Hi, we have the same climber as you guys but couldn't figure out how to lock the motors to keep the robot up. We were thinking about locking the wheels using gears, but how did u guys have enough grip on the pipes to keep it up there? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you! - Kamran from 37458A
How did you get your ratio for the climbing mech? i see that its connected to the drive train but what gears does it move through to power it? trying to make something like that of my own but having problems getting the right ratio and it looks like you have a super slow ratio for such a small space on your robot.
Seems to me like they have a piece of metal that holds the claw, which is rubber banded to the left, in position out of the way and at 1:31 you can see a piston retract which moves that piece of metal up which allows the rubber band to pull the claw into the pole. Then they fire another piston which hooks into the claw and holds it in its new position thus allowing them to climb. (Apologies if the explanation is confusing I'm struggling with the words to explain what I believe I am seeing).

Absolutely insane. I made a climb similar a few months back, I always considered doing a smaller opposing wheel. This seems to work incredibly well.

Make a Force diagram then using your wheel radius you can find the torque needed

do you remove the climb mechanism for comp? Because with it you are over the 88W limit.
The climb mechanism shares 3 motors with the drivetrain.
how do you have that set up? Is it just constantly spinning whenever you move?
