Ок, новая фреза с компутером из Китая стоит 5К, что-нить бэушное на ходу в Нюёркшире - 3К, но мы легких путей не ищем и колхозим в гараже такое же за 20Килозелени и года труда с 8 до 5, профит!

I like this builder's style of "go big or go home." He used motors powerful enough to take heavy cuts in wood and plastics and, given the overall build, will be able to machine aluminum plates with ease and even do light machining in steel should he want to.
FYI - Something never mentioned in videos on CNC machines is that bacteria will breed in soluble oils in the coolant sump unless constantly circulated. Should you let soluble oils remain uncirculated for several days (I've observed this after a 2 week shutdown) the odor is particularly obnoxious. Of course, woodworkers don't use soluble oils for coolant so avoid this experience.

Superb CNC machine, but I have a question. Why not build the stand out of metal? He clearly has the tools and skills. Wood over time, temperature, humidity and stress moves, no matter how solid it is.

Глупый человек. Дерево не подходит для изготовления станины. Дерево изменяет геометрию при воздействии влаги.
Ну во первых он использовал старую, высушенную древесину (он из нее даже гвозди еще вытаскивал).
А во вторых он его обработал и покрыл веществом, которое не допустит влаги...
Ну и в третьих - откуда вообще должна взяться влага в мастерской. Это ведь вам не совдеповский гараж, где одна железная дверь между мастерской и погодой в -20. Да и пиво там явно распивать не будут на этом столе.
Так что выбор в пользу дерева - вполне оправдан!
