宋溪（馬來語：Sungkai）是馬來西亞霹靂州馬登巴冷縣下轄的一個城鎮和巫金，也是縣內人口第三多的城鎮。其北面是美羅，南面則是慕亞林縣之地羅叻（Trolak）小鎮。宋溪的名稱來自於一種叫做"Sesungkai"的樹木，該樹木在宋溪河旁可見。
Sungkai (Malay: Sungkai) is a town and mukim under the jurisdiction of Batang Padang District, Perak State, Malaysia. It is also the third most populous town in the district. To the north is Bidor, and to the south is the small town of Trolak in Mualim District. The name of Sungkai comes from a tree called "Sesungkai" which can be seen beside the Sungkai River.
Shot in January 2024. Color graded to own taste using a powergrade as base, DaVinci Resolve 18.

This channel is a treasure trove of M'sia town histories.
Thanks for your comment. We normally got the 'history' bits from the recollection of those interviewees, through their interviews. As we hardly have time to dig into the real history other than the not too reliable wikipedia as a source.
I just explained to one audience that our video isn't documentary, it's just a vlog presentation to capture what we see and what we hear from locals, mostly.
Top-notch production and well-thought-out documenting. The entire program feels genuine, heart-warming, revealing and touching. The attention to details is laudable too - I can understand Cantonese and found that the translations are on point in multiple languages too.👏

Good of you to mention the late storyteller Lee Dai Sor. As a kid, I used to listen to his fabulous tales on my grandparent's redifussion set. Can't say I understood all his stories at the time, but it was his voice and expressive way of storytelling that captivated me and remain in my memory to this day.
It was an era kind of by product, something nostalgic. Old days are always more interesting than the monotonous modern life
My husband and I were in Sungkai last weekend. We camped at Sungkailand, a beautiful campsite.
We were so lucky as the campsite operator, Uncle Megat, brought us to the Perhilitan Conservation Centre and to Kg Orang Asli Jernang. Omg upstream of Sungai Sungkai is absolutely beautiful❤️
Had lunch at Sun Kee Salted Chicken and also to Pasar Pagi Ahad Sungkai. Of course, we dropped by at this roadside stall selling petai which Orang Asli harvested from the jungle. The petai stall has been in operation for many years. Located right across the famous Nasi Bamboo restaurant.
Of course, Sungkai is famous for the nearby Felda hot spring at Sg Klah. Beautiful place and beautiful waterfalls upstream.

I went to school in kuala kangsar in the from 1970s till 1980s..my only memory about sungkai was the train station.. This is the first time i see sungkai, the real sungkai from another person's lense.. I love this nevertheless.. This is our malaysia..

We actually met up with someone from originally from Kampar yesterday, and he told us all about the small kampung he grew up in (his brother in law runs a kopitiam there still).
So now we will be adding Sungkai to the road trip list as well 😁
If you have time, along that stretch of old road, there are many small towns worth visiting, each one is not far from the others

I really appreciate videos like this, showcasing the stories of little towns in Perak. Though, I understand using AI created image will help people understand visually how things looked like back then. But as we know AI generated images aren't 100% accurate in their depiction of certain things, so it might be counterproductive -- in some way misleading. I think it's ok without having some certain images relating to the story in the video, especially if they don't exist. Because the imagination of your viewer will be able to fill the 'gap'.
Nonetheless, really great work! I have been following your videos, and loved all of them! Keep it up!
Thanks for your support and comments. The usage of Ai is just to help younger generations to understand the situation, it's a time consuming thought process to find appropriate images to fill in after analysing the interviews to preserve the integrity of what the interviewees were trying to convey.

请问乡村是哪个路口进？ 很久以前我去seri manjung经过几次都只是记得toll后转右手有马来餐厅榴莲挡然后就是petronas和斜对面有一间华人kopitiam..
可能都是工作关系不是去旅游所以没认真找过kampung在哪里
Petronas 油站前一點的左邊路口轉入至交通圈再轉左
新村入口是在後街靠近宋僑俱樂部，google斗母宮就能找到
