Thanks Amelia. Great reminder on the corner aids. I also use my seat as an aid to " turn the saddle " to gently stay in symmetry or alignment with my shoulders and the horses shoulders.
So glad this helped! I would love to have you at my upcoming live webinar: amelianewcombdressage.com/contact-and-connection-free-webinar-2024/?UA-cam&+DTR+2024
My son was just doing this : cutting corners, leaning on the corners, and pulling on the inside rein too much yesterday. How do you intuit the perfect video for our needs? How?! Thanks for the video! ❤
I found that so helpful thank you so much. I have a green horse and her bum falls into the inside of the track making her come of the track so those tips have really helped me ❤

Thank you for this new very instructive video! Enjoy them everytime! Unrelated question concerning saddles... Saddle I currently have is from Custom Saddlery and it has a double flap. I'd like to chanve to a monoflap. But hello knee blocks galore! How do you pick one? Obviously I can't try them all... 😅
Amelia I am sure can explain better - but to me there's a difference between a holding/suppling leg back and a gait aid leg back -for holding and suppling, the amount of pressure i use is much less and my leg only goes slightly back, and it's a constant light pressure release pressure release. versus when i ask for the canter my leg goes even further back and i use a lot more pressure and a slight kick/bump versus just pressure. Also my reins for suppling, my outside rein around a corner should be holding and not letting the energy out, versus when i ask for the canter it's not holding, i'm releasing that pressure so the horse can pick up the canter. hope it's okay to attempt an answer because it was helpful for me to think through what i do! just am no professional at all, so don't take my word as correct.
Yea we did our first show/dressage test a couple weeks ago and 100% misjudged our center line to wall turn into the corner at the start, cut it WAY too tight and deep, and pony walked over the white board! WHOOPSIES lol. And judge thankfully let us restart because it was a schooling show (tho still officially eliminated) but her comments were definitely need more outside leg to help supple and hold. So definitely paid attention to this video!
Question if anyone has the time or knows. I'm riding a very smooth horse with whom Im learning to slow his trot to keep up with his footfalls. My question is when turning in the post and trot my feet move out from his flank, heels down but when turning do I need to press into hiis flank the whole turn or just press his flank for a second instead of holding my foot against him the entire turn. It's a little harder riding him because of a quicker gate while staying in good posting form and turn at the same time. Thank you!

Very helpful thank you.
Thanks for the remainder!!! When you practice with the cone . How many meters from the wall to the cone? thanks
Enough so your horse can get by on either side! But doesn't need to be too much space!
@@AmeliaNewcombDressage Thanks
Thank you for the video. But isnt outside leg behind the girth the aid for canter, so how does the horse know not to canter? What is the difference?
Goed question

Be sure to use your seat to help your horse understand the aid!
What does it mean when my horse speeds up in the corner in canter and bends his head out but won’t go into the corner

Thank you! My horse’s shoulder falls in when doing circles. Any tips for that issue?
Try counter bending him a bit

Perfect timing for the video! Great job for getting out there at the show
Do you have any tips on what to focus on while riding a horse with osteoarthritis in both frontlegs?
Be sure to check in with your vet

Why didn’t I start watching these videos a year ago?
