Wow 30 seconds in Rick has been caught in a lie. He in fact did not keep the same magnesium bottle for ester for a year. He was planning to appease her from inventory the whole time💀🐕🦺🤯
i agree 100 percent. rick getting real and being a good friend and really hearing esther out was an awesome convo to watch. he had some really great insights i thought.
When I am in my apartment and I am hot, I turn up the AC because I want the effects of the AC to be more powerful. I press the down button, because I want to decrease the temperature. "AC" refers to the utility itself, not the temperature.
As silly as these pocasts are, the part where Esther talks about telling others to fail openly, but to have the fear to do it yourself hit home. I seem to find some nuggets of self betterment in the midst of the silliness. It's why I've binged these for the past week and a half.
YESSSSSSS!! This was so nice to watch. Rick honoring his voice, and comedy, and pumping up Esther was delightful to view. Alvin and the story of uniting with such quadrupedal love was also stellar.
Esther!!! I hope you read this! This storm too shall pass! Your a new momma lots of emotions give yourself grace! You’ll find your rhythm. The first few months of being a new mom can be exhausting but so worth it. You’ll be ok momma 🖤
I was fully on Rick’s side but come to think about it my boyfriend and I are always having to clarify when one of us says like “can you turn the ac down?” I’m like do you mean down colder or down like it’s too cold in here?? Totally situational with us but logically I agree with Rick 🤷🏼♀️
@andrewwetzel4534 There is some nuance to it but the only thing you can adjust on AC is the temperature so up being warmer and down being colder is the only thing that makes sense regardless of what the current temperature is set to.
Esther, I saw you perform at Hollywood Improv a few weeks ago, and you were unique, charming and funny. You came across as clever and authentic. My friend and I really liked your style of comedy and that set!💫
For those of us with cheap window AC units that don’t have a temperature gauge, only a dial (say from 1-10), turning the AC dial up is how you turn the temperature down. I’m with Esther but love you both. I think the safest way to communicate the request is to ask to turn the temperature up/down.
Just logged in for work and I never clicked so fast. Esther and Ricks chemistry is like capturing lightning in a bottle. Unmatched! Thanks again for the pod this week
One of my best friends and I have the same "argue for 30 minutes over what one should say to get the room to be cooler" conversations daily and its so exhausting 😂
Lol xD But everyone knows you turn up the ac. Because you physically interact with the air conditioner. Turning down the temperature is done through the ac. You don't actually physically interact with temperature.
I appreciate so much who you both are and even moreso, who you are when you are TOGETHER! You have really grown on me Rick! At first I thought you were SO unnecessarily mean to Esther and it confused me! But watching you guys together is really magical. You are both here for each other and it shows!!
Okay put it this way rick, no one says crank the AC to get to get a warmer room. You turn down the thermostat sure, but that in turn cranks up the power delivery to the ac. Esther's totally right you turn the AC up. You crank the ac. Not the temperature the power delivered to the air conditioner unit. Over time.
I'm a (amatuer) musician (with a day job AND a huge gig coming up playing to more people than i ever have in my life) and I'm relating so hard to the conversation Esther and Rick are having in this episode. Y'all were saying some things that I think i really needed to hear at this point in my life. Thank you for the paranormal pep talk Rick and Esther!
I'm with Esther on the AC argument. Yes you raise/lower the target temperature on the thermostat, but when you verbalize it, you just want more or less of it. If someone says "Turn UP the AC", you go to the thermostat and hit the DOWN arrow so the AC kicks on to reach that lower temperature. If someone says "turn DOWN the AC", you hit the UP arrow on the thermostat to make the AC turn off because it's cold enough now.
Had this same conversation about a neighboring town-I say going down to ______ because it’s south, the other person said it’s going up because it’s higher in elevation. So frustrating, but shows how people communicate differently and why we as humans so often misunderstand each other. Saying the same thing in opposing ways 😵💫
I'm dying to know when Ester takes her magnesium. Like Rick, I take mine at night with dinner. And like Ester,I don't sweat much during exercise .Inorder for me to sweat I have to wear a sweatshirt. Even at my maximum heart rate will not look like I'm drenched in sweat if I'm wearing light clothing. I take three showers a week and I haven't been sick for 10 years. I'm all about this episode
This is the first podcast I’ve seen Rick & Esther together in where Rick’s not doing a bit the ENTIRE time and I am so here for the real talk between them!
Hey Rick, thanks for a great episode! It’s my first week moving back to a foreign country after college to pursuit my dream, it’s scary but what you said made a lot of sense, plus your podcast gives me a sense of familiarity in a time of change, thanks!
Loved this episode I was really missing watching u two dingdong silly goose’s act like little schmeegle schmucks on yalls old pod. Twas niceee please mas mas mas por favor 🙏 ❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊
Lately I’ve been loving how much rick has been milking this blanket bit. I first noticed it in the Sal Vulcano episode I think, where I had assumed it originated. But i just started wondering. What if it’s been going over my head for two years? I’m too scared to watch an old pod now
dynamic duo ☺️ and the ads man? The ads are gold. Your parents are the sweetest and it’s really awesome how you include them in your stuff. 2:24 5:40 so fucking funny!! The way the ad disappeared was hilarious
Ricky, you were all wrong about the A.C. dialect. Sorry, but Esther won on that argument. And she didn't even touch on a couple additional ways in which your understanding was flawed. For example, beyond the thermostat control(which you were correct that it doesn't change the temperature of the air output, directly at least*), which only changes how long it runs for, if not most, then many A.C. units have another adjustable setting for Low/Medium/High "Cool" which DOES change the temperature of the "conditioned" air by increasing or decreasing the pressure at which the compressor forces air through the Coolant apparatus thereby the additional volume of air with coolant media contact that is released into the mix of ambient air and conditioned, changes the ratio of the mixed air from the blower to contain less of the ambient environmental(i.e. warmer) air, whereby there is less heat energy transference from the warmer ambient air to the lower conditioned air per volume at the point the two mix, generating an air output(exhaust) temperature of lower or higher temperature, correlative to the compressor's setting. And not to pile on, but changing the fan blower setting alone *does* actually alter the temperature as the higher the speed of the fan motor, the more the intake air is compressed/accelerated as it's blown into the lower ambient pressure of the static environmental space, making a more rapid change to equilibrium which results in a cooler temperature in the surrounding air once the moving air from the fan(any fan) has dissipated its kinetic energy of motion, in-turn drawing the transfer of ambient heat energy from contact with the environment. That's the short version, but essentially I have outlined the correct physics in a rough, made-for-UA-cam-comments sort of way. Understand that it could use a lot of polishing up, but... So, yea. A.C.'s operate in 3 basic stages. Each stage lowers temperature of air passing through the system. And each stage's effect on temperature change *can* be variable if made adjustable. And that's enough on that. I do have a life outside of making long, overly complex explanations for UA-cam comments. I really do!!
This episode is so informative of how to keep progressing even when you felt you already captured a voice, point of view, style, persona, character, cadence, tone. What do you do when you’ve lost passion, fire, energy, curiosity. You take some faith and you jump anyway because it’s the only way you find the next step, next chapter.
Omg I had the same convo with my bf about turning the air down. I was rick and my bf was the Esther. Watching Esther realize her point would never making sense and then calling the whole system arbitrary had my dying 😂😂😂

I went back and rewatched the Tony Hinchcliffe episode a few weeks ago and I had a different opinion of it the second time around compared to the first time I watched it. The first time I hated it, I thought Tony was such a bully. I look at it now, especially now that I know more about him and more about comedy and I totally get it and I absolutely see what you’re saying, Rick. He was just disagreeing with you in the Tony way and you, him. I love that you both know exactly who you are and what your opinions are and aren’t afraid to say them to each other.

i agree 100 percent. rick getting real and being a good friend and really hearing esther out was an awesome convo to watch. he had some really great insights i thought.
I don’t think I’ve ever commented on UA-cam but this needed to be said: the A/C argument was the best thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life.
Lol 👍
I hate as a listener i can't interject! 😂
I LOVE how long you guys went without arguing 🙃 glad i gave this one a chance
Esther having a baby and Rick getting a dog has completely healed their on screen energy

You'll bounce back Esther, also what you might be feeling is postpartum depression which is very common

Esther's brain is broken. The AC talk was killing me, too funny!
I have always felt the same way as her. The effectiveness of the air conditioner is higher when you make it colder lol
I can understand her point. When you want to get the temp down, you crank the AC up!
Rick is wrong. When you turn up the AC it is more powerful. Think about in a car, when you turn the AC up it is more flow.
@andrewwetzel4534 There is some nuance to it but the only thing you can adjust on AC is the temperature so up being warmer and down being colder is the only thing that makes sense regardless of what the current temperature is set to.
What a great episode. These two always have great chemistry but I enjoyed this one for different reasons than usual.
An AC argument like that has ended many marriages.
Both perspectives make total sense. To eliminate confusion my SO and I just say "will you make it warmer/colder"

In my opinion there’s no way to be too obsessed with your dog or love your dog too much. My dogs are my purest realest source of happiness and hope
Obviously you've never heard of furries.
Rick and Esther have a dog 🐶 😂
Underrated comment
Rick needs Natasha Lyonne on this show.
This industry talk and behind the scenes stuff is super interesting. Funny podcasts are great, but informational/introspective ones are great too.

Wow, props to JonMichael, it must've been a lot of work cutting around all of the gulps now that Esther drinks water.
Esther Povitsky is so much fun. Thank you so much for having her on again, Rick!

10:37 the look when Esther finds out for the first time Rick has OCD had me laughing like a crazy guy 😂

Esther is 100% right about the AC issue. Turn AC UP= more AC = cooler… and Turn AC down = less AC = warmer
@rickglassman turning the AC up does NOT make a room warmer buddy
I'm with Esther on the AC debate. I would go up and will happily take the gameshow to court if I lost the million on that one.
I'm going to assume all the hate comments about this duos impeccable dynamic and the AC argument, are made by gentiles.
Rick was wrong in his AC logic. love to see that. Esther was so right. unless you say turn the temp down, it doesn't work hahaha
