No I’d say having a plan B is the smarter way because if want you really want fails you’re shyt outta luck if you have no backup plan. It’s like saying the cops should never call for backup regardless of how bad the situation is… Chase your main goal and focus on that entirely but also be mentally prepared for it to not workout like you thought it would
The more skills you have the easier it is to find a job that you could do if you had to or wanted to. If you’re only good at one thing, you’re gonna be unemployed and homeless if that line of work gets discontinued. Also there’s a saying It’s crazy to keep doing the same thing the same way and expect different results
A basketball player being only good at jump shots will have to resort to passing the ball when his jump shot isn’t working on in a particular game or if it’s 1 on 1 he’s gonna “slowly die” so-to-speak… If you’re only way of scoring is being proved ineffective against your defender(s), you’re just gonna slowly die as the game goes on as the other team keeps scoring and you can’t do anything about to counter it because your only plan or skill doesn’t work against them. Not having a plan B is like being ok with letting yourself die if the situation isn’t going your way. You’re favorite exercise isn’t helping you lose weight so you’re just gonna allow yourself to get fatter and fatter…
There’s no logic in not having a plan B. You can have one without really focusing on it but to not have one at all is ridiculous. Or at least not being willing to try another way is ridiculous.
@@becarefulwhatyoufish4764 If the basketball players goal is to be a good basketball player, you're right. However, if the goal is to be the GREATEST dunker of all time, a balanced training approach will NEVER result in the same dunking ability as concentrated training on one specific area
I resonate with the sentiment of disliking a "Plan B." Having a strong aversion to a backup plan can fuel my determination and commitment to making Plan A succeed. It pushes me to give my all, embrace resilience, and persist through challenges. By channeling my energy and focus into making Plan A work, I create a mindset that leaves no room for settling or accepting less than what I truly desire.

Yes, well said! I love Arnold's speech and find it deeply inspiring. There was just the one thing missing though, which was the acknowledgement of those who face obstacles like disability or inescapable loss. Sometimes your Plan A becomes literally impossible and to keep forcing yourself to achieve that plan becomes harmful to your well-being. When that happens, you have to be willing to change and adapt. And to be able to grieve the loss of the dream and the future you hoped you would achieve.

Not having a plan B worked for Arnold but it does not necessarily work for everyone. We have seen many people who tried very hard and sacrificed everything they had for ONE thing but they failed .So it all depends. If you have a plan that only depends on how hard you try then you do not have to have a plan B but imagine you were 35 years old and just wanted to start learning music and become a "concert pianist " or wanted to become a gymnastics world champion and you were not even talented like Arnold , then do you think it would make sense to not have a plan B ?
