Thanks Kenny. I knew about the tape and that it was used under the wrap somehow, but not how and why. Best explanation and demonstration on the internet. My question, which we will probably never know, is how many other cars that were not inspected this in depth had this same modification? My guess is these were not the only two cars out there like this.
Nope! There were more. They are going to have to inspect every car AFTER the race to determine a winner. This undermines the entire race.
All the JGR & 23x Toyotas were the same. I guaranty it but nascar didn't inspect the others #20, 19 ,23 & 45. JGR knew what they were doing. Should have points removed & a fine just like RFK had done to them.
Well, one thing for sure....none of the rest of them will try it for a while.......
@@dougfritz1387 They only inspect the first 2-3 cars and then one random car. The rest of the Gibbs and 23x11 cars were not among them.
Common sense question. If they
de/unwrapped every car in the field and inspected them all with this level of scrutiny, the post race tech process would last 2-3 days and cost tens of thousands of dollars for both sides of the equation. All forms of motorsports only techs the top 2-3 finishers (the ones that count) and nascar even pulls an additional “random” target. So, every risks a possibility of tech.
NASCAR is taking itself entirely too seriously these days. They're pushing their own agenda so hard that they've forgotten that it's the fans who make the sport.
nascrap don't recognize the fan side, actually, pick of any major sport. As long as sponsors* pay up, as long as there is a tv or cable broadcast, owners dont care. Owners don't car about butts in the seats! I have been to dozens of races. it is a blast, but owners (not team owners, the Nascrap industry) ruined it for me.
*they attempt to profits from fan, not the sport.
I don't fully agree with Kenny. everybody cheats, but when you get caught, you pay up. Bill Elliot knows all about getting caught. However, I lost respect of governing body long ago..I'm All for safety, not for created drama
Kenny Wallace breaks down “tape gate 2022” 😂
I walked away being a fan from the sport oh what about 7 years ago plus...When nascar started the points change and monitoring drivers comments. And I was 100% done with the Bubba lie. Thanks for the channel Kenny.
If they checked 36 cars with a fine tooth comb they would be 36 DQ,s lol
I doubt it. They would find a few more, but they need to come up with a better way of doing the post-race tear downs that are all the same and efficient so you know who won before you leave the track.
@@ethanweeter2732 I believe they knew before they left the track. This wasn't discovered a day later

NASCAR has always been full of drama. Love your comments Kenny. I miss you on the track.
You are sorely missed on race day broadcasting. Keep being "The Herminator" and thank you for your take. New subscriber Kenny.
Him and spencer are sorely missed
This reminds me of the story about why (maybe) Carl Edwards drug up from NASCAR when they threw that yellow flag at the end of the race for debris nobody could see thereby costing him the race AND the championship. Anyway the same guy who told us about that is also drawing parallels to the latest NASCAR made hoax. KENNY WALLACE I LOVE HOW YOUR MIND THINKS and your unique point of views!!! You've been right about everything, that I can tell. Keep it up!!!! You have some great angles...
I've never gotten over what happened to Carl Edwards!!! He was a legendary driver and Nascar just blew him off!!! I'm glad he took his $59÷ million and walked off into the sunset. Done. Finito!! Adios suckers! I sure do miss him, though.
Saul, get off it. There’s no such thing as fabricated yellows. Edwards wasn’t robbed
NASCAR didn’t rob Carl Edwards. There are no fabricated cautions. Edwards wrecked and that was that.

PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of a 100 person fight and a 4-year-old punched at the Peoria Speedway, Saturday night.
Around 10:30 pm, Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins says deputies were dispatched to a report of 100 people fighting. There were no fights when deputies arrived, but there were several reports of people fighting in the stands and on the track.
One report involved a 4-year-old punched in the face. Watkins says the suspect left, but witnesses obtained a photo of the suspect. Another report indicates a driver at the Speedway was also involved in a fight.
There were races scheduled that evening, but it is unclear if they were still going on during the fights. No arrests have been made.

3 things, he also needs to back off on his meds lol

Herm is the best guy in nascar!! He keeps it real and everything he says is 💯 true!! Don’t EVER change herm you are the man! Thanks for the content bud
Love the channel Kenny, please keep them going.
Just let NASCAR issue the teams their cars!.. Waht's the difference? Right? Jeez! Lets just change it to IROC....but wait. Can't do that because some of these drivers today are fresh out of diapers and are by no means a Champion... Go Brandon!!
The cars are wrapped in tape technically so I wounder if teams have been using them to shape the cars in other ways. Bring back real paint.
If they bring back real paint, then it will be hard to do this.
I know nothing about wraps but it seems that one could create some advantage by using darker colors over aerodynamically sensitive areas of the nose such that the thermal expansion of the wrap would expand and make the airflow more efficient.
When races are decided by thousands of a second looking for an advantage is always going to happen. With these new kit cars they made it clear. There are no more grey areas and any modifications to the parts will be dealt with severely and in this case they got lucky it was something they added and not modifying a part. Message sent they won't accept either one anymore.
If you ain't cheatin you ain't tryin
@@davidpolston4172 These days you keep cheating you ain't racin.
It’s a crazy thing tbh. This year a lot had been exposed and I love it. All star race , this new car not being safe , this new car built for road racing so we know what nascar is doing and the “rules” tires falling off clear tape. So on how the best driver doesn’t have a ride over money I love it. My dad is 78. He said nascar used to be real racing now it’s all about money and man is he right...
The sponsors and manufacturers who pay MILLIONS to make these cars and teams run are absolutely right to say "we want this" and have the sport listen to them. I don't see anything nefarious or shady in that at all. Last time I checked cheating was cheating, and it's not like they didn't know the consequences of doing it and getting caught. Zero sympathy.
We all know that a piece of tape on the nose of a racecar can add 10 to 15 lbs of aero weight and have a significant impact on the handling of the car. Everyone was told NASCAR would have zero tolerance in regards to unapproved modifications to these cars. This was an unapproved modification, plain and simple.
Been watching NASCAR for 25 years when they go electric I'm done
@@markwalmsley5892 as long as the racing is good then I'm fine. They can't keep using tech that's 60 years old...the manufacturers aren't going to support archaic tech as they try to sell modern cars.
@@dannykilpatrick2811 Nope. without the heat, the smells and sounds it would never be NASCAR
Classic of why NASCAR has lost so many fans like me. Why I am here is because I like the Wallace family of racers. I left NASCAR with the Bubba "Bul-sht Parade".
I think this was one of your best ! video ever !! Great Idea on post race !!! Thanks
Kenny, your assessment, illustration, & prediction was absolutely brilliant.
You are... *The Herminator*
It's only cheating when you get caught 🥴
So now does Elliott's car go through the same inspection as the 1st and 2nd place cars or do they just award the win without the inspection?
Elliott's car passed the exact same post race inspection.
top 5 are inspected every race
First and second have a more detailed inspection, so no his won’t, but it did get inspected just not as detailed as the first two cars. It’s unusual to have a double disqualification. Maybe the rule or procedure needs to be modified a little when there are teammates’ cars in first and second place and include the third place car in the detailed inspection too.
@@scott1243 no he didn't only the 1st, 2nd and a randomly selected car went through the tare down inspection! Chase's car was on its way back to NC after the regular post race inspection and nascar released it his car didn't get tore down.
Whats worse is the tape did not block the vent I am so done with the way NASCAR is going and you said it right Kenny
Yeah, it may have helped a tad but i mean to me, that should be a grey area like they used to have, i mean what does nascar think they should do, just by the car and just go race as is, I wish nascar would lighten up a little, i did give a tiny advantage but it was a pretty smart idea, other teams would have figured it out eventually, every team prob had something "illegal" just didn't finish in the top 3 or 5 to get the tear down
It wasn’t ment to block the vent. He cheated. That all there is to it. I like Kenny but he is wrong. If they took the time to do it then it must of made a difference. If it didn’t make a difference then why did they do it in the first place. Think about it.
Kenny, That is a perfect way to explain this. I love these videos and how you connect with us common folk that just love racing but don't ever get into the "nuts and bolts" of it. Thank you!
I don't have a dog in this fight but it's time to stop watching nascar when drivers are DQ'd over this nonsense! It's not like some massive engine manipulation to gain advantage.
Amen Herm! 100% agreed. NASCAR is just shooting themselves in the foot with this crap... We already have the absolutely ridiculous points system that basically makes all of the regular season useless, the manufacturered cautions/interruptions called stages in the middle of the races and now this crap is coming back.... They going to pull a Ricky Rudd at Sonoma kind of thing before long too?
I agree totally man. Used to be a great sport and they seem to mess it up every chance they get
Great explanation, Kenny.
SORRY KENNY......STOPPED WATCHING NASCAR 12 YEARS AGO! ITS JUST NOT WORTH WATCHING ANY MORE..BUT!! LOVE YOUR SHOW!!! BUT ILL WATCH THE NEXT ONE! LOL....
I appreciate your explanation of the issue and yes, it does seem very ticky tacky. If it was ANY other driver I could be sympathetic but Denny went on his cry baby rant after the all star race about rules being rules and NASCAR needing to start enforcing them more strictly. So I say there you go Denny, happy now??????
NASCAR had become a joke long before this issue. If they want a spec series then supply the cars and have spec series.
That was tried. Remember IROC? It died
@@skidoorulz4914 yeah but i was being sarcastic anyways
NASCARs Golden Age ended in a transition from 2004 to 2008. Two things greatly contributed to that. The Chase and the COT. The points system caused a riff with drivers and fans and media alike as to who was Mickey and who wasn't in winning the title. A debate we still all have today questioning the credibility of a champion since 2004. In 2007 to 2008 with the implementation of the God awful COT combined with the national recession it was too much for NASCAR to overcome. And 2008 was the year we all knew for certain the Golden Age of NASCAR was over. Ironically even INDY was like "ight imma head out now" and that race hasn't been the same since. Sorry for you new NASCAR fans but you missed the Golden Age. It's over. And yes it was unbelievable. Now you stuck with this.
What was not covered with Kenny's statements was >>>> the teams were told in PRE-RACE inspection
@@oooldman11 BS! NASCAR would have watched to make sure it was removed and it would have been checked again to make sure it was removed.
Not that it matters.... But Kenny Wallace is Right... Kenny Wallace represents all us “Nobody “ Race Car Fans....
I find it hard to believe that the wrap material in the hot sun and with the air pressure against the front of the car at speed that the wrap wasn’t
pressed against the body. Put it in the wind tunnel and prove me wrong .
Packing tape is extremely strong when used properly, plus the wrap on top would make great areo difference. Don’t under estimate the power of tape!
Basically, just don't mess with the damn car!!! Simple as that....then maybe we won't have this problem again! There is wayyyy too much $MONEY$ in the sponsorship to screw around with the winner at the end! Just leave the damn car alone as is for god's sake!!! I am a Chase Elliott fan......BUT, I don't want to see my driver win this way! Leave the damn cars alone......for the last time!!! =#
The “Post Race Inspection Show” is the greatest idea I’ve heard all week! NASCAR could totally sell it and get tons of sponsor money for it. I actually think a pharmaceutical company that markets products like Advil, Tylenol, or Aleve would be a great fit, because you know it’s gonna be a headache if it does not pass on live TV. For the sake of the sport, “Goody’s” would be a perfect fit, just don’t know if they would want to sponsor something like that all year long. Get a really good host for the segment too, they could get a cool name like “The Executioner” or something. How about you Kenny? “Herminator the Terminator” you’d be great at this, think of the show! Pass inspection, you put the winner sticker with a “Goody’s Seal of Approval Logo on it” don’t pass, the person who thought they won, you hand them pack of goody’s powder for the trip back to concord! Great video buddy, I loved it!
Back in the 80's Goody's sponsored the Headache of the Race award. Just like Hav-a-Tampa sponsored the "Close But NO Cigar" award.
😂😂😂😂
Herminator the terminator.. 🤣🤣🤣
Darrell Waltrip an admitted cheater said, (hinting) at Nascar own destruction. "we are getting to far away" from what Nascar was. And what was he alluding to? From actual RACING. TOO FAR FROM REAL. What does racing someone mean?
[intransitive, transitive] to compete against somebody/something to see who can go faster or the fastest, do something first, etc.; to take part in a race or races. They raced to a thrilling victory in the relay. She'll be racing for the senior team next year.
It was never real or fair once they made it too Nascar.... but now its not even believable or near real racing. ITs WWE with cars. ITs a show. Tune in Next week.
Everybody cheats! Most don't get caught because they either didn't win or they didn't get randomly selected that week. So Kenny, I’d like to hear your dramatic but transparent take on who you think cheated more than any other NASCAR team. I'll go first. The 48 team of Chad Knaus and Jimmie Johnson Oh my gosh, they we’re awesome cheaters. BTW, I’m a Chase Elliott fan and he’s won 4 races this season so that must mean he NEVER........... 😉🙄🤔🤫😂🤣what ?
Keep it going Kenny! We love you man! Best personality in NASCAR!
Dale Sr was never the most popular driver, he was hated by at least half the audience. He was a heel champion, a dirty driver, the Ric Flair or Harley Race of Nascar. In fact, it wasn't until the Boy Wonder, crybaby himself, Jeff Gordon, arrived on the scene that more people started liking Dale Earnhardt.....
CHEATING IS CHEATING! QUIT CRYING 😭

The tape… even while small, probably helps with drag in some way. Might shave a few points off in the one hundredths of a second. Not much but add them together and suddenly you’ve got some breakaways.
True. It only takes a fraction of a tenth a lap to make a pass now a days.
Remember the small pieces of tape they use to put on the grill of the old cars? It must do something

Kenny is showing a 1 mill piece of tape. The "tape" Hamlin and Busch used was 12 times as thick. They knew what they were doing, and it gave them an advantage. That's why the finished 1,2.

Did you just call me a “CHEATER” Kenny??? YOU BIG CHEATERRR!!!
A fan Kenny but think you would have trouble convincing a well brought up 6 year old that breaking the rules is either not cheating or just fine in a NASCAR context. I bet the kid would school you that it really is the same as cheating anywhere else in life.
If it was what Wallace says it was, then how come Gibbs didn't debate it or appeal it.
Kenny, you sir are a NASCAR treasure!
So Kenny what if they just put extra wrap in them area and when they pull it of it all comes off as one
Great job Kenny! Think you're taking over where Dale Sr. might have gone if he was still with us. Though I doubt he would have let NASCAR get this ridiculous. Tell it like it is. I'm going to start subscribing to your channel since this cast.

The last time third place ended up winning was Cal Naughton Jr in 2006 @ Talladega. Love ya Cal!!!!!!!
How did those TWO cars, with that tape 'modification', pass all of the pre-race inspections..... but failed post race?? Sounds like NA$CAR set them up... passed them before race, then dropped the hammer after for something the team could have fixed before the race.
The tape was under the wrap….they don’t remove it pre race.
I love the Earnhardt family and the Wallace family it’s nice being neutral now watching other people fight it out over there drivers
Give it to’em Herman!!! Preach brother!!!
Kenny, you've been in NASCAR long enough to know how much impact a little piece of tape can have on aerodynamics. Now, something planned and probably tested, they knew there was an advantage. Otherwise, why risk it. I don't disagree with what you were saying but you are conveniently forgetting the past (effect of something small like tape, factims of an inch for spoilers or restrictor plates) but you're rememberimg the part of tweaking of the grey areas. That the difference,.that area doesn't exit, you fall off the map when you go there.
Sorry, but cheating is cheating. It’s about time NASCAR enforces the rules. Do we teach our kids that cheating in school is acceptable?
Yes. Appalling.
Thanks Kenny. All the things to get a car ready all the things that can go bad in a race then to drive it to the finish line. Then someone who probably doesn't know how to drive in a race of professionals says tape kept the car down on the track 3 hours later absolutely crazy.
It is not the thickness of the tape that makes the difference. It is what it covers underneath the wrap. They were warned that they would take cheating seriously with the new car. They got caught and paid for it. If the tape did not make a difference they wouldn't have put it there. You are just ranting that is OK if you cheat and win the race.
A pretty unsavory person he is, apparently. And now we also know he cheats on his taxes, thinks nothing of it. "Everybody cheats" classic low-brow rationalization.
What a terrific American. /s
a violation of the rules. i dont hate 11, but I'd like to see him finish near the back. with that said, na$car has always been GM motivated.
Even I like GM, but they are probably treated better as is Toyota. But that tape as small as it is can make a big difference possibly.
@@ethanweeter2732 there is no possibly about it. It Does make a big difference. Remember the older cars and they would put tape on them to handle better or take a piece of tape off to improve handling. NASCAR has come down with a Zero tolerance policy but they don't use it on Everyone at Every race. I think they are enforcing these things as they go along. Now How did Denny GAIN points in the race when they said he finished last? Doesn't make any sense to me
Before it's over Nascar will end up being like the IROC races. How fun will that be?
Careful what you wish for...the return of Danica !!!
I so wish they would bring back the NASCAR of old! I was at the race in Charlotte when Richard Petty passed Darrell Waltrip like he was standing still on the closing laps. I was sitting in chicken bone alley in the Chrysler stand.

It's a sad existence to think that everyone's a cheater. Just isn't true. But if it makes you feel better about yourself.
Ugly cynicism. We sure can't trust this dude.
The Zero. Zero Zero one two is hilarious. To think you would get DQ'd for that. I'm sure that's what someone at Gibbs fab shop thought. Maybe they will get the message now that NASCAR isn't playing around this year.

Hi Kenny. What I feel is really ironic is how TF they can find a piece of tape that is 12 thousandths thick under a heavy wrap? Unless the contour was that obvious, you would think the lasers would find that immediately in pre race tech 🤷♂️
Do you have intimate knowledge of the pre race inspection process and the technology used in it?
so you condone cheating ?
The lasers check tolerances and the tolerances are very tight, but they likely won’t detect a 0.012” thickness of the tolerance was not violated. But they did not put tape on there for 💩 and giggles. Kenny himself would say they did it to gain an advantage even if a slight advantage.
@@ethanweeter2732 this is where I would like NASCAR to explain how much of a gain in on track performance an infraction could actually be. Because if you could say X I fraction could have meant x% more downforce than any car running legally should be able to make then it's hard to get mad when that team gets penalized. The advantage is spelled out. And if they have an infraction that doesn't equal a gain in performance then penalize them for something not being legal but the punishment needs to fit the crime.

Great job Kenny! I agree 100%.
Ive been involved in STOCKCAR racing since birth. We need a new SANCTIONING BODY like ASA to step up and end this NASCAR monopoly.. I have been a NASCAR fan thru and thru. To be honest when they stopped using actual factory made vehicles is the day they put the noose on the neck of NASCAR. I remember my dad in 1981 going to buy a brand new trans-am from Macnamara Pontiac, bringing it home to our JUNKYARD in Bithlo and gutting it to build a Late Model. Manufacturer's quit building full frame rear wheel drive cars when NASCAR went to fabricated chassis. Thats also around the time imports started out selling American cars.
Win on Sunday sell on Monday was the pride of every NASCAR fan. The fact you could go to a dealership and buy the exact car that your favorite driver's racecar was built from was awesome. Im absolutely sure, if the manufacturers would be more than willing to produce vehicles that put the stock back in STOCKCAR. With the safer barriers and other safety advances. Its tome to get back to our roots. I'd love to be able to drive a car that a cup car was built from. Im so sick of NASCAR. This weekend put the worst taste in my mouth. I am probably going to stop watching NASCAR altogether. I am already mad about how they made this big deal about NASCAR GRASSROOTS campaign. Here in Florida we had FASCAR Florida Association of STOCKCAR Automobile Racing. Built from the ground up by one of The best men I ever met. CLYDE HART. The creative mind that gave us New SMYRNA Speedway and THE WORLD SERIES OF STOCKCAR AUTOMOBILE RACING every Speedweeks. By the time he passed away he owned most of tha short tracks in Florida. Car count was through the roof. In 2002 at Orlando SPEEDWORLD we had 36 or more cars in every class. We had machine shops and engine builders everywhere, we had(i stress had) a booming racing economy.
Then NASCAR Grassroots happened. Now our classes at NEW SMYRNA are lucky to have 10 cars. Usually less. Almost every track has closed down. Good luck finding a machine shop that doesn't want a kidney to have work done. The old man and his son that did all my work died penniless because NASCAR changing almost every class to GM race crate engines. All the guys I raced with assembled own engines. The machine shops and speed shops that sponsored the payouts for each class gave discounts to racers with a FASCAR license . It made racing affordable, and you actually made money racing. I know NASCAR made it unaffordable for me and my family to race. I can't find a sponsor to save my life. And don't get me started on switching to Hoosiers. I could run a month on 6 GOODYEAR tires in my sper late model and only have a tenth of a second of fall of at the end of the month. Including practice every Wednesday. And I never finished below 9th .
I am finally going to get to race again though. I saw an old enclosed trailer in a JUNKYARD and asked about it. They told me they would give me the trailer, but I had to pay $6000 for what was inside. When the man opened the door, the first thing I saw was a brand new race engine with BOWTIE heads and Victor jr BOWTIE intake. Under it a Borg warner super T10. As I shined my flashlight towards the back of the 24ft trailer I see a brand new LEFTHANDER MODIFIED complete roller . Body still has the plastic wrap on it. The windows still have the brown protective layer you peel off. And clecos stick8ng out everywhere. And a Richmond transmission mounted in it. Brand new everything. Ive never owned a brand new racecar. I bought people's wrecked cars and fixed them. The little tag on the laft frame rail is stamped LEFTHANDER CHASSIS #1422 . I contacted LEFTHANDER and I find out its a 2000 model. They did all the work on it but the guy gave up and picked it up and that was it. . Im waiting on the paperwork from LEFTHANDER. The name of the engine builder is included aling with a dynamometer sheet . Back in 2000 the man had already pu $60,000 into tis car. Ihave spares in triplicate for everything except the engine. I was informed that the engine wa $35,000 alone. And the car was originally from OHIO. I had my Mike Cope SPORTMAN and trailer stolen last year before I got a chance to race it. So the RACING GODS blessed me. .. I haven't raced since my dad caught cancer and I sold my super and LIMITED late models to help with the bills. That when NASCAR GRASSROOTS HAPPENED. .. I wish ASA would come back. Someone not NASCAR. They have ruined motor sports
They've been fine tuning bodies in wind tunnels for 40 years looking for an advantage. Only now Nascar designs the bodies and forbids any modifications at all instead of letting other teams fine tune their own body. The good old days resulted in Jr Johnson and his "Banana" Ford. Without the wind tunnel. Nascar didn't like Smokey modifying his 66 Chevelle body either even though it technically didn't break any rules. I'm not a fan of the new cars. Nascar wants IROC, everything exactly the same to showcase the driver abilities. They haven't figured out yet the best drivers are going to run up front no matter what.
I think if NASCAR is going to call themselves "stock car" racing, then they should use 'STOCK' cars.
"Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday" !
Sheet metal & motor (at least) comes from Detroit.
Smokey Yunick played with the rules more so than anyone else . AND, got caught, most of the time !
One example; Rule: Fuel cell limited to X gallons ... Smokey: "Don't say anything about FUEL LINES"
Spot on Herm like ALWAYS!!!! Great ideas hopefully they implement them.
NASCAR needs drama to draw fans. They need a good fist fight, not a tape incident!!!!!
Need Richard Childress to take his watch off and whip Kyle Busch’s ass AGAIN!!!!
U 2 Funny, but keeping it real, well done!
Manipulating the outcome of races and championships

NASCAR uses caution flags, triggered by race administrators, in which drivers are limited to certain maneuvers. The general purpose of this event is to reduce risk when track conditions deteriorate (for instance, if there is debris on the track, one or more cars crash and emergency vehicles and tow trucks need to be on track, or a car spins and is given the opportunity to catch up with the field). Generally, when a caution occurs, race cars must tightly pack before a restart.
The number of cautions per race in the NASCAR Cup Series increased from 7.4 in 2001 to 9.6 in 2007 (an increase of almost 30%), while the number of actual crashes per race has only increased from 5.6 to 6.7 (an increase of about 20%).[60] This is likely due to increased caution periods for cleaning debris from the track. In 2015, the number of cautions per race averaged at 8.2, showing a gradual decline since then.[61] Fans and competitors alike speculate whether some of these cautions are used to keep the cars tightly packed in an effort to keep a race close.[62][63] An unnecessary caution at a specific time could affect a driver's strategy and the outcome of the race, while providing a potential opportunity for other drivers to close the gap and prevent a runaway victory.[64]
In April 2007, then two-time champion Tony Stewart, on his radio show hosted via Sirius Satellite Radio, said: "It's like playing God. They can almost dictate the race instead of the drivers doing it… I don't know that they've run a fair race all year." Stewart also made a comparison to the WWE, which is scripted. NASCAR itself was not flattered by these comments, and stated that Stewart's comments were "very, very disappointing" but did not punish Tony Stewart, as there were no rules against criticizing the officiating of a race.[65]
In an unrelated interview, driver Matt Kenseth said, "There's for sure entertainment cautions, there's no doubt about that, but we're in the entertainment business and you're going to get some of that and group the field every once in a while." Driver and commentator, Kyle Petty, said, "We're in the entertainment business, if they want to throw a caution every 40 laps to keep everybody bunched up, so the fans have a better experience, more cautions, the better."[66]
In September 2013, NASCAR came under fire after the 2013 Federated Auto Parts 400 when it was suggested that the race was manipulated by Clint Bowyer (having already clinched a playoff berth), who was accused of intentionally spinning out in order to slow down the race which had seven laps to go. By this time, Ryan Newman was in the lead, and holding on to victory would have likely secured a playoff spot. However, a slow pit stop caused Newman to lose momentum, and Carl Edwards went on to win instead. This allowed for Bowyer's teammate Martin Truex Jr. to clinch a spot over Newman.[67] Later that week, NASCAR made its decision to penalize Truex Jr. for the incident, which meant that Newman would take his place. In an odd decision, NASCAR also decided to expand the playoff field to 13 instead of the established 12, giving Jeff Gordon (one of NASCAR's most popular drivers) a spot, with NASCAR stating that Gordon has also been unfairly aggrieved by Bowyer and Truex Jr.'s actions.[68] Simultaneously, Joey Logano was accused of receiving illicit help from Front Row Motorsports in order to secure a playoff spot, and both Penske Racing and Front Row Motorsports were placed on probation for the rest of the year as a result, but Logano was allowed to participate in the playoffs that year.[69] NASCAR would be rocked by another race manipulation scandal six years later, involving backmarker teams during that year's season finale, the 2019 Ford EcoBoost 400, involving bonuses for the best team without a Race Team Alliance charter (a system introduced in 2016) in that year's owner point standings.
In the 2021 at O'Reilly Auto Parts 253, a caution flag flown for rain was accused of being an "entertainment" caution due to it being not being considered too wet to continue racing. The caution was also said to have altered the finish of the race preventing Chase Elliott (who criticized the caution over the radio) from walking away easily with a win.[70] i believe this is wikipedia.######
Just like the IWK 250, Cassius Clarke took the win but got DQ’d. Kenny Wallace was awarded the win but got cheated out of victory lane and celebrations
Hey 😊 Herman I a 100 percent of what you said. I have watched NASCAR racing since 1972 .I was 12 years old.Thats 50 years I have been keeping up with dirt racing and drag racing more since NASCAR started changing the rules for the most stupid things.
Pretty much nailed it. Good job, Herm!
Darrell Waltrip an admitted cheater said, (hinting) at Nascar own destruction. "we are getting too far away" from what Nascar was.
Love it Kenny! You are on it, This was a embarrassment for Hamlin, Busch, Gibbs and Nascar. And they DO need to figure it out.
Sorry shorty (Kenny),,, NASCAR is going the way of the dinosaurs. It’s getting worse and worse as the years go by. With all these different generation cars. New rules like stages. And this playoff crap. I liked it as many others did or do, when you ran a complete season and whoever was in the lead in the standings at the end of the year won the championship! And with all the variations and technical rules🤯😩🤯 it just blows my mind that anyone would be interested in this type of racing anymore. And many aren’t! I mean all you have to do is look into the stands at a NASCAR event. There’s no one there. Lots of lots of seats to be had! What no one‘s going. Unless you go to the infield at a big event. And 75% of those folks are just there for the party. They don’t give a shit about the race only to say they were there. I (as many others) would much rather go to a World of outlaws sprint car race. A super late Modles race. Or, northeast big block modified race!
Just thinking about that disqualification for a 5 inch long 2 inch wide piece of tape just makes me cringe! Complete and utter nonsense! You really wanna make NASCAR sell again? Go back to true American production car styles. One particular engine to be used. Build a safety cage inside of it. And let the boys have at it. I’m not talking about these newfangled shells that aren’t even the right body style for a car. I’m talking about true American muscle with the funders, factory of course. Factory hoods factory bumpers and facia‘s. And reduce the speed.
Well you’ve got some racing and NASCAR can actually claim it to be grassroots once more. Just my little rant.
