🌟 Wow, what an incredibly informative and detailed tutorial on installing DCC decoders in locomotives! 🚂 Your step-by-step walkthrough made it so much easier to understand the process, especially for someone like me who's new to this hobby. Thank you for sharing your expertise and insights! 🙏 👏 Your attention to detail, from testing locomotives before installation to using Kapton tape for protection, shows your dedication to quality workmanship. 💪 You've put a lot of effort into making this video helpful and educational for your viewers. 💬 What are some common challenges or troubleshooting tips you've encountered while working with DCC decoders? 🛠 It would be great to hear about your experiences in overcoming technical issues in model railroading!
Kapton tip. Cut a small piece of plastic and after you cut the tape, attach the end on the roll to the small piece of plastic. Now it's always easy to find the end of the tape and peel it back.
Do a follow up and let us know if the decoder is still working. I have had horrible experiences with ESU decoders. They always seem to be malfunctioning after about 6 months. I’m glad they are under warranty, but still, it gets replaced with another ESU decoder that maybe works or not. Maybe Walthers just buys garbage decoders from ESU at a cheap price.

I'm just the same as every one else. not an expert at all just doing what works for me. Thanks
I had the same issue but simply used tweezers to snap it in and worked OK. Thanks for this one , Mike

Good idea, thanks
I put this same decoder in two of the New RS-3s Atlas just put out. Pretty much the same process. The RS-3 shell was harder to remove than usual also.
Nice install. I too had to unscrew the lightboard in my current release gp7 to install the loksound nano.
You made easy work of the decoder install.
Well it was easy once I could see what I’m dealing with
Yes, those are easy to instal
The E24 connector is mechanically a big step from the N18.
Zimo anounced decoders with this interface too.
That's one reason I like n scale . Easy decoder install. Also, my daughter stole that light from me and found out it does multi color too.
Call the Police, Crime Does not Pay!
Eric, Those are easy and you did a good job. You should try to do some of the Atlas GP7s that are not DCC ready......John
I have moved on from the dark ages. I’m glad I no longer need to file frames to fit decoders
That would be intersting.
