Well we have a big debate for the 911 series! Do we switch the plan up and go manual OR do we stay PDK?
I’d say RS engine and suspension, but the GT3 manual transmission. Best of both worlds, bud.
He’s got another suspension in mind
Light weight fly wheel!!!
Bud
@@ndb_static_6850ohlins
I think the engines the same, its just tuned to make a little more power.
I might be crazy, but imagine the green shell becoming your racing sim setup👀
OOHH MY MAN THINKING DIFFERENT this one right here I likere
DUDE perfect 🤩
Save the MANUALS!
MAKE. IT. MANUAL.
Keep the manual since you already have a pdk car it’s a nobrainer
Manual manual manual!!!!!!!
No sh it kid
Defeats the whole purpose he doesn’t have a manual transmission then he’d have to spend another 30k
100%
@@codywelk2559 did you even listen to the part of the video where he said it would be 13 K for a manual transmission and he can sell the auto. He already has for 15k. Meaning, actually, he would put some money back in his pocket by going manual
From the financial perspective it makes perfect sense to go manual. It's cheaper to buy and it makes the car worth more money. Also, it makes the vin match the powertrain the car was given from factory.
10,000,000,000% manual. SAVE THE MANUALS!!!
Manual, love to see you compare both cars and that will bring some great content and it will be worth more in the end.
Manual all day. The 991.1 already has the pdk with a smaller engine, so the 991.2 with a manual should balance the two out in terms of outright acceleration while being a different driving experience
Can never beat a manual
Im with you brother
100% manual
agree. Took the words straight from my mouth
They're both 911.2 one is just GT3 the other is RS
991.2 GT3 RS PDK has shorter gear gears, in fact the RS has the shortest gears of any modern Porsche. It also has more torque since the manuals are locked to 338 lbs for durability apparently. So if you’re going track performance PDK all the way. If you like shifting gears - PDK cause you have an extra one and can get max revs more often. If you’re just going for a back roads cars probably manual.
Having owned both they have their merits however since you already have an RS PDK manual makes sense especially for the resale.
100% MANUAL! It's more fun, higher value, different than what you already have, and an easier swap to boot! This is a no brainer.
I would go with the manual transmission exactly because of the reason you stayed. You already have an auto, so why not best of both worlds. Plus a manual Porsche sounds really fun tbh.
TJ out here collecting GT3rs' like they're skittles.
There’s only two RS’s lol
They are the same colors
Do people collect skittles?
Keep it manual and have the best of both worlds
He makes good money on it, great content that makes good money and he will sell it for a good profit. That's not really collecting..😅
The difference Is you built one and bought one , ones blood sweat n tears , ones heart and soul
Tj should use the shell of the green gt3rs as a cockpit for the drift sim
Or an actual drift gt3rs that’s fd legal🤷🏾♂️
@GioGotti217 that is alot easier said than done 😅
Bro copied my comment lmao
@@CTM.PHOENIX never saw it but hell yeah
I just commented this before seeing you said it😂
➡️ Side project.. chop the RS in half and install your gaming rig into the front half!!
I’m a manual fan on this. Gives you both worlds. Better value. Plus you keep the car original.
I think the main difference will be that you can (try to drift a manual) a pdk won’t even allow it TJ I personally think that you should try making the Porsche gt3 that you’re building into a drift car. It will bring you much more recognition than monetary value if you fucking built that thing and didn’t sell it instead drifted it. 9:58
For driving experience alone, you gotta go manual. Porsches are such good drivers cars, a manual only improves that connection. Not to mention, you already have a PDK gt3.
In general I think us car guys obsess over making everything a manual, but this time it just makes sense
I think you have this really unique opportunity to design a GT3 car that is one of one. You have the RS engine, get a manual trans, your custom suspension, and you have wide body company that you can make a one of one kit for that is RS+ that Porsche would be proud of. High risk, high reward.
This is it! This is what TJ should listen to!
A manual is so special, I think you would be crazy to not go for it the value it will have in future and the fun you will have makes it a no brainer imo :)
Convert the green RS body into your gaming simulator.
😮😮😮
I see you're a man of class! Great idea
Coming from someone who’s only owned a manual the PDK seems like the no brainer option. But if you actually keep it then a manual is the option I would choose. Only because you’d have both choices. If you sell it like usual then I’d think the PDK is going to be the more desirable choice. You do you bro
Manual all day, I’ve been thinking manual since the begging because you definitely won’t get rid of the UVP car so yeah I’m with Dillon
You could argue that the S/T is a manual RS so if you make your build inspired by the S/T you could say that it's less of a frankenstein build.
The transmission seams to have a few bespoke components such as the flywheel and the clutch but since you have the car apart you could look for aftermarket components to achieve a package similar to the S/T or maybe even source them directly from porsche.
Literally nothing but positives from staying manual both from a business standpoint and fun factor
Manual all the way slamming through the gears kicking the clutch dropping the box . Nothing beats that
MANUAL .. it's a no brainer!
Do not keep manual
1. You won't be able to use paddle steering wheel
2. The engine is tuned for the pdk
3. High speeds are easier to navigate when both hands are on the wheel
Manual for sure TJ. Fun > Performance
NOW YOUR GOING IN MY FAVOURITE CAR DIRECTION 😊 THANK YOU FOR THIS BUILD ❤❤
Manual. Would be cool to fit the front fenders of the RS to the red car if they're salvageable. Would be interesting to make this a bespoke trim.
This guy man. Why would you want the exact same car you already have? Get a new feel!!! That’s the only answer! MANUAL
He's selling it anyways as he stated many times lol even if it's manual he won't keep it long enough to drive it so he'll just be doing it for someone else.
pretty sure his first RS had a manual, resale value on a crashed and rebuilt RS is prob going to be garbage
@@austinkrucknot really since technically the red body isint getting any major body frame work like the green one would
@@badillo280 I can’t imagine many people are going to want to buy a rebuilt RS mule with a crash on the car history
@@austinkruck I would and im pretty sure there’s more dumbass like me lol
It’s not just a manual it’s a Porsche manual, it just hits different. Especially since you already have a PDK, manual is the only way to go.
Keep the manual, and turn this 991 into a track time attack car.
Manual all day every day, this shouldn't even be a question or debate!
Manual without question. I was honestly bummed you were ditching the manual for the PDK but with manual back on the table PLEASE DO IT!
Definitely keep the manual. I would look to find carbon body panels to keep the weight down.
savethemanual!!!!!!!!!
The only argument for PDK is if you were going to track this car *competitively. You can still track the car with a manual and it will definitely be more visceral. The PDK would be faster on track tho. But like I said, it would only matter if you were going to be competing with it. If you’re just going to the track to have fun with the car (which you should definitely do with this car being that it’s a crashed car already) then the manual would be super fun.
Save the manuals!
SAVE THE MANUALS!!! It is not always about how fast, but how fun!
Hands-down, Dylan is the best addition to the team😂😂
yes im happy he is with tj now
Defiantly keep it manual. Especially since you'll have both options to drive in the long run
Hey Teej, i agree with you. If you already have a gt3rs thats auto, i find you can have best of both worlds if you went manual. Honestly tough choice between trans both have pro's and cons but you'll make a killer car regardless. Go manual, screw it!
Manual! No doubt
A manual RS sounds very appealing! Plus you drove a manual 911 last year and your enthusiasm was showing. Many of us dream about a 911 RS in a manual format.
I own a PDK car, but I would go with a manual all day.
Do it manual. Call in the stig and have him do hot laps with brand new tires. See how far they are apart. Keep the carbon brakes. Personally I wouldn’t let those go. I think it would be more rs than modified gt3. Because that’s kinda the line you guys are crossing, is it an rs Frankenstein build or a modded gt3. I’d keep as much of the rs type parts around while also going manual.
I initially was thinking it should be PDK for sure. By the end of the video I agree with leaving the manual and track them both!
Same here!!
Imma say manual, I dont know about anything when it comes to driving manual, but it feels cool. Its a Frankenstein, fuck it up, go crazy, make it weird, it just sounds more fun. Plus more content, you can compare the two cars down the line. And hey, if its even weirder of a car, kinda means youll feel more comfortable with doing crazier things to it.
Teej, you literally answered your question several times. Cheaper to buy a manual transmission; better resale value, different (not going to say better) driving experience, and you already have a PDK so…
Technically his resale value would be the same regardless of trans because it’s a Porsche🤣
Manual because selling the PDK transmission can recover a bunch of cash. Not only that, you should sell everything you don't plan to use to recover as much as you can.
Keep the manual!
+1 for manual. I mean, how much fun to be able to pick what you want on any given day.
Gotta go with manual!
Definitely do the manual dude. Nothing is better than a red Porsche banging gears in a canyon road.
Keep the manual since you already have a PDK and it would take more effort to make the pdk work in the new shell
Manual off course, the red comes with manual, so don't change that, if you are already worried about resale value, keep it manual and put the PCCB from the green one.
Also, manual gearbox its lighter, rarer spec, and you have the purple with pdk.
We all want you to build a drift car out of the Green GT3 RS shell!
SAVE THE MANUALS. Build it drift spec it's the way good content is going. You guys have the knowledge to build a sick as fk one 🤘🤘
Manual for sure makes sense to have the 2 different trans in each
Hot take. RS engine, gt3 transmission gt3rs body panel swap doors, bumpers, fenders onto gt3 and gt3rs interior swap. if not just the gt3rs seats for the interior. (chances TJ wont see this are likely)
Manual
realistically, both of these cars are only gonna see the street, so the performance arguments between the two are irrelevant. it comes down to which one you enjoy driving more
MANUAL!!!! Definitely, manual! Dude, to have what almost no one has!
You can tune the PDK. M Engineering offers a PDK tune that sharpens up the shifting.
While I personally have never driven a Porsche PDK, I have had multiple cars with a manual transmission, and I think a manual transmission is way more engaging driving experience. My vote is go with the Manual 😅
If you dont have a manual gearbox in house just attempt the straight swap from the RS to the GT3. If you run into issues there you can sell off the PDK and profit for the purchase of the manual. If you think the manual swap is going to increase the value of a vehicle with an engine swap from a crashed car and no matching parts i guess someone wanting the clout of owning TJ Hunts old car, but to the rest of the world thats redflag after redflag.
Put the manual in and have your own version of the S/T! Manual with RS motor.
Before the video, I was gonna say go PDK still, but after watching the video and understanding both sides, manual seems to be the move!
Manual all the way for the love of that feeling while driving! With the other upgrades your doing the feeling it will give you will be unlike the other cars hands down.
I would build the red car with what ever transmission your purple car doesn’t have. That way you have more flavors in your collection. In spite of the fact that you have two very similar cars.
TJ
It’s simple, manual
Without sounding harsh, so you ever look at a car that has a great history down the line and go
“Yes, it’s an auto” 😅
The PDK on these is great, but the manual gives you 2 options and it is the original Porsche pedigree
I love the comment: “well, I already own a gt3 rs thats pdk.” Love it man. I hope you take a moment every day to look at what you guys have built. Keep moving forward my man. 👍🏼
I say manual, only reason being is because you have the auto gt3 as well! It would be awesome to have the best of both worlds. Seems like a no brainer!
I haven't commented on a video in years but this is one build that I hope listens to the viewers and does the manual transmission! Please do it and maybe turn it into a track/grip car!
The PDK may be faster. But if your into building greater value, and a unique performance from your current GTS experience. Going manual is a no brainer. Plus you don’t want to ignore time over mater.
so many things to think about this, at the end my thoughts for a youtube channel is that either way is not going to be very interesting content to watch so it would make sense to kind of just wrap up the project by keeping it manual if its easier and faster and move on to something else. (hate to seem negative but want to be the devils advocate here). Another thought could be to swap the pdk and do a full send build on the RS engine since the resale value wont really be there on a crashed vehicle anyway.
I think it also might be worthwhile to keep this RS long term since you can A. build it however you want and B.the resale wont be that great from what I can imagine it being totalled. The UV purple RS while being amazing will be a much better resale so that would make more sense to sell.
Even if its better I think the manual trans might be the more engaging experience.
TJ, anyone can own a PDK, but there are not many manual GT3 RS around. So to build manual GT3 RS and drive a manual it, is the best of both worlds.
Turn the Red P-car into a Touring and the Green P-car into a rebuilt drift car. There probably aren't many people in the drift world using a P-car to slide with.
The RS ethos is entirely about being the fastest around a track, hence the PDK. If you go with a manual in the GT3, you should make it a GT3 Cup. Still a manual, but a totally different vibe.
Keep the PDK, Sell the purple one, buy 992 RS
Manual for sure, add a manthey kit and you’ll have a one of a kind car
Place the manual in it, the hardware is 50% there. Plus you are saving two cars technically.
I’d put RS engine GT3 manual but take all the RS aero (fenders, bumper, wing, etc) and take all the suspension and interior!
Keep it a manual, decide which car you like more, and inevitably sell the purple car
Its all there. Manual will be worth more, easier to complete the build and is cheaper to build. Plus it's a manual which is always more fun
Yeah I agree with keeping the manual as its more fun to drive and you already have a pdk one.
Yeah Manual GT3 makes sense all around
personally, i don't care about 0-60 or track times. there will always be a "faster" car but there aren't that many that will be a more satisfying car. steel brakes, rewarding manual, high revving, intoxicating sound... do it!
Manual, driving a manual fast car on the backroads is the best. PDK is great but nothing compared to banging gears on a manual car.
Anyone that truly knows racing knows that you make time in the corners. The better the suspension, the better your time because you carry more speed through the corner. And since you’ll have essentially the same motor, this car with Ohlins, should be faster than your other GT3, even with the extra weight.
Just make this one a test mule car. Try all the different options that interests you in GT3, but can't get yourself to change on your dream car. I think it'll be fun and give you more experiences.
you said it yourself, PDK is the best you can get, and its faster. BUT, if your were to sell the PDK you will definitely make MORE money from it, plus the time of converting the interior over, and we all know time is money. So yeah, Manual it is.
At 1st i was in favour of only keeping the PDK, but after listening to you and how the purple one is PDK, go manual!! And then we can see you drift it around as well!!
manual better easily. save money on trans. save labor on interior and ecu swap. save time on build. more value in the end.
I think the red Porsche would look badass if you keep it red and put the same or similar wheels that you have on the supra.. the red with chrome wheels look badass.... with some white letter tires maybe?.
