A knitting episode (18): a tee, a bag & 3 new WIP's

- Hello friends,
Welcome to this little space! Alas, I fear that I’m asking a lot of you by sitting outside in this episode because there is an aggressive breeze from time to time. However, I can dispense with the indoor lighting when I’m outside, so you can see both me and the yarn in our true colours 😊 And I do like the temperature outside more these days, rather than my heated-up house, so it was a bit of a trade-off. It ebbs and flows (if you can say that about wind), and in most of the video it shouldn’t be too bad. Thanks for your understanding. Please find all the relevant information below. If there’s something I’ve omitted, don’t hesitate to ask me in the comments. Thanks so much for being here! (PS. I recently went to a wonderful workshop, but that was after recording the video, and I felt it would be too much in one video. So stay tuned!)

Sit outside while you can. Summer is too short to do otherwise. It really doesn't bother me that the wind interferes a bit.
I just love that pale pink on you. So lovely!
Thank you so much 🙏🏻😌❤️
You are so dear and wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing your joy with us! ❤
I always enjoy your video because you have such a calming voice and demenier. I love watching you.
Don't forget, you do you and don't worry about others.
I resonated very much with your last comments about negative feedback and decided to post a second comment. Sometimes I feel the universe provides a word or thought whose origin should be discovered. Recently I’ve been exploring the word Ego. It’s surprising how often I’ve found I want to comment on a video with my ‘correction’, my superior thought, or my righteous opinion. When I questioned my motive to respond to something, I found my ego is always the culprit. My ego wants to let you know how smart I am, how loved I am and how right I am. When I stopped letting my ego rule, I found I can respond with acceptance. Now I can do me and you can do you. ❤
This is such a well-reflected and wise comment. Thanks for sharing 💕
I love watching you and listening to you. Thank you so much! Take good care😊
Always a pleasure to join you sharing your knitting. I continue to be astounded that some people feel the need to be outspoken and rude. Thanks for another great visit.
I love what you are wearing! Looks great on you. Your garden is inviting
Your podcasts are always my favorite out of the many podcasts I watch. The joy you bring to the art of knitting is contagious and your choices of patterns and yarn are lovely. Your voice is soothing and I often copy the quotes you share. They remind me of ideas in my often-read book ‘The Fifth Agreement’ by don Miguel Ruiz. Thank you for a brilliant podcast.
Thank you Elle. Yes, the wind interferes. But who cares when you are with your knitting friend! Thank you!!!!
Love your videos and your beautiful setting (yes, let's celebrate late summer!). I love your mind set toward knitting decisions and others' opinions. ;) Thanks for keeping me company while I sew a sleeve on to a traditional Norwegian genser!
Thank you for another delightful video!
Thank you for your sharing. Lovely knits.
"Little editor in your brain" Amen sister!
Helle,
I found the wind carrying your voice away interesting, I enjoyed the windy video!, made it feel like I could be sitting with you!
I love your take on this, thank you 💞✨
I love all your knitting and video's, I wait all month long for them and they are all perfect!!! The variety is there as well so please keep being you♥from Alberta, Canada.
Your comment just made my day - thanks ever so much. Love to you in Canada ❤️🤍
I love your podcast and your videos, I like your vision of the world and hearing about your projects
This bag with knitted top and shirt
Wow so so good
👋 Hi again Helle. The blush pink silk tee is so scrumptious. The colour is truly beautiful. Suites your colouring. 😮
Enjoy the rest of your summer.
Love when you’re outside it’s so calming. But I also love the inside too. Stay outside as long as you can enjoy that beautiful weather.
Just love your episodes. Your knits are just beautiful…. Love hearing about each at length. You look lovely in this setting too with that lovely top. The background sounds were just fine. I too believe to be out as much as possible for the too soon arrival of next season and the indoor ambiance. I just finished the Venezia shawl as well the salty air tee. I am going to purchase the yarn for the agave… reading the recently purchased pattern, ( I always take time to just read through my patterns prior to purchase of yarn). I don’t accumulate a “stash” so that is next up. That bag is just a fabulous piece and so useful. Thank you for today.
Thank you for your quote. It comes in a time of my live I need to protect myself. ♥️ Enjoyed your soft gentle talk about your beautiful knits xxx
My Sister has told me the same. “You do you! 😊 Great minds, huh. Enjoyed the Olympics ❤
Enjoy being outside while you can. I always enjoy seeing your lovely projects. 🇨🇦
You mentioned Mark Manson, and I kept thinking the name sounded familiar. Then I remember that I read one of his books - I won’t type the title - lol! I really enjoyed his message. I’ll have to check out his newsletter.
As always I leave your podcast feeling refreshed and inspired. I love all of your content from the quote to your incredible knits to your garden and the wind. Don't change a thing, just heed your daughter and keeping being you. With love from Canada!
I think I’ll just box up your comment and take it out to look at from time to time ❤️ Thank you for allowing me to feel refreshed and uplifted in return 🥰
I always love the calming tenor of your videos and I love seeing what you’re knitting. I almost jumped out of my chair when I saw you were knitting the Lunae for I was knitting the last few rows of my own Lunae as I watched your video. Started mine years ago and put it on hold until picking it back up this summer. Mine is in similar colors to the designers, and I am using Rauma Finulgarn, so a more rustic yarn. It has felt a bit long, but became more fun once I reached the mosaic border. I can’t wait to see your finished one! ❤
I recently found your videos and have to say that I love everything you knit! You make me want to try things I ordinarily probably wouldn't.
That sounds wonderful 💪❤️🥰
I enjoy your outside videos! It’s good to embrace the seasons as they present themselves. I don’t mind the wind except for when it drowns out what you are saying.😢I missed a bit about your quote. Great projects.🌺
Most excellent knits again! I have been doing a few baby blankets for my bosses grand baby that is due soon and almost finished, you have given me some great inspiration to consider what I want to knit next, for me 😊.
Hi Helle, Thank you for another lovely podcast. Your top looks so pretty and that bag is great.
I had to watch this in two parts, life is always interrupting me. Ha ha. Can’t believe you’re heading into cooler weather already, enjoy the last remnants of your garden it’s beautiful, Karen 🥰😘 oh I love Mark Manson 🤭
Thanks so much, Karen, yes our summer is much briefer than yours, which would be OK if our winter wasn’t so long 😌🥰 Much love to you 😘❤️
Hello from France and thank you for this lovely video Helle! It always brings me joy and peace to watch your video, they are so much more than "just" knitting content and I deeply appreciate that. Your quote often resonates and has me reflecting on it for the day. Thanks to you, I have discovered the gorgeous Lunae shawl and got really curious about the Seoul blouse, such beautiful designs ! Looking forward to watching your next video
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Bisous 💖
Helle, your work and choices are so wonderful to see. I so agree that folks need an editor or what I call “use your filter”. I always look forward to your videos. ❤
You could use Navajo or chain ply to knit with 3 strands out of just one yarn ball! It sounds like magic, but it’s very easy.
I loved it outside with you, hope to have a garden of our own soon 😊
I will favorite the bag you made. I’ve not yet been able to crochet- somehow it seems harder than knitting to me. Thanks! 😊
Lovely to see you again Helle! I am always so inspired by what you knit and because of your channel I have begun to expand my own knitting techniques and trying patterns I would have shied away from before. You keep being you, because we love you and your choices💕🥰
Aw thanks so much, I really appreciate your comment 💞🥰
Love that Sarang bag! 💕 You remind me that I have a Lunae on the needles somewhere that I need to get out and complete! It would be a good winter project perhaps..! :)
Enjoy! 😊
Stunning the silk top
always enjoy your videos, I admire your pattern, yarn and colour choices!you really know what suits you! I also like learning about new patterns and designers …btw, the sound was fine and your outdoor setting was appreciated 😀👍🇨🇦
Thanks so much 🥰❤️
Helle: thank you so much for your podcast. I enjoy your way of being, starting with a quote and gently going through you finished objects and your wips and especially way you chose the pattern and or yarn. I truly needed your calm non anxious presence today. Thank you for sitting outside today, I was also sitting outside and I enjoyed your company.
How refreshing the meaning of "you do you". Thank you so much Helle and let us keep on going with lovely people. You do a great job. Love and greetings from Switzerland
Thank you so much. Love to you in beautiful Switzerland ❤️🤍
Allô Helle, quel bonheur de voir ton podcast dans mes abonnements 🤗! J’ai adoré, tes choix de laine couleur et projet me parle beaucoup. Tu es très inspirante ❤
Merci beaucoup 🙏🏻❤️
I just found your channel and I’m so happy that I did. Thank you for a lovely time. I’m going to enjoy taking my time and watch your past videos while awaiting your next! You have a new follower in Biarritz!
Aw what a heartwarming comment - thank you 🙏🏻❤️
Helle, I love your knits! You have such a great sense of style and understanding of what looks flattering on your body. Your black pants are cute too. Sorry for the naysayers. Bad manners! I look forward to seeing you next time. Enjoy the rest of your summer weather. 💕🧶Heidi
Thanks so much, Heidi 😘❤️
I love the neckline on your sweater
Thank you for the lovely podcast. You are incredibly inspiring, and your delivery is very calming. I enjoy listening to your knitting podcast. I also appreciate both indoor and outdoor environments, for me, they are both wonderful. Thank you.🙏🧶
🙏🏻😘❤️
I love your color choices. So pretty. And the garden area is beautiful. I'd be outside too - any chance I get.
Lovely garden/ wonderful inspiration- knitting and perspective on our craft and life!
I just finished Yara which has the same construction as Lunae (Lunae is next on my shawl knitting list). To pick up and knit the main border, I used a lot of stitch markers. With the markers that lower all the potential mistakes and allow to have a seamless flow repeat by repeat, it becomes a very enjoyable and meditative knit. At the end I even slowed down to make it last longer 😺
I love your choice of colors since we are the same season. I wish I had your beautiful hair though. I tried to knit 3 times but I always get frustrated. I had to laugh when you said how many sweaters can one wear. It's the same with quilting. I only quilt in the winter since having a quilt on your lap in the summer isn't fun!
Your ample tee is lovely, it suites you so well!
As always I enjoyed watching your podcast and the sound didn‘t bother me, I love to see your garden!
I‘m a bit stressed out and seeing you reminds me, that I wanted to practise yoga again! 😌
But first I‘m looking forward to my vacation in just two weeks, I will spend a week on Fyn with five knitting friends! Knittting, chatting, long walks at the beach and discovering Odense and the rest of the island and of course visiting yarn stores, I can hardly wait!
Farvel Astrid
Oh sounds lovely (except the stress ofc), hope you’ll enjoy it 💞✨
Thank you Helle for the lovely episodes (knitting and hiking) Greetings Anita
I ❤❤your fashion style and colors you choose in your knitting. Very classy!
More beautiful knits in a beautiful garden. Thank you!
I've just recently found out your channel, I really appreciate your style. I love your quoting at the start of each episode. Thanks 🙂
Thanks so much for being here 💕
Thank you for another inspiring episode, I knit an ample tee inspired by you! And as beeing swiss, I loved your way of looking at switzerland. I hope you enjoyed Zurich, as I love my hometown ❤😊 Annina
Thanks so much, I absolutely loved Switzerland, including beautiful Zürich ❤️🤍
That lace top is Devine ❤️
As always, lovely projects and your backyard is so lush, green and blooming! The pears look like they will be delicious. Sadly, some people are void of the edit function in their brain - I maybe am even guilty of that from time to time. I’ll try to keep your video in mind and think more before speaking. Looking forward to seeing the completed Seoul and the shawl is a great candidate for some precious yarn I have been wanting to knit up.
First - I love your garden, your setup and I don't mind windy sounds at all. There is just something so calming in this and nice to watch :) Second - I'm in love with your Ample tee and there is a big chance that I will cast it on, even that I promised myself that no more summer knits :D But this one is fantastic.
Thanks for your beautiful comment, it is so appreciated 🌸🤍
Sitting outside looking amazing. All your knitting projects are absolutely beautiful 🩶🩵. Also I love your pink 🩷 bag 👛
Thank you for a lovely podcast. Your garden is beautiful. I wanted to share that I just finished my Lunae Shawl and its on my blocking matt. I used ISAGER Alpaca 2 in the colours grey E2S, White EO and Blue 54. It was the first time for me experiencing Mosaic knitting. I really enjoyed knitting it. After blocking I want to ad an icord edge or a crochet edge on the top edge of the shawl. I think it will be nice.
Have fun , all the best. Orna 💙
Sounds lovely! 💙🤍🩶
Thank you for the shoutout! I love your podcasts :)
I always look forward to your videos. You have impeccable taste and style. I love the patterns you knit. So pretty. ❤
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, makes, choices, etc with us. I enjoyed your quotes and musings too.
The discussion around the commenter who shared her views was on point. By that I mean sharing ones opinion on a design choice is not relevant or necessary. We are all diverse in our likes and dislikes, our appearance , our culture, etc and that’s what makes our world interesting and wonderful. My mom use to repeat a saying to us when we were young that applies here: “if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all.” I adhere to that saying’s sentiment and it’s served me well.
Totally agree, thank you 💕🥰✨
Your sweater is lovely on you. The color is very flattering. Love your aesthetic. Thanks for the visit.
I loved seeing your video pop up as I so much enjoy your quotes, your thoughts and all your beautiful makes. Thanks for sharing all those things
What a wonderful podcast. I love being in your peaceful beautiful garden. You have so many birds singing. Your garden is a little bit of heaven! You are knitting projects by two designers that are on my list, Yumiko Alexander and Natasja Hornby. I have been knitting with Sandes Garn Line all summer and love it. I have knit the Soho top twice and do not find it too hot to wear on a 30C day. I knit the ILha sweater in Sandes Garn Line with mid length sleeves. It is a little warm in 30C weather, but perfect in the 20C temperatures. I think I will be able to wear it in the fall as well. I am looking forward to hearing how your top by Yumiko is knit in Sandes Garn Line. Finding the perfect yarn for her projects is what has held me up. I was even thinking I would have to order her yarn online. Unfortunately our Canadian dollar is so low compared to the USA dollar. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
Your Ample Tee is beautiful just as it is…I am casting off my Ample Tee as I am watching your video…I still haven’t decided whether I will do the icord edge on the neckline or not ❤️
Dear Helle, it's always a pleasure to listen to you and watch all your beautiful projects... so inspiering to me 😍 in this episode it's the first time that I have already knit one of your WIPS... it's the Lunae Shawl... so much fun and I hope that you will love yours as much as I love mine 😍 warm regards from your knitting friend in Switzerland 😘💞🌸💞
Thanks so much, Smilla/Uta 🥰
Great video - thanks! Love the projects you’ve completed and WIP. It’s really interesting you’re looking to knit accessories as well - love the bag!! Always value your positive thoughts. 💝😁
Lovely, calming video, as always. Thank you for that. I just received my order of Dandoh yarn to make the Agave, I am making the longer sleeve Navy one. I look forward to your progress and any tips as you knit this gorgeous sweater, it was my “swoon” moment when I first saw it. 😌 The more you showed the bag, the more it started to grow on me.
So nice to see you again and hear that you had a great vacation! One thing that helps me when I feel I can’t clearly hear a podcast is to turn on closed caption . If I miss a word or two I can see it and don’t fret about the word and then miss the following words as well😂
Your outdoor surrounding is marvelous! Thanks for sharing it with us! ❤❤❤
I love Yumiko Alexander's designs!
I love spending time with you in your beautiful garden. Yes, you faded in and out at times, but I could still hear what you were saying. More beautiful projects and yarns to admire. You always seem to find such unusual and pretty garments. I look forward to seeing those finished WIPs. I do like a three needle bind off, and depending which side you do it on, it can look seamless or have a visible seam (which I rather like).
Thank you Helle, for your company today. 💕
I always enjoy your company wherever you are❤and your garden is so beautiful and so is your knitting. The Sarang bag and the top in the same style....very cool! Both in my queue now😅
Excellent ❤️ Thanks for being here 🥰
I really love your projects and I´m looking forward to see them finished, thanks for sharing
What a lovely treat to have a new podcast from you today. It's always a delight to watch and listen to you. I prefer being outside too though today our temperature has suddenly dropped and it's quite cold, though back up to very warm again tomorrow.
It's a coincidence that you are currently knitting Agave as two days ago someone in my knitting group mentioned it and Beth MacDonald Stone's podcast and within the next half hour I had added the pattern to my Ravelry queue. It does look a pretty pattern and as if it will be a relaxing garment to wear. I'm interested that you've chosen to knit it in Line, the same as Beth, as when I looked at the pattern on Ravelry it uses an aran weight yarn but Line is dk. I hadn't got any further in investigating but was a bit puzzled. I also listen to Easily Knitfluenced
I love your Sarang bag, I'm very tempted to have a try though have other items to knit first - a shawl KAL coming up (I've not knitted a shawl before, it will take me ages) and a couple of gifts to make for friends.
I hope your late summer days are happy and filled with love and knitting. Take care. Karen x
Thanks so much for your comment, Karen. Happy knitting 😘💞✨
Hi Helle! Another wonderful video! Along the same lines of your quote, I have been practicing being “unoffendble”. It is definitely a practice, and I am better some days than others. I imagine it will be a lifelong practice, but I am finding it so worth it. I’m much less anxious and much more joyful when I can let things go!
And I love that you’re outside! The wind and the birds are so pleasant. And you should spend every minute you can spend outside while you can ❤
And in the US we call the hat a bucket hat. There a over 100 patterns for a knitted bucket hat in Ravelry 🎉
The Lunae is in my queue, as well, and I will cast on for the fall. But here in Texas, that will be around the middle of October 😂
Thank you for sharing life with us!!
I appreciate your whole comment so much, thank you 🙏🏻🥰❤️
What a lovely video, beautiful granara, lovely scenery and sound. Thank you!!
Garments not granara lol
I always love your podcast…indoors and outdoors. 😊. You always inspire me with your knits and I have knit new to me designs because I liked yours so much. Thank you.
Thank you so much, Gretchen, I appreciate your comment so much ✨❤️
Such a beautiful outdoor setting to share with us, so glad you did 😊 I always love seeing your new podcasts pop up in my feed! Have a wonderful day
While I don’t enjoy the “bat wings” on the ample tee, I can see how it would be a cooler, summer wear. You look so elegant wearing, as usual.
I really appreciate all the tips you give on your knits.
That bag! Who doesn’t need one?
Agave tee looks so drapy (in a very good way). I never think to knit inside out to prevent pilling. Will need to try.
Time for a walk before it gets too late- will save some podcast goodness for after. Thank you!
I really love your aesthetics. I knit the agave as well and love to knit and to wear it and am getting a lot of compliments for it. Thanks again for your very inspiring and entertaining podcast.
loved listening and watching this so very much . thank you xxx
I so love your podcast, thank you so much ‼️
Again another wonderful episode and your quotes are so helpful and mindful. Love it!
TU for another very interesting video. I loved the scenery behind u❤❤❤
Thank you for another beautiful video! You inspire me everyday!!’ ♥️🐑♥️🐑♥️
Love your videos. It is very calming and cool. Smile when you talk about the heat. It is now a pleasant 92° F. After a week of 100° F weather, we feel like we are having a cool spell! I agree with your daughter; “ You be you!” I, too, am starting to knit with cooler yarn as our hot weather lasts much longer than the cool! Louisiana in the USA!
I’m in the Southern Hemisphere, Tasmania, deep in Winter, so I throughly enjoyed sitting outside with you xo I love all your current WIP’s and the items you have finished, beautiful colour choices. You have inspired me to look those Tee patterns. Continue to enjoy your last remaining Summer days, sincerely Kathy
Thanks so much, Kathy 😘❤️
Loved your podcast Helle, being outside in your garden was so refreshing..it is winter here by me in South Africa. The sounds of nature and wind are lovely. Your projects are all amazing. Also enjoyed the Olympics and we watch a lot if cycling enjoying the scenery of the various countries. Take care..and I agree with your daughter's sentiment. You do you. ❤
🙏🏻😘💞
I so enjoy your videos. At the end I wanted to start again. Thank you so much.
Oh thanks so much 💕✨🙏🏻
I always enjoy your videos outside. However, I do wish that the kitty made more appearances. The audio is fine. I have a volume control. I am always inspired by your knitting choices. Thank you for taking time to share.
You are a complete joy to tune into. I really enjoy your content and your perspective. Until next time!
🙏🏻😘❤️
I so enjoy your calming way of making videos. Your style and color aesthetic is so similar to mine. All of your makes are so elegant, including your Ample tee that you’re wearing. So stylish! Thank you for another lovely episode.
🙏🏻💞😘
I always look forward to your podcasts and particularly enjoyed ‘sitting’ in the garden with you! Lots of lovely inspiring knits to follow along with! Enjoy the rest of the summer! 🌸🌷🌺
Thank you for your lovely video. I appreciate all the work and effort that you put into making a video for us. I am always inspired by your work and the lovely yarns you use. Thank you again!
I always enjoy your quotes at the start of your videos. Always good reminders or practices for us to bring into our lives. And of course I enjoy seeing your latest projects!
I always enjoy your choices and watching your creative impulses. Your knits are beautiful. Thank you!
Helle, another wonderful video! So happy to see you embracing summer knits and yarn. I agree, they have a necessary place in our wardrobe.
