    Its turning into a neat little budget rifle. It will definitely be interesting to see how it shoots.

    I did this on my Howa 1500 in 308. I had to bed my stock with the new triggerguard. Works nice.

    Good video,..thanks for showing this. I wish you could have shown it full of cartridges and then load and eject each one to show how well it works.
    I'll be ordering a kit tomorrow for my Weatherby Vanguard S2.

    Welcome back!
    I wonder if they make one for a Remington 700...? Not so sure if I like the effort required to seat the mag though.

    Supposed to put the new trigger in with the magazine inserted so it settles right and u won’t have a mag insert issue 👍

    murpheymuskets, have you shot the gun with the clip in yet? I found they do make one for a Rem 700 but want to know how the clip holds up in shooting being a polymer plastic vs an aluminum.

    Nice video. I like the Weatherby Vanguard rifles but i can't think of a reason i would need a detachable magazine on one. Deer and groundhogs don't normally stick around for more than a shot or two. Although I would give my left nut for a Ruger gunsight scout in .223 for coyote/ groundhog hunting and that has a detachable magazine built in.

    Weatherby's torque spec for the guard screws is 35 in. lb. according to the manual that came with my rifle. I don't plan to buy this kit, but my Weatherby Vanguard S2 7mm-08 will shoot 1" to 1 1/2" 5 shot groups at 200 yds. with 139 gr. Hornady SST's and 45 gr. of IMR4350 all the time. Remington can suck eggs!

    Fortunately with my Vanguard it was a complete drop in. No bedding or shimming required :)

    You know you can modify the stock metal trigger guard to accept the magazine. I did it to my Howa 1500 S/A and it works flawless.

  • @SEPTEMBERMAN
    @SEPTEMBERMAN 4 роки тому +1

    oh ok. This magazine has ZERO spring tension I went through two different magazines (warranty exchange from Howa) and their both the same...no spring tension. I can remove the mag base plate without pushing the detent in...effortlessly. Sure it's not for a semi auto but damn it needs better stiffness then it has.

    I have much better luck loading any of my rifles when the action is open rather then closed. This process seams to allow proper alignment and seating without added pressure it the magazine.

    I recently did this 10 round conversion to my W/V series1 .223. Its very easy, light weight and looks great. But I had trouble with the Second last round not being picked up by the bolt. Not the last, but the second last!!
    I took the magazine back and got a new one. Exactly the same problem.
    It cycle from 10 down to 3 no problem then wont pick up no.2 I have to push it a couple of millimeters forward with my finger, then the last round no worries.
    When we pulled the magazine apart we are thinking its because the last coil of the spring is pushing up on the front of the plate instead of the back?
    Has anyone else had this problem? ?

    • @murphysmuskets
      @murphysmuskets  10 років тому +1

      I have 3 magazines (2) 10rd and (1) 5rd and none of them have ever suffered from what you are describing. It sounds to be like your triggerguard might not be sitting in the stock properly; and its off just enough to make that 2nd to last round hard to grab.

    • @dhern2613
      @dhern2613 10 років тому

      Thsnks for the reply. Gun shop suggested that too. I took the trigger gaurd off to having a look if there was anything obvious, and checked that the screws werent loose etc. Perhaps the factory Weatherby stock may need to have some material removed at the butt end of where the trigger gaurd is mounted to get it to seat properly? I am a Fitter machinist by trade, but new to guns.

    Dude, I don't mean to be negative, but you can't be giving the mag a non recommend without shooting it. Especially because it has less spring pressure than a pmag, it's a single stack 5 round 308, a completely different design.
