So when I was a kid, The Groovie Ghoulies had a live-action sequence called 'Mad Mirror Land', where the main three monsters chased a nemesis into the real world for the one and only time. Either this sequence was made for a crossover with Looney Tunes (no joke, this happened) or it came from their own series and was adapted to the crossover, because it was lame and sucked (No Bugs, people - NO Bunny). When I saw this, my feeble not-10-yet mind thought maybe they really could do this - and I realized this might not be a good thing, depending on who came through. Still works as a freaky acid sequence.

    • @jadestep9624

Simple. The studio and staff who worked on the movie clearly cared about the source material.
Therefore they didn't have to TRY and make a good transition. They just focused on accurate betrayals and worked from there.
I don't know anything about film-making but I do know that a lot of movies these days are made by people who clearly don't care about the source material. It's just some big overrated Studio that only cares about the money.

I lost my grandfather 10 years ago. My grandpa had sortve evolved into a grumpier guy as he got older, but when I was born, my mom said it rejuvenated alot of his youthful happiness. He cherished me so much. We used to go fishing all the time at this park near our home, and when my parents were having a rough time, he immediately took me in. We got the Wii when it first came out, and I was little at the time, maybe Kindergarten age. But I remember me and him playing Wii sports bowling or golfing for hours on end, almost having tournaments of it. When he was getting sick, I didn't understand the situation before it was too late. And when I realized he was gone, it tore me apart. I'll always remember the good times, and I miss him alot.

It's hard not to cry watching Fat Albert for the same reason you might cry watching the Santa Claus from Miracle on 34th Street. The sincere kindness and sweetness and well-meaning and good-doing of Albert is something grown people are rarely treated to media aimed our way. It's not a joke -- he's not an idiot or crazy or boring or weak -- he just *means* it. It actually feels more magical that someone could be that good then that they could be a cartoon character.

The characters translated very well from animation to live-action, the plot is decent, and even the very little minute details are amazing! Like Albert's color fading away, the characters becoming more human as the movie goes on, etc. It's not a masterpiece, but it is a beautiful movie, in my opinion. Holy shit man now I’m crying! My grandpa was bipolar during a time that people didn’t understand what that meant he always just kinda felt different and had a lack of close connection with a lot of his family because of it. However that wasn’t the case with me. Even as a very young child the two of us just connected… we just got each other in that way two kindred spirits do and we just understood each other on some level. We read books, played, games, made up stories, and watched tv and movies together. Whenever something came on TV that he thought I might like he would record it onto a vhs for me. One of those things was Fat Albert, the tv show and eventually the movie. The last time I saw this movie I was like 8 years old and all I remember is was Keenan Thompson in a fat suit. At that point in time I still had my grandpa and had never faced the kind of problems dealt with in the movie so it was just a silly movie to me. My grandpa passed away when I was in 5th grade and I haven’t really given fat Albert a thought since. But now I think I’m going to have to watch it again with a giant box of tissues because I just lost it with your video and hearing you talk about your grandfather made me remember the connection my own had with this character and how much I miss him. Man that moment when you said “I missed my grandfather” hit me so hard.
Recently one of my favorite voice actors of all time (being Kirby Morrow and if you don’t know him, he was known as Goku in a English dub of Dragon Ball Z for some time and he was also known as Cole from LEGO Ninjago) passed away on November 18th 2020 from unknown causes (the reason why I say unknown is because his family has not released a cause of death) and it legit broke me because Kirby Morrow helped me to inspire myself to become a better person because when I gotten into Lego Ninjago, I moved away far away from my childhood home leaving my closest friend (who I won’t name here) who I lost contact for a very long time so one day I remembered a show called Lego Ninjago which was a show my childhood friend at the time said he watched I decided to give it shot. I watched the show ever since and Cole (which Kirby Morrow played before he passed away) reminded me so much of my friend and when I recently found him on Facebook and started talking to him. This was when I found out Kirby passed away and so I think Kirby Morrow helped me found my friend that I desperately missed all this time and I wished I can thank Kirby Morrow for helping me but I sadly can’t so Kirby Morrow, thank you for helping me find my best friend! Rest In Peace Kirby Morrow! 😭
*edit as of Christmas Eve 2020*
Okay so two things, firstly thank you everyone who liked this comment because I didn’t expect to get so many likes and secondly recently Kirby Morrow’s brother (named Casey Morrow and roughly he made the post about 4 or so days ago) made a Facebook post stating the cause of death of Kirby Morrow which was Substance Abuse. As of this edit, Casey Morrow is not clear if the substance was drugs or alcohol and I don’t want to know which one it is since either way I’m still saddened that Kirby is still gone. All I can say I hope Kirby Morrow is resting in peace and I hope everyone who reads this comment have a great and safe holiday.

Hearing you talk about you grandfather made me sob. It reminded me of how I feel watching Holes. So many people find the movie okay or overrated…but it was my favorite movie to watch with my grandmother. I never really bonded much with her as she was narcissistic and distant but that movie was the one time she was human with me and would quote the part about the girl not wanting to dig and being told “that’s too damn bad”. I miss her so much.

When I clicked this video it was to go back on memories of watching this movie as a kid. I never understood the message like I do now and I can say this means a whole lot more. Lately things haven't been great I've been experiencing a bad depression episode. Seeing this and feeling what I feel lately brings a whole new meaning to it a swirl of bitter sweet and I felt your emotions. This makes me so happy and for a moment I felt something good without masking my pain. And it won't last long but I'll be thankful. May your grandfather rest in peace. ♡

The emotion you had made it impossible to not understand that feeling you had for this movie and the connection it had to something you loved so much. Thanks for sharing this.

Bruh. I haven't seen this movie in a long time but I remember it making me cry for reasons I don't remember because I was a kid. Nobody ever talked about this film so it kind of drifted out of my mind over the years but now I can feel the waterworks again.

You wasn’t going to be happy unless you had every nigga crying by the end of ur video. Bravo. U got me. The editing the track, the conditioning you massaged in, Cosby’s story, and how you connected it to ur life. Now ur Gfather lives on thru this movie as well. And it forces me to reach even further back to roots unknown and appreciate what was endured so that I may be here. And always let that past connection bring out the absolute best in you. As Fat Albert did for his live action granddaughter. Enough so to overcome life’s challenges.
Kinda wish I had come across this yesterday. Happy belated by 1 day to ur grandfather.

I actually just came from the Nostalgia Critic video on this film... And... I felt he was harsh over it, even the Rotten Tomatoes score too...
I didn't know about Fat Albert being a cartoon, but as a kid I saw the commercial and wanted to give it a try, and I LOVED it as a kid. Now? I got a lot of respect for the heart I almost forgot it had genuinely, especially cause I honestly lost my own grandpa not long back... And I sadly never got to spend much time with him growing up...
With how harsh Doug Walker was on the movie, I felt lead to try and find a more positive video on it, and I ended up finding it. Man, I really appreciated your video, and you earned a new subscriber.
🫂 Have a good one sir, and God bless. 🙏

The scene when they're all old visiting Albert's grave is the one that probably touches me the most. And it gives me joy to see that the rest of the gang remained friends and still had the childish spirit at heart, regardless if those were random actors or the real guys.
