I am a Senior DS in a Recommeder System role and have interviewed over 200 people for a large company. I have also failed in countless interviews myself before my current role. this is a very unsatisfactory and abstract answer with zero technical depth: do not answer like this . Go into more architectural and technical depth instead of waffling . That “solution” about scaling was complete garbage in particular

No mention of infrastructure, SLA response time, business success metric, A/B testing, staggered rollout guardrails, etc. He just memorized some things on how collaborative filtering, kmeans, euclidean distance work which is a sign of a lower level answer.

You can do it. This video is beyond what you will have to answer during a data analyst interview. Keep studying and reaching out to people for referrals or jobs.
Don't call such interviewers who are just here to say things casually. I understand, nobody's paying him but atleast have a whiteboard. Explain things properly.
No where near to actual recommender system platform, it’s too bookish and focusing only around basic algo, - no view on architecture was presented - not highlighted scaling algo and platform - not discussed problems like cold start, ever growing features, ab test, metrics etc
