Interviewer: ”So, Jarno (Anttila), and Mister Luttinen of Impaled Nazarene, how are you doing?”
Luttinen: ”Good, but it’s cold”
Interviewer: ”What about you?”
Anttila: ”I can say that it is cold, but gig was good, stupid people liked it”
Interviewer: ”What do you mean about that they are stupid?”
Anttila: ”It’s stupid to listen to metal”
Interviewer: ”You released the new album little while ago, what has happened after that, it must have been busy tour schedule”
Luttinen: ”It hasn’t been busy. We have played couple of gigs in Finland, one in USA, and after that we did a 10 date french tour, than we played in Greece with Children of Bodom for the the first time. Then we have had few finnish festival gigs, but I have to say that our touring agency system is not looking good at all”
Interviewer: ”Why is that”
Luttinen: ”We have problems with our touring agency, because in europe. You don’t know this, but I can tell you, there is three touring agencys that take bands like us, two of them went bankrupt”
Interviewer: ”Ouch”
Luttinen: ”It means that the last surviving agency can now choose what kind of band they want. And the promotion for Nihil ends in two weeks after a show in Sweden”
Interviewer: ”I heard that you had problems in France, some sort of censorship thing and you weren’t allowed to sell merch during the concerts, or what was the situation?”
Luttinen: ”The thing was that a local governor saw one our fans wearing the ”Smoke crack and worship satan” shirt, and after that he demanded that the show must be cancelled, and the show was then cancelled. But the owner of the club knew the mayor of the town, and called him that this is not acceptable, and we did a compromise decision that we were not allowed to sell any merch, and we were not allowed to present any of our songs that had satan in it, and we had to present the songs like ”This is the index number 5 of off the Rapture album, and we hope that you know what song this is””
Luttinen: ”I can tell you what we realized. We were followed in France. The General Directorate for External Security of France was in every single one of our shows in France. And, we found out couple months ago that the Security Intelligence Service of Finland has archive that has for example, us, Amorphis, Sentenced, Stratovarius. We all have been categorised as ”potentially dangerous individuals”. This is so pathetic”
Interviewer: ”This incredible, so pathetic that I can’t even believe this”
Luttinen: ”I can’t tell you how I found about all of this, but it’s a fact, it’s a fact!”
Luttinen: ”This is the last thing I wanted, that I’ve been watched and surveilled and that my phones are tapped and listened without me knowing, and that sort of stuff. I don’t want to be in anybody’s list. And I’m not a part of any organization, not political or religious, I’m so neutral person as one can be, but still I’ve been labeled with some sort off a label.
Every fucking time I come to Finland, when I arrive at the passport checking in Helsinki-Vantaa airport, everybody else are let go throuh the check by only showing the front cover of the finnish passport, but when it’s my turn, they run it through the barcode reader. I’ve counted, it’s seven pages of text about me that show up in the screen. He clicks three times the enter button, and just watches me like this (16:59), and then he counts more, and looks at me again like ”Who the hell is this guy?”. And I’m just standing there like ”Well, I don’t have a criminal record, you can’t arrest me because of what you’re reading from the screen””
Interviewer: ”Let’s talk about something positive. You don’t have to do anything now, because the show ended. What are the plans for later?”
Anttila: ”The job of today has been done, and we went to get more beer tickets, from the gig organizer, and I thought that I will drink really hard”
Luttinen: ”I want to say that the show was one the best shows of Finland that we have ever played, for me personally. Really awesome audience”
