what’s going out of the physical outs or just adat outs? I struggle to understand if we could have 16 different outs using the adat and xlr outputs or are if both out types are linked.

    • @heritage_audio
      @heritage_audio  Рік тому

      Hi Noé! Yes, you can have 8 individual XLR outs, as well extra DB25 OUTPUT 1-8 and route 8 channels via the ADC EXT. IN 1-8(DB25) input through the ADAT out. Hope that clarifies the question.

    Starter bundle anywhere? With the ADAT this seems like a nice way to get into 500-series. Would love to see a bundle with this and two preamps somewhere.

    So any adat converter from RME to Arturia Audiofuse can work with this unit ? does i need the bnc clock cable for a 96khz 24 bit if i clock this to my audiofuse 8pre , maybe i need another device for the masterclock ?

    • @heritage_audio
      @heritage_audio  2 місяці тому +1

      Yes, any ADAT connection will work. The OST-8 can work both as a master or a slave clock via BNC. Hope this helps.

    If I have a lunchbox full of preamps, can i send slots 1 and 2 via analog output (I mean after going through the preamps), and send the rest of the preamps (3 to 8) via Adat output?

    • @heritage_audio
      @heritage_audio  7 місяців тому

      Yes, that would be possible as the OST-8 ADAT has a very flexible routing system allowing you to tap various sources for the A-D conversion. Take special note of the 8 switches on the front panel that let you decide exactly what will be sent on to the converter.

    Question: Why is there no OST-8?!
    It’s not only Heritage, most companies skip the 8 channel “bucket”clean 500 lunchbox with external power supply.
    Which to me, as an audio engineer that can only count in 8s, a stack of two or three 8-channel lunch-boxes (boutique box of Pres, box of EQs, box of Comps) would be the perfect side-car for tracking, as well as for a hardware-insert hybrid mixing setup.
    Now with your new OST-8ADAT (500-series Adat-UAD Apollo Rack) unit, an 8-channel OST (ideally also with DB25s) would be perfect as an extension!
    The one additional scenario you didn’t mention in the launch videos, for your amazing 3-way switching (In, Out, External….perfect) is that with another OST-8 connected to the DB25 External, you can audition Input (dry or bypass really) then 500-series A, then 500-series B and shoot out say which EQ or Comp is working better, EXTREMELY FAST.
    (I don’t know of Any faster more elegant way to do this. Obviously I haven’t touched the new OST-8ADAT, so I pray that when switching I,O,E that there’s no bad popping or clicking, but if it’s clean…game changer.)
    So Please consider adding an OST-8 without the ADAT to your lineup.
    I’m pretty sure you have all the parts already, just make the OST-6 chassis wider and use the 8-channel backplane. Done. (Uhumm… DB25…)
    Thanks guys, you’ve been Killing it this year.
    Can’t wait to see you at NAMM.
