Trying the Jimmy White kick bank shot game winner | Your Average Pool Player

- Most people know Jimmy White as an unbelievable snooker player with next-level scoring ability and a larger-than-life persona. In the 1990s, Jimmy tried his hand at American pool and tore through lifelong pool players on skill alone. When he came up against all-time great Efren Reyes in the 1999 World Professional Pool Championship, it looked like Jimmy would be going down 9-7, but he stepped up to the plate and bashed an unreal kick bank carom to win the game and force a decider.
In recreating this shot, it became clear not being left-handed was going to be a real problem for me, so I mirrored the footage after whiffing 7 of the shots in a row. After a while I got frustrated, but my frustration was nothing compared to how frustrated Jimmy White must have felt after competing in 6 Snooker World Championship finals and not winning any of them. The life story of Jimmy White is really interesting, and I encourage anyone who's interested to read or watch more about it.
As always, if you want to suggest a shot, let me know in the comments.

“79 is great in the same way that the Great Depression was great, in that it was actually very very bad”... nah what a quote 😂
I LOL'd really hard on that one.
i was shocked by how he said it
same reason i came to the comment area on this quote. lolll
”... and I collapse on the table, before remembering I’m in public and I’m allegedly an adult man”
@@jonswe5753 just love the 'allegedly' in there 😂
I must admit you currently produce the most entertaining pool videos by quite a margin. Very well produced and combined with exactly my type of humour.
Sharivari I’m subscribed to you too. Thanks for what you do.
Dang, thanks for saying that. I think your videos are amazing. Always a great watch.
@Rollie Williams Brahhhh.... u took a long time to execute the shot, lemme hold ur beer n u do it real quick.
Let's see a match between you guys. Race to 11? I bet it'll get many viewers I know I'll wanna watch live in person.
this is really really impossible amazing shot😆😆😆😆👍👍👍👍
“Before remembering I’m in public and I’m allegedly an adult man” may be the most relatable sentence ever spoken
So the takeaway, for players looking to improve, is this:
1. Be Efren Reyes
2. If you can't be Efren, at least be Jimmy White
3. Don't be people who aren't those 2 players
CreeDo Lala if you want to beat jimmy white, be Ronnie OSullivan
@@kylefast9650 true that. Actually if you want to beat ANYone, be Ronnie O'Sullivan.
@@kylefast9650 Or be Stephen Hendry. That dude was a monster in his day.
CreeDo Lala that’s true
Rollie Williams yes, but Ronnie has 300 more centuries and the same amount of ranking titles and he is still going so I’m going to take Ronnie. Hendry was amazing however
Loved this video! Great to see Jimmy getting some recognition, he was unbelievable in his day.
Agreed, and this is one of many his shots to remember.
@@maksimkempe3425 he is by far the greatest snooker player of all time that never won the world championship
My favourite snooker player when I started watching in the 1990s.
It's such a shame he was more into his partying lifestyle than practising. He could have easily been one of the best
Check out my snooker 147 on a pool table video!
Your editing gets fancier, and your videos get funnier with each one. Please keep them coming.
Thanks, Jesse!
Agreed! Good luck at the open my brother is playing in the qualifying tourney in Vancouver BC technically Richmond at Q1 billiards
These are without a doubt the most entertaining pool vids on UA-cam. Thanks for the free content Rollie!!
Hahaha, I wouldn't have it any other way, Anthony.
This series has really motivated me to play pool more often
I literally watched every single video in this playlist. They are probably the most entertaining pool videos on UA-cam
I just love this video. Every time I feel down, I come back watching this video and it just gives me courage to continue my work. Thank you so much!!
Amazing man rewatching all your videos.
So refreshing
Awesome, this is the funniest one yet. Great video Rollie!
Damn! Jimmy white really did a number on you 😂
@@jebbmcafee7138 ouch.
@@jebbmcafee7138 hahaha, yeah no sweat I was just remembering the shot and got PTSD.
Rollie Williams you should recreate Jennifer’s shot on the three ball!
this is not skill , this is fluke and luck... gosh,,
@@williamkinglopez From Jimmy or Rollie?
Thank you so much for this video. My dad is a massive Jimmy White fan and although I never got to seem him at his best (he's only made the World Championship a couple of times in my memory) I love him as he gave my father the passion for snooker that rubbed off on me. He's a class guy on and off the baize and the recognition you give him in this video, introducing him to many Americans who I assume haven't heard of him before, is unbelievable. I wasn't a viewer of your channel before but I absolutely am now.
Pool aside, this is THE most fun UA-cam film I've seen in years. Congratulations Rollie, you may be an average pool player but you're a pro video maker! I'm an average snooker player myself, but I have learnt a lot from your recent pool lesson vids, so cheers mate, genuinely.
I'm glad you never gave up. I would of been super frustrated. Great job finally making it.
Jose Sandoval would have*
Practice makes perfect!
Glad I discovered this channel! It's awesome that we get to experience the journey you go on
I dont follow snooker but jimmy white has my respect. He seems like an amazing player that never gives up and has very good sportsmanship.
Dude! what an awesome video. Enjoyed every second of it. Keep it up! your videos are highly entertaining.
I am a less than average pool player who at one time played very consistently with the intention to get better. With that being said I just wanted to let you know I ALWAYS watch your videos. Very grateful to witness your journey.
I have question that it's been quite month
Having this thought it's very simple question? Is there any app so I can place the cue ball and object ball wherever i want to practice these kind of shots.
Hey rollie, don't know if you'd ever see this but please never stop making content like you do. Your content is really awesome and brings a huge ass amount of happiness to me. Someday I was sick and felt really awful, went by the doctor and came home feeling really shitty and just watching these videos lifted my mood so much. Appreciate these videos, keep em coming
Hey Sheraz, you're the man. Thanks for watching! I hope you're feeling better.
Great video brother. I just can't imagine the effort you make while making the shot. Thanks and more power!
You are a special person, you managed to continue even it's the hardest shot I have ever seen before, you did it you are the best !
I'm subscribed to a lot of very popular youtube channels and IF I watch their new videos, I do it on my own time, when I have time. Not yours. As soon as I see average vs, pro pool player I'm dropping whatever im doing and watching. Favorite series on youtube hands down. Thanks man
Spencer, that is really nice of you. I'll keep making them if you keep watching them.
just amazing! miss your videos!
I remember watching that game back in the day. That shot still ranks among my all time favorites.
Love the videos man, keep them coming.
Your videos are great. Fantastic Work. Keep them coming.
I do remember spending loooong nights in the pool hall recreating shots from tv. Respect. Love your vids.
Great pool vid...your persistence is inspiring ! Pool is life and this is a life lesson...i will never quit ! This is how we learn from legends...copy them !
Absolutely brilliant. Much enjoyed 👍
Just started following Rollie's videos and I must say I'm learning a hell of a lot about the game I've loved and been playing for years.
I'm really glad you did this shot. I'm much more into snooker than pool and I love Jimmy White for his resolve and passion so this was great to see
I have question that it's been quite month
Having this thought it's very simple question? Is there any app so I can place the cue ball and object ball wherever i want to practice these kind of shots.
I said the same thing to Florian on his channel. I usually don't comment because my channel is rideshare related not pool related.
I know you worked hard for this and I'm proud of you man. I may not comment but I watch every single one of your videos.
Keep up the good work man. You better not quit.... EVER!
Lol, again, I'm proud of you.
Thanks very much. I treat pool like you treat rideshares ... NO LIMITATION
The commentary is great. Love the humor along with a great vid.
Good Work Man,
Love Your Dedication.
God Bless
Such a good serie of videos!
Props for sticking with it and recreating this awesome shot..liked and subbed!
Loving the series! More videos please!
This was amazing man. I’m so glad you didn’t quit!
Not gonna lie, I laughed out my beer at that great depression joke. Good work getting it done! Keep it up!
Tragedy plus time equals comedy. Thanks for watching.
“...I’m allegedly an adult man.” This got me😂😂😂 Great work on your videos I enjoy them a lot!
Great videos! Keep it up man, most interesting pool channel i have known.
Jimmy "The Whirlwind" White. Absolute legend.
Appreciate this series and this episode in particular made me laugh way too much. Hate to laugh at you failing so much but well done!
LOVE THIS SERIES!!!! MORE!!!!
Have to say, I love your sense of humor, and find your channel very entertaining, your humbleness is contagious.
I subbed....
Great video and don't change your attitude.
😉😁😁😁
Thanks, Frankie, I really appreciate that.
Honestly Rollie that was a really cool video, your patience and determination are inspiring :D I would have taken about 5 shots and given up.
I love these videos !! They are great and honestly teach a valuable lesson.. I love pool it’s 1 of my two favorite hobbies my second hobby is photography. The thing those both have in common is they look relatively easy but are very difficult and take years and year and years to truly master and both can make you feel like you will never get better and then... you do and it’s so rewarding !
To quote from Caddyshack - be the ball. Just stumbled across this channel and its legendary
This was an awesome video, I laughed out loud a couple of times bro.
Love your vids!!
Subscribed this guys is gold

One of my favourite youtube channels this is.
Brilliant video! Well done for persevering... and Jimmy "The Whirlwind" White is a god. Amazing player.
Fantastic Jimmy, always with a smile!
Right at the moment you made the 9 ball go in, even I got happy just like you did at the 80th attempt and I just had click the like button
Nice video, for real
I wish you would do a 100 more of these videos.. I love watching you try these pros shots they do on the first try

Jimmy is a snooker legend!

Awsome videos. Awsome. Keep posting. You have won a fan from Pakistan
So much gold in this video - well done
Your persistence paid off. Good
Jimmy was my favorite snooker player for years, absolute legend of the game
Hes a great pundit as well .same with hendry his commenting in matches is unrivalled
Hahaha, this was amazing. Great work, Rollie.
i don't watch nor play pool, and i had no idea about reyes until stumbling across this channel. i admire your dedication to reproducing insane shots and attempting to analyze the mechanics behind the shots. what it all really comes down to is that these players are absolute masters of geometry.
Finally man! Awesome 💪
UA-cam reccomend me this. This is awsome, this content is amazing.
I suggested this on your last video and I didn’t think you would ever do it because of the difficulty. I have never been so happy to be wrong
Must say...I respect your patience with these shots and some great content aswell
Nice job Rollie. Beautiful edits.
Love your stuff Rollie. It’s amazing that Jimmy went hill hill with the greatest pool player of all time and he doesn’t play the game !!
Good insight... well presented.. keep it up...
Excellent.
the video idea is really nice but what makes it great is you actually being funny and having good editing.
Thanks!
This was brilliant and Jimmy is fantastic..
omg new video!!
keep making these!!
Incredible man
Consistency is the key ! Liked it !
You're sense of humor is screwing me up in a great way right now lmao
Great video!
I know you're a pool player. BUT.
I think it would be really cool to see you try Alex Higgins famous Blue from the 1982 World Championship.
I know its snooker and it's a hell of a shot to start on. But perhaps something to try and branch out to.
Snooker shots. Just a thought.
Similar to the Corey Deuel's shot that he has covered, and others have already made videos trying to duplicate the higgins shot,
ua-cam.com/video/_jhuBOev0p0/v-deo.html
Sorry to be a kill joy.
Agree.
@Nathan-DTS if you really wanna play in the UK you'll find them, there are many in Scotland.Agree though, needle in a haystack job in the US.
@Satnav Simmo Only somebody who has literally never played snooker would say that. There's a good video on UA-cam of Virgo, Davis, Doherty, Taylor and Foulds all attempting that shot and none of them come close. And that's without a World Championship at stake.
@Satnav Simmo Neil Robertson is not a "half decent player"- he's one of the 5 best players in the world. And regardless of your achievements, you've never had to play that shot under the kind of pressure that Higgins was under. Yes, Neil Robertson played a similar shot but over slightly longer distance. But by the time he played that shot he was 74-5 ahead. The frame was over and it made no difference whether he made the shot or missed it.
Playing those shots in a club on a Saturday afternoon isn't really that difficult, I agree. Playing them under that kind of pressure is a different matter. The reason I don't know you is precisely because you've never done that.
Its amazing how players such as Jimmy pull out these shots under pressure. You are good and have a good understanding of the game and took 80 attempts. I suppose that's what makes them legendary.
I have question that it's been quite month
Having this thought it's very simple question? Is there any app so I can place the cue ball and object ball wherever i want to practice these kind of shots.
i was going to ask why dont you mirror the balls but you beat me to it. killer shot man you're a beast!
Do more of those videos i love them
this is a story about resilience and being staying true to the craft regardless of the outcomes.
Lucky shot 😅. GG , i like your video
Amazing
Amazing video
Love that Jimmy plays pool.. He s no bore to watch
love u r videos
My Father has met Jimmy White numerous times to watch him play and spoken with him and Jimmy is a down to earth man who is very humble and is very polite and as a little boy growing up I too respected Jimmy White and I even went to school and made my very own snooker waistcoat to wear when playing snooker at home.
Jimmy is and always will be the greatest snooker legend of all time and I am proud to still have Jimmy White as my idol.
LoL, good vid. I wish I had the time to do this like when I was younger. Family and businesses have robbed me of those wonderful free afternoons that I spent hour upon hour watching and playing this god awful wonderful awesome game we are addicted to.
Cheers!!
That was great!! I’m from the UK and I’m a Snooker fan. Jimmy does still play but not as much as he used to. He does a lot of commentary now though... if you like Jimmy then try Ronnie O’Sullivan... who also played Pool, and after 25 years playing snooker he’s still at the top of the game... the greatest snooker player ever!
Wooow amazing hard work 👌😍😍😍
