I've had a few of y'all asking for a full gameplay commentary, so here it is! The HMG/MG Eruptor combo has become my favorite way to fight the bugs. I'm real glad we no longer NEED to bring so many dedicated anti-tank weapons. Stun grenades and the Eruptor/HMG deal with chargers really well, and the HMG can even finish off wounded bile titans. Let me know how y'all feel about this new format of video. I'm always tryin to get better as a helldiver and as a creator, so I value y'alls feedback! Hope you've enjoyed the show. Edit: Apologies for my loud keyboard. Once my new mic gets in, it should stop pickin it up.
I prefer the crossbow than the erupter. Love 1x optics, doesn’t explode automatically, and shoots faster. Now it can close bug holes. It’s fantastic now.
Great as always! Some important tips for ya tho! HMG excels at taking down spore spewers and shrieker nests from safe and convenient distance. Eruptors biggest weakness is slow fire rate, reload, and handling, this ALL can be counteracted by the right secondary. Bushwacker (while good) exacerbates this problem with its low capacity. The odd best friend of the eruptor is the dagger! That laser pistol, not needing to EVER reload because it will cool down while you work a rythm cycling back n forth between the two, allowing for near 100% uptime on targets. I call it "eruptor weaving". It also overcomes the poor handling as you can switch to aquire targets with your sidearm before swapping and shooting a quick eruptor blast. Try it out my friend!
See this is why I ask for y'all to share what you've learned. People who use certain weapons a lot have learned how they work and know how to get the most out of them. Thanks for the tips! I'll try it with the dagger next time, I just never even considered it because it has been bad for so long. I also did not know that the HMG could take out spore spewers or shreiker nests. Just never occured to me to try!
@@CommissarKai Thank you thank you, it's the least I could do to pay back your great and positive content. Indeed, the dagger isnt the most powerful (I'm just hate managing my sidearm along with the Eruptor), you may end up preferring something like the Redeemer. especially with a build like today that includes an ammo pack, you can kind of go more wild with the Redeemer, which is honestly quick powerful, (especially against the Eruptor's greatest foe... hunters and shrikers!)
My Helldivers game has improved significantly since I started prioritising assistance and support like you espouse - THANK YOU - would love to see some more videos about how you decide how to position yourself with regards to teammates and terrain, enemy positions etc
Making a positioning themed video shouldn't be too hard. Would pair nicely with the last video about situational awareness. Thanks for the idea! I'll see what I can cook up.
eruptor is in a good place right now. the nerf was too heavy at first but it feels great now, the massive explosive damage feels about what it was doing before without the whole “accidentally one-shotting chargers” thing
31:36 I used to be one of the quasar-supply pack people (until they increased quasar's cooldown). I found it super effective because with most of my strategems being focused on tank killing, I relied heavily on my primary to clear the hordes, which meant I was out of ammo and grenades fairly quickly.
@@CommissarKai I remember when putting it together I didn't recognize the synergy either, and was just attempting to fill my backpack slot. Then I found it effective and just stuck with it.
you should try the new "peak physique" armor perk with the HMG/MG, since those weapons benefit more from the increased handling. when I used it with the AMR it became very smooth.
The mg sentry is a nice pick to support you, it sweeps the hunters so you don't have to. Really is a game changer when you don't need to worry about those. Gatling sentry also works a bit better but friendly fire + longer cooldown makes both a valid choice. Personally I prefer ammo economy vs bugs when it comes to sentries.
“We all just gotta accept that (Eruptor change) and move on” yeah I have to agree, it’s a shame but maybe they will give it a whole different spin in the future. Let them give us a different shrapnel weapon and let’s start over. Btw lovin your videos, your voice is relaxing 👍
If no shrapnel it should have a bigger explosion radius and a small boost to its explosive damage. Still love it but it’s area of effect feels very small now
@@Pyromaniac77777 Ye lol I don’t disagree on that it definitely still hits whatever you shoot it at like you threw a damn refrigerator at their face, I just miss when you’d shoot it into a group of lil bots and see em all drop lol the radius is just smaller that’s the main difference I can feel
For the next one, I'll be adding some notes of things to talk about, so I can hopefully stay on topic a little better while I play. I'm still working on adding a discord, so if you'd like to play with some like minded Helldviers, keep an eye on the channel!
I love the heavy machine gun but I think it shines with the bots a bit more. The stalwart and medium machine gun works well on the bugs with their higher capacity. I usually run the erupter with a stalwart and I think I will try it with the bushwhacker now after seeing this, I’ve been using the grenade pistol so long it feels like it’s time for a change
Personally, the medium MG is the sweet spot for me, but the stalwart on 1100rpm is so much fun to play with. I had the lowest expectations for the HMG (it is more of a bot weapon), but I was very pleasantly surprised at how effective it could be against the bugs. Feels like it really is just up to personal preference at this point.
@@CommissarKai yeah, I was using it myself today against the bugs. I really like the hmg so I try to make it work. If it penetrated the charger armor a bit better it would be great but most of the time you still have to outmaneuver them and then having faster handling of the lighter ones is nice. The stalwart feels almost as fast at shredding most of the bugs under the chargers so I usually just default to that to get the 250 rds
try the xbow instead. For utility purposes, its faster to aim, shoot, and reload, making it far more efficient and helpful for taking out nests and factories, which is the main reason you take the eruptor now. While the eruptor technically does more damage than it per shot, I dont think it hits any important breakpoints that aren't matched by the increased fire rate of the xbow when compared to it anyways. xbow can 1 shot headshot devastators and 1 shot bodyshot scouts. 2 shotting devastators with the eruptor really isnt anything to brag about. For bugs, it takes too many shots to destroy charger butts either way so there's not that much of a reason to compare them imo. Both of them have level 3 piercing, so you're not destroying armor with either of them. the eruptor might be a little better at taking out certain enemies, but I don't think its enough to warrant taking it over the xbow when both of their largest strengths are being able to destroy spawners, and the xbow is far better at that than the eruptor. Also, if you're taking a supply pack anyways, the "ammo efficiency" the eruptor has over it when it comes to damage per magazine doesn't matter.
I have to admit I've been sleeping on the crossbow. I think I would like it more against the bugs, but you make a good argument for why it competes with the Eruptor, especially in this loadout. I'll give it a shot!
Disagree, Eruptor is in a Better place but it is now outshone by the crossbow, and to be clear the buffs it got by no means am I complaining about, Faster fire rate, destruction utility, ammo economy, handling snappy enough to nail hip-fire hail-marys and hits the a lot of the same kinds of breakpoints with the only drawbacks of range (compensated by experienced lobbing) and AOE, which is in my experience even more inconsistent with the Eruptor now than when it did have shrapnel due to the sharp aoe damage fall-off they implemented around the same time they put magic no-scope ricochets into the game and the kneejerking continued from there. Don't get me wrong, I still love the gun and will copium just as hard when rocking it... but it is not good. It used to have a payoff for only firing once a week, and handling like a bus; which was an exponential damage potential (not always fulfilled) and phenomenal aoe and it STILL had its limitations. Now? Well... crossbow would actually be my choice over it, still shines vs bots though.
I think you are underselling the eruptor, but I do agree that the crossbow is in a MUCH better spot now that it can destroy fabs/bug holes. The eruptor is better at dealing with spewers since it only takes three butt shots or two headshots, which is the main reason I like taking it. While the aoe is small, it does still hit very hard against packs of these enemies. Think of it like a primary version of the AMR that can also close bug holes. I would say that the crossbow would probably be better in this particular loadout since we have the HMG, but if I bring a medium MG or the stalwart, I really want to have that ability to deal with Bile artillery from range. End of the day, it's just personal preference, so run whatever you enjoy the most!
@@CommissarKai I don't think I am, but to be fair I've not got all the sodium out of my system seeing all those successive brutal nerfs - so I could probably split hairs about it for longer than healthy. My feelings for now remain; crossbow is a net better performer than the Eruptor... I'll still use and prefer (for aesthetic reasons) that once portable naval cannon until I'm court martialed... Doesn't mean it's not been massacred. Rock on though. :)
Main reason I dislike eruptor still is bile spewers honestly, takes like twice as many shots to kill them as it used to and with how many spawn/how long it takes to fire again it just feels kinda bad
It could be that the planets we're currently fighting over have more vegetation on them which is making the targeting not work, but that's just a guess. Once they fix the arc thrower, I'll run it more often (still good, but that bug is annoying for me).
Bro…vitality does not affect your health at all. I’m sure you know this, but it only affects the % chance your limbs will take injury…almost useless at higher levels like you play. You should consider; stamina, hellos op (ammo), stim, and motivational shocks. Those are the top four choices for a squad across the board. There are a few others you can consider for specific purpose and you swap them for motivational shocks.
I'm working off information from this video: ua-cam.com/video/gWOyN-OdAME/v-deo.html It's a real noticeable difference if you don't take the vitality booster. You are able to take hits that would have otherwise killed you, so that's why I heavily recommend it.
@@CommissarKai Yeah, absolutely. Vitality booster is just a fantastic choice, I never drop without it. Vitality, Stamina, Ammo, and Stim is my group's current go-to for most missions (we don't take Stamina on extermination/defence missions)

Totally valid. I am all for people using whatever the hell they want. I was aiming that comment at people that are following the salt train of "Eruptor bad" because of the shrapnel change. For me it's the quasar, can't stand it for some reason, doesn't mean that it's a bad weapon.
