Play the percentages? Luka is shooting 39% from 3PT this season, and only Steph has attempted and made more Threes than Luka this season, and that's with him facing by far the most double-teams in the NBA this season.... If they hadn't doubled Luka all season, he might be shooting closer to 45% from 3PT on the season.
However I do agree that doubling Luka is not a good strategy, especially with no Kyrie. Luka's too good at passing out of it, and his other teammates are too limited offensively to hurt you as much when you play them straight up.
At the same time, I also can't endorse your proposed strategy of just hoping Luka misses... That's also not a good strategy for a guy who is the best scorer since MJ.
There is no answer for Luka. Imagine if he wasn't just playing with other teams leftovers.
The problem with calling Luka a “mediocre” 3p shooter & then citing his rookie season & his career average is disingenuous. You go by the current season and he’s the 2nd best 3p shooter in the NBA behind Curry his volume is way up and his efficiency from 3 is up because he worked on his catch and shoot game and is taking the most this season in his career by far and he has changed up his shot this year as well for a quicker release along with not fading back so much on his step backs. You can’t call any shot Luka takes a bad one minus the half court heaves at the end of quarters another reason why his 3p% is up he’s taking less of those this year by a wide margin.
Nah Luka have often the last ridicules Shot in a quarter and is always double teamed. He doesn‘t matter what his stats says… Like other players (embid etc.)
He would've scored 70 if they didn't double him. Luka ain't hunting the iso step back but wants to drive 1vs1 against the big so they don't have a rim protector to help. Luka shooting 79% at the rim... Imagine if he shoots 8-16 from 3 and you still let him drive 20 times

I agree with a lot of these. However, I think Lucas offense is so crazy advanced and it’s almost impossible to execute any kind of defensive plan, and I think defensive laps says like it happened to sense are very common in those situations. You agree something in the huddle but then once actually you get to there Luca is always like two steps ahead of you, so you kinda lose track you tried to improvise you try to solve the issue quickly, but Luca like I said he always knows what to do. Therefore it’s pretty much impossible to stop Luca and I think, especially if he plays motivated like he plays the sons. It’s going to be very interesting to see if he ever gets off the Mavs because they are not a good franchise for him. He needs to go somewhere where he will have a real team and once that happens oh my God I don’t know if anybody can stop him. He could honestly go on MJ like run and win a bunch of championships.

I see what you tryna do but a little more substance and a little less adjectives would go a long way. In the first 20 seconds there is 2 already pretty major mistakes. He is the 6th youngest player to achieve that feat, and he said "who sucks?" not "whose house is this?".

This game is a great eye test example of why Luka isn't the same as Harden. Luka is just a big dude and doubles rarely lead to resets. He stands, waits, elevates, corner 3 or open dunk. It's incredible

Luka sees double every game. If his teammates are making those super high quality and super open shots, they'll have 0 losses right now and Luka averaging at least 30 assists.

I disagree at 6:17, I don't know if you've read the "Numbers", but in 28 games (good sample size) Luka is averaging 10.4 3PAs per game hitting 4.00 which is 38.7%. MAJORITY of these threes made are also step back, hand in your face threes. You CAN NOT let him continue taking these shots with no intention of fully stopping it, thinking of it as "Let him take that" threes. To correct you, right now, he is an amazing three-point shooter off the dribble and even spot-up. Arguably the 2nd best 3-point shooter this season behind Steph. Alright let me continue watching and see if this is just a one-time "numbers" mistake.

Early in his career the Luka step back was as low as the mid to high twenty percent mark but year after year he has been in a more selective less showy more makeable three point shooting style that has made him a much better shooter than he was early on. What is his percentage in the last three seasons? Any other player and you can let him do what you suggested. What happens when he starts to drive on single coverage? It’s hard no matter what you do. Your best bet is that he has a really bad shooting night. Good luck with that!
You make a lot of valid points. Unfortunately, teams and coaches have tried a multitude of defensive coverages since he was 16, and if there were an answer, someone would have employed it by now. The only defense I have seen him genuinely struggle with is the box-and-one, although that is not a sustainable defense for 48 minutes, let alone an entire playoff series.
