SUPER JOB! I can't tell you what a relief it is to FINALLY see that Mauer picked open! It wasn't apparent in the video how diffucult this lock was to open, you made it look easy, but I can attest to the lock's complexity. LPL is probably one of only a few people on the planet to have the skills. Congratulations! Score one for the Tribe!
Honestly, it's almost a little annoying that failure to pick something is rarely if ever shown on this channel. Where is LPLs naughty bucket? Surely there's got to be one! Nobody is that good, right?
Considering BB's skill and how much effort he puts into a lock before giving up on it (sometimes days of effort) and comparing it to how fast LPL opened this I would wager that there is no naughty bucket in LPLs shop, he's just that good.
can anyone please tell me why i am watching this channel like an addict?! i don't really care about lockpicking, and never even thought of trying it. but this guy is just too interesting.
I'm right here with you dude. Been watching LPL religiously for a couple years now. I think it has to do with seeing someone who has mastered a craft, even if it's a craft I'm not necessarily into.
It’s probably the same satisfaction people get from watching other people play video games.. I think there’s a little ASMR element to this channel too, LPL is relaxed and calm, so it makes me feel relaxed and calm. I watch this channel when I’m trying to wind down lol
The combination of ASMR with a master at work is incredibly satisfying and soothing, is why. I have a strong suspicion watching LPL is much akin to spending time with Jedi Master Yoda.
LPL, calm smooth tone, picks like a master. Calm smooth tone, beats the pins out of the cylinder. BB, rough tone, picks like a monster, smoothly gets pin out of cylinder.
BB - "I've had this for months and haven't been able to get it." LPL - "Give me a second." I've learned so much from both channels, you guys are awesome!!
Just when I thought I understood how pins and locks work, you have to go and bring out this convoluted monster. And pick it. In an obscenely short time. Bravo, sir, you have a super-power.
Most doors in Europe have locks like this "monster". Some of them even more complicated. The door to my apartment in Switzerland for example has a Kaba Star lock with a chip in the key and the key itself looks a bit more complicated then this one. Without the chip, the lock won't turn. I'm not saying, that LPL couldn't still pick that somehow, though xD
TheComputerGeek010101001 he does it once on his own. Filming for hours would suck. Once he opens the lock he gets a feel for what this particular lock needs and then films it.
@ZaC kWinz I'm not trying to attack you, but I would like to point out that that really wouldn't help the picking order. That is however a clever thought.
@Thomas Bramwell He's more talented at locksport than Bill, but you can tell he guts a lot of locks before picking and does a lot of second takes. Never shows his mistakes. Bill just lets the camera roll and buggers it up now and then 😆
Thank you for this info... My son lost my Harley key years ago and after several years I decided to ride the old girl but no barrel key to be found anywhere, a lock smith would be 200 bucks to even come out "I live in the mountains" so after watching you and others on you tube I purchased a set of HUK picks for 20 bucks and within 4 min I had the 4 barrel locks open. As soon as the cutter arrives I will cut some new keys AND most of all the locksmith I had called never showed up as he said he would. Now I don't need him AND I learned a lot. Thank you LPL.
Oh sweet!! New series? Great work buddy, you made that look easy ;P I always love to see what's in peoples naughty buckets. I would also love to see your whole collection one day..
Wow your skills (as well as BB) never ceases to amaze me, your videos are truely jaw droppers. That Mauer is one nicely machined lock with so many nuances to get through in order to defeat it. Yes you made it look quite easy, but just looking at its innards after you gutted it has me baffled in how you dismantled this gem...
Great video. Kudos to Bill. It’s encouraging to me as a beginner to see someone as skilled as Bill run into things that he has trouble with. Also encouraging to see that the stuff that beat Bill isn’t impossible. Thanks gentlemen! You are both great teachers. A few questions: What do the passive pins do? How do sliders work? What do the numbers on the sliders mean?
I was wondering about those numbers as well. They weren't in order, so my guess was that they were some type of depth or size measurement so that the key could be cut correctly, but LPL said that he just had to push them out of the way (I think that these were those parts he was referring to...) far enough so that they weren't obstructing the rotation of the cylinder, so that doesn't sound right...
If i had a naughty bucket and you came over and pulled one out and waved your magic picks at it and watched it roll over like that, the next video would have been of me comming over and throwing a shoe at you. Bill took that very graciously. Great pick man.
You could tell from the loud clicks when the pins set that there was a lot of tension on the wrench. I am surprised that worked with the spool (mushroom?) pins present.
You guys that can do this are truly amazing in my opinion. There are things I can do but this is not my vocation and it is really magical to see skills like these and Mr Bosnianbill. You are fantastic! As an electrical engineer I am very ignorant but very intrigued by this talent. I wish all the best to you and yours!
They slide to the right and left into the slots on the side of the core, locking it. The small bumps about halfway through the sliders themselves align with the linear indent on the key. This aligns them in the center so that they dont protrude from either side of the core. LPL pushed them to one side to begin then picked them to the other side, but because of the the tension they do not protrude out the other side of the core.

Mr. Giraffe no 3 pre stage has plaque binding, may need 🎊to drill this too. 👍
Same, especially with the pick in the lock
Perio probing is funny stuff. Sounds like nonsense but is actually clinically important for diagnosis.
