I don’t understand how easy it was for the children to forgive their mom & want to fulfill their mom’s (dying) wishes; but not b open to their dad’s wishes? Also, if the grandparents wanted the “traditions,” they could’ve hu plig their daughter to go back to her maiden household.
Sounds like this dad did a lot for his kids (raising them to the best of his abilities, paying for their weddings, etc.). Definitely curious to hear what the children’s version are.

People don’t understand that we live in a world of fake and not wanna really live the life of what we want! Just like doing a job that just giving income to support us but in our heart we don’t really like but just have too! Same thing with marriage, when we date is when we really have true love but when we married is a thing only! You may blame her but did you really love her like when you are dating her(attention,time, support, and gentle-words,! Yes true does hurt!!! We are in the new world nowadays, that kids have no unconditional love for their parents! Just like when you do your parents wrong but they still love you! Funeral and weddings are two events that breaks so many Hmong families! Very sad. I hope to see some changes in the future. If not, our Hmong culture will begin to fade soon cause the new generation will not want to learn it. They will get a lot of resentment going through similar experiences like your kids did here and choose not to pass it on to their kids.
I hope his son’s wife someday cheats on him/ leave him then he will know how it feels like. Sorry to say but these kids have no hearts.

Those kids are wrong they can not force their parents. It’s selfish. They will have their own karma, let them be, don’t help them. No one prevented them from their mom, but need to understand that their mother is an adult who made decisions with consequences. They can not force their father to be involved with her anymore after a divorce. It is very immaturez
This is a one sided story. We’ve not heard from the children’s or from the 1st wife. However, the Hmong culture is a culture that punishes women but does not punish men for their behavior. Kids don’t easily turn their backs on the dad. It takes actions from all to get to a point

It’s so sad that your children abandoned you after what you went through for them. Their mother betrayed you and abandoned them. Your children refused to see that.
You’ve done all that you can as a father to bring your children up. If your children think that your illness is “kev npam”, wait for their turn. Story sounds biased. He sounds like he wants pity points.
Everyone has a choice to love who they love. Don’t make the children decide who they can and cannot love. You’re in the wrong for trying to tell them not to love their mom. I’m from a broken home. I choose love first. Funeral traditions and whatnot isn’t important. I feel like those are silly rules made by men as a scare tactic for women to obey them.

Uncle, we only heard your side of the story so not sure what is the truth but kids do have eyes and ears. For them to reject you that way, you must've done enough damage to them as well. I’m sorry to say but coming from a similar background… there’s always a reason why all your children turned away from you. If it’s their fault, maybe only one would be mad at you but it’s obvious that you did something wrong on your end and that’s why all your sons turn their backs on you. I wonder if they were pained when their mom left them for another man and then again for another man after the oldest son went to church for her? I guess that kind of loyalty for that type of mother beats a father’s unconditional love for his kids.
