I'm a composer myself, and I first discovered James in the 1990s after listening to a local radio program in America called "Christmas Carols From Germany". His "Morgen Kinder, Wird's Was Geben" blew me away with its beautiful melody and its galloping rhythm, and all of those gorgeous horns and choirs. Years later I heard "The Lonely Shepherd" and I just had to find out who was behind it. To my delight I discovered that it was by the SAME GUY - James Last. This continues to happen to me to this day. When I hear a particularly beautiful melody or arrangement on the Escape channel (satellite radio in the U.S.) - it often turns out to be a James Last arrangement or composition. What a fantastic musical legacy he left us! Bravo, Mr. Last. Your music will indeed "keep going", and the world will be better for it! RIP.
