Very thankful for people who do the math and consider the people!!
A boring dystopia.
I know. It's scary how much it ties into all the other economic, social, political dysfunctions in the USA today.
These videos are fantastic.
This is the first group I have seen which emphasizes the conservative values of urbanization. Very clever.
Can you help me understand what are the conservative values of urbanization?
@@racewiththefalcons1 Not the same person, but in my experience, the benefit of urbanization/cities is usually argued from a cultural, lifestyle, or environmental standpoint. Strong Towns was my first exposure to argue for urbanization from a financial standpoint, i.e. "Balance the budget" . Historically this can be seen as a conservative talking point. Building incrementally overtime and seeing what works can be seen as a conservative (i.e. the opposite of risky) form of development
These are very interesting talks. Keep up the good work. Thanks
The music was a great choice here. It captures the eerie nature of our towns in America and creates a sense of urgency or peril. That was my perception as a viewer.
I haven't seen your entire library, but simple videos like this that can be used to help wake people up to the bizarre world we've made for ourselves are great.
Another great video. I usually prefer longer talks or lectures, but I'm quite enjoying many of these smaller snippets, especially as they play one after another. Great work 👍👍
Great stuff
So what are the consequences
Hey Max, the consequences of an auto-centric development are numerous. They include the enormous expense of expanding and maintaining streets, the creation of towns and suburbs that are not walkable, thus people walk very little which is not in line with a healthy lifestyle, the breakdown of community fabric, the dispersion of destinations which necessitates a lot of time to reach anything, the normalization of driving fast to get where you need to go quickly which leads to thousands of accidents, injuries and deaths per year, and more. I invite you to check out our articles on these subjects: www.strongtowns.org/stmedia
