    Omg thank you so much from being so polite and curious over our British biscuits and chocolate! I've seen loads of American videos where they really over react when it comes to our chocolate and sweets! I have so much respect! So happy you enjoyed our things!!✌🏼️😚

    Brit here. 1 - I don't know why this is in my recommendations. 2 - I don't know why I watched it. 3 - I don't know why I enjoyed it so much, but I really did. Had my first Hershey Bar after a childhood of seeing them in movies and was gutted. They're rank.

      Yes, the name Liebnitz tells you that they're GERMAN. Digestives are FAR BETTER. Plain with tea or milk chocolate... ...with tea, too. Did they actually discover that the Kinder Eggs held TOYS inside the inner containers?

    Since Cadburies was purchased / taken over by Kraft in America it has started to go downhill.
    They changed the recipe for the Cadbury Cream Egg and also have tried to sweaten every thing by adding candy pieces to it.
    Why change something, that isn't broken? :-(

    What I love about this and so refreshing is both you and your Mum (sorry I'm English so do the UK spelling) are so natural, no over dramatics, takes her time and says it as it is. You can tell by the comments this is a good video and I agree with others. If ever you were to visit the UK again and both made the journey. I'd put a bet that your Mum would would be treated as a local within an hour ;)

      I think that they're an Austrian or a German biscuit, the company Liebniz comes to mind.

    • @lorddaver1935
      @lorddaver1935 8 років тому +3

      You could call them that, but you'd be wrong. As Akaoni21 points out, they are made by a European biscuit company called Leibniz. They are, I think, Dutch, or Belgian. But the essential point is that they are NOT British. So why are they included in a box of supposedly "British" sweets/biscuits? Also, the Kinder Surprise egg is not British either. Its German (the German word "Kinder" sort of gives it away!). So why do people who send British "Candy" to the US for these sorts of tastings ALWAYS include these two non-British items? I know one could argue that you can - obviously - buy them in the UK. But that doesn't make them British. You can also buy Belgian chocolates, Swiss chocolate bars, American cookies (Oreos) in the UK too, but no-one would include those and say - "Here is some British "candy"", would they?

    You both made me smile so much watching this. Cadburys is so the best chocolate. You have such a good chemistry online. Thanks for posting. Just a tip for you... biscuits describes any small crunchy disk but different biscuits have names that are iconic. Digestives are a brand name and they are a particular type of biscuit. Supermarkets have their own brands of digestives but most people agree that the best is by a company called mcvitties. (Check the spelling on that). Cookies are also a name for a type of biscuit.

    • @paulsummerside
      @paulsummerside 7 років тому +4

      Jaycie Leigh the proper name for squash is cordial. Pop, is only ever fizzy, hence calling it pop. I believe you call pop soda for some reason. for us in Britain soda is simply fizzy carbonated water... soda water.

    Im a Kiwi, living in Aussie....we have a lot of those things (Brit colony etc) but we always refer to squash as in fruit fizzies...with actual fruit in it. I think the word squash came from the squashing of the fruit to make the drink....probably why I dont see raspberry or strawberry squash...but see an abundance of lemon, orange or tropical squash.

      +Simon Rhodes I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice. I've seen dozens of Americans eating Jaffa cakes. 80% of them eat them upside down. I've even heard them say "It's like sponge, with like, orange jello and chocolate on the UNDERSIDE." I can't explain why this would be their first instinct. I've seen the exact same thing with chocolate digestives and party rings. Weird!

    • @tikkj
      @tikkj 8 років тому +4

      +Simon Rhodes It's so that when you put it on your mouth, the part with the flavour hits your tongue rather than the bland part. I'm English with an American girlfriend, and it's one of the many small cultural differences that weird me out. They've also never heard of buttering their bread when they make sandwiches, and yet they call themselves a civilised country.

    To the question about the squash: Originally they were squeezed fruit juice into water waaaaay back in the day when they thought that the amount of natural sugar in oranges/apples/etc was the prime cause for damaging children's teeth (ignoring the amount of chocolate available at the time). As such they created a juice drink that required a water addition, late this was refined into a more concentrated mixture that is best served with water with a mix of flavors.

    Excellent, good humoured fun. Liked & subscribed. Good to see some quality sweets & biscuits being enjoyed & appreciated in the USA. BTW: Kinder eggs & Balhsen Choco Leibniz are both German, but have been widely available here for so long, they're part of UK culture too. Choco Leibniz are superb biscuits & are great with a good, strong coffee. You almost become honorary Brits for wearing the paper crowns. Keep up the good work!!

    Hi Kim. That's a really interesting video and it's nice to see you got to try our sweets and biscuits from the UK. I saw another of your videos and am really surprised at the number of comments from my own people about eating biscuits upside down. I must say I've never ever noticed that there was a correct way of eating them over here. Just like you I've always eaten them with the chocolate end facing down. I've always felt like an odd-ball in my country but never knew that I was *that* odd, haha. On a side note, I visited your country for the first time last year and noticed some differences myself :).

    I'm so glad you and your mum like our stuff. I'm always interested to find out what you Americans think. Best of all- you're the first person who thought to buy Terry chocolate oranges! Definite heaven for chocolate lovers. By the way, I love your mum's accent! So soothing to listen to

    We just call it Squash or juice. i call it juice but we switch from one to other.
    Squash (also called cordial (only for lime) "or dilute) is a non-alcoholic concentrated syrup used in beverage making. It is usually fruit-flavoured, made from fruit juice, water, and sugar or a sugar substitute.

    Chocolate oranges started out as chocolate apples many years ago. If you're ever in York, England where Terry's was based, you can visit Mr Terry's house and eat chocolate orange cake.

    9:00 I think it's called squash because the fruit is squashed to make the juice, it was probably used before they started to make it concentrated.

    Thanks for the video. I used to eat boxes of Maltesers when I was a child about 60 years ago. I used to go to the cinema and eat a box of them while watching the movie. BTW. Kinder eggs are German. Dip the Jammie Dodgers in the hot tea. McVities chocolate digestive biscuits are good dipped in hot tea. Not for too long or it will break and fall in the tea.
