It's my first season applying and I doubted how helpful the Insider subscription could be... after the first state application, I'll never doubt it again. Absolutely necessary tool for efficiently hunting the west.
What is going on with trail? I have seen more life in an old burlap sack.
so is it possible to draw two deer tags in one year?
Great Info thanks for sharing the video!
Thanks Trail. Good summary.
Thank you Trail for a short overview on Utah. I would love to hunt pronghorn in every state that I can DIY style no matter the weapon. Possibly combo with a general deer 🦌 hunt, but I know that Utah has long term odds just from checking out the Insider and 2.0.
New resident to Utah from Texas. Does Utah sell an OTC tag for archery General Season Elk? I understand these are limited in quantity correct?
Hi there, they do indeed. Those will go on sale July 8th and the archery licenses are unlimited in quantity.
So if you draw a once-in-a-lifetime tag and are unsuccessful are you able to draw it again until you harvest an animal or is it one draw only?
Once you draw the tag for that species in Utah you are done. You get one chance. You can still apply for other species but not the one you drew for. Thanks for watching!
This is probably a stupid question but does buying an OTC tag affect limited entry bonus points? I've only done one out-of-state hunt and it was an OTC any bull elk hunt last year in Utah. If I am building points for limited entry, but still wanna do the OTC hunts would that affect my points? I've been wondering this for both Utah and Arizona because I'd like to take advantage of the OTC opportunities for elk and deer while building points for those limited entry opportunities.
OTC tags do not affect your bonus points.
Great vid! Thanks for all of the info :)
Can you buy points after the draw in the state of Utah like Wyoming?
Do you have to buy a hunting license to buy preference and bonus points?
You do indeed, and if you buy the license I would suggest you apply for a preference point for general season deer until you are ready to hunt, but you should apply for limited entry and once-in-a-lifetime hunts. With a portion of those hunts being randomly allocated you never know when you might be the lucky applicant that draws a great tag. You will get a bonus point if you are unsuccessful in the draw so you might as well apply for hunts instead of bonus points only.
So I have my hunters ed card here in oklahoma. Do I have to do the online course for hunters ed for utah to be able to app for the hunts?
No. Your oklahoma card should work in all states
Jeff, your hunters safety card from Oklahoma will work for Utah and should in all other states. Good luck this year!
Utah... Elk hunt in the San Juans... one of the best elk hunts in the west!!!!
Best strategy for Utah. Don't even apply. Not worth the wait.
At first glimpse I thought it was a hunt😞
New goHUNT Originals will be here soon! Buckle up, we will be releasing more this year than we ever have!
