No they did it correctly that top collar is called a spring perch and that is it's purpose, for adjusting the ride height. The bottom one changes the stroke length of the damper/ shock absorber which once is set should not be changed.
I bet Mark and Elliot picked those wheels. Classic Ti look. Mat at Angry Industries is an awesome bloke. He sorted me some coilovers for my HR31 coupe around 10 year ago which were pretty amazing on track. Get back to the strip and run a 10.
The S13 Silvia front suspension conversion is a favourite for the R31/HR31 cars you do have to use height adjustable coilovers but it gives you an unbelievable amount of steering lock it also allows brake upgrades now you have a floating disc, any skyline R32 or R33 4 piston brake caliper bolts on but you do have to re-drill your disc for 4 studs.
4 seconds in and I have to comment... really digged the 31s esp when you had guys made the Silhouette versions respectable in Sydney around the early 2000s! 31/32s , fav skylines! jappo! HAHA

I hope you're planning on brake upgrades, coz running 11s or almost 10s on stock single piston callipers is pretty sketchy. Being an early commodore guy, the first upgrade I went for was VT brakes, that was well before the power upgrades came along. I just don't wanna see all the work gone into this car to go to waste after you go through the gravel trap at the strip or up someone's rear on the road.

They GPS kit comes with Deutch connectors. wheels are a great fit - jdm r31s actually had the option of some BBS RG single piece wheels with skyline center caps :)
Please keep developing the R31, it’s such a cool build, maybe a built motor, better brakes etc just keep going with it 🙏🏼

Ahh noooo Scott, you should have turned the GPS sensor 180 degrees so the cable goes directly into the hole instead of under the sensor🙈
