I loved that Cracker Barrel sponsored it too. I have family in Georgia, Rossville, and just outside Atlanta as well, and in Florida and other places, so Cracker Barrel is part of my youth as well. My youth, however, predates yours by quite a bit. I actually remember Automats and Stouffers as a restaurant and Marie Callanders as a restaurant and Boston Market as a restaurant. I loved those places. For the record, I don't know if you have heard of them yet or not, but there is a group called Chapel Hart that does an upgrade to Jolene called You Can Have Him, Jolene. Dolly herself gave it her seal of approval, and Loretta Lynn welcomed them to try and "update one of her songs if they wanted to. Dolly and Loretta would leave them with Patsy Kline to get the tripod of Country Goddesses. A pity that Patsy cannot make the request personally.
Yes! Auntie Dolly is the cutest, sweetest, most loveable and talented doll-faced creature! She is the Queen! I am so glad you love her as much as we do. How can you not? Anyone who doesn't love her doesn't have a heart.
Absolutely agree!😊 I grew up in the 60's-70's listening to Dolly & Country music in general, and from all I've ever known about Dolly, she is just such a sweet, bubbly, big-hearted, salt of the earth kind of person.. a real zest for life & loving people, with almost a childlike innocence & exuberance ~ at the end of this song, her little "ta-da" jump with hands outstretched to PTX just epitomized her fun, playful spirit!😉☺️💕 She just turned 77 a couple weeks ago, Jan.19th.. Happy Birthday, Miss Dolly 😘🎂
I love how PTX gives everything to Dolly when she sings. They support her perfectly, never grabbing attention for themselves. True professionals. Dolly actually insisted they take a verse. When they did, they handled it epically. Unbelievably, this was the FIRST TIME Dolly had won a Grammy award for her iconic signature song.
This was a wonderful reaction to a stellar performance. She is truly an icon. Can you imagine what Pentatonix of 2011 would think if someone told them they would be working with Dolly Parton on this amazing song and that they would get a Grammy for it? Wow. My favorite part is her ta-da jump at the end and her big smile. It's THE perfect ending.
Dolly was a grown woman when I was a child, and I turned 61 years old on my last birthday. That she is STILL singing and performing at this level is seriously mind boggling. She is amazing.
My understanding is PTX was very impressed with Dolly. She showed up on time, was very professional and insisted that they take the lead on part of the song, even though their intent was for Dolly to do the whole song.
I still can't wrap my head around what it must have been like to be singing this next to Dolly and then you move to the next verse and hear her SINIGING BACKUP TO YOU! Absolutely unreal.
They didn't know she was going to be there from what I saw. They were supposed to be recording an arrangement but she came in and they recorded it with her. That's just what I saw, so I don't swear to it. If you've listened to Dolly for any amount of time, you can hear she never does the same song the same way. She always does them a little different. I LOVE DOLLY.
You recently reacted to PTX performing Amazing Grace. That video recording was not long after this performance and in Kirstin's solo, I believe I can hear a little of "Dolly" in the way she sings that.
@@rogerroger5171 I can't imagine working with Dolly. She seems so REAL compared to many in the industry. If you listen to her, she never sings a song the same way. That's why at one point it was mostly her siblings who performed with her. I LOVE DOLLY AND PENTATONIX!!!!
Loved your reaction, but also damn girl you have an amazing voice as well. It is said that Pentatonix wanted to feature Dolly, they had no intention on doing more than background, but she insisted. They called her an angel and they very much recognized that she is a legend. Pentatonix is kind of known for giving space for whoever they collaborate with. They never try to outshine whoever joins them (not that they would ever try with Dolly). They also performed this for an awards show or idol show or something with Miley Cyrus (Dolly’s goddaughter, which I’m sure you’re aware of that).
Hi. Love your reactions. You have knowledge of music and so There are so many PTX videos that I think you will love and be amazed by! If you want them to take you to Church. PTX s. “Amazing Grace “or “the Prayer “ will make you swoon. A Capella madness at its finest. Since you know a bit about music. They have a video called “ Making Evergreen” which is behind the scenes making. Their 2022 album that is nominated for a Grammy. It’s so amazing !! Popular music. They are masters of mix. Their evolution of Rhianna is fantastic What they do to,Kiera’s. “Gold” is a masterclass of vocal talent and harmony. It’s live so you can see what everyone does Say Something, Bohemian Rhapsody, Daft Punk, Problem., Sing. Honestly they have never been less than fantastic
That bass is the great Avi Kaplan. Avi is a classically/operatically trained Basso Profundo. Here is a video of him in his cabin deep in the forests in Tennessee. He is a prolific songwriter but thought you might like to hear him singing this. Avi Kaplan House of the Rising Sun ua-cam.com/video/SbaihAMBFDM/v-deo.html Oh yeah, and he is quite the tooth whistler.
Great set. Most singers Dolly's age can't pull a performance like this off. She is now and always has been wonderful and she goes the distance to be a sweety to folks that have no call on her. I am also a fan of PTX. All of them are very talented and professional. A new singer for you (I think) is Haley Reinhart singing with Post Modern Jukebox "Black Hole Sun" , or just her singing "Lay it down".
I don’t know your background but you seem tone knowledgeable in music and fashion and your appreciation of the musical talents not just the sound or lyrics as well as your reactions is a delight to watch in your videos.
You are truly adorable! :):) seen two reactions now... ah, bless you for sharing your spirit with all of us. I have 4 children, they all love and appreciate Dolly. She’s an icon!
if you want an pure treat of dolly's voice and singing ability, check out her album 'trio' with linda ronstadt and emmylou harris. their voices blend as if they were made to. its sunday morning kind of listening.
Was “9 to 5” from that album? Seems like it was. Dolly’s philanthropy work is as impressive as her music career has been. She sure seems well-grounded. So many children and families benefit from the millions of free books she sends them year after year. She is a champion of people in dire need. Dolly contributed greatly to Covid Vaccine Research, when we really needed it, through a chance😊 encounter with a doctor at Vanderbilt University. Respect!
Love your reactions! PTX won a Grammy for this and it’s easy to see why. They also won for “ Daft Punk” and “Dance of the Sugarplum Fairies”. I would recommend checking those out soon. Keep up the good work and best of luck with your channel!
This is my 20 month old granddaughters favorite song. She knows when they are going to start clapping and everything. I recently bought her a toy microphone and she has it on the stand, but she just got it so she knocks it down when she starts clapping. We're raising her right though.
You are too cute for words lady!!! Thank you!!! Loved your reaction! BTW that collaboration got PTX their 3rd Grammy... I love aunt Dolly and PTX so much. They have something in common. Everything they touch turns to gold!
It is 2023....and Dolly has been nominated for 53 Grammys. Has won 10 of them. The most recent, being last year. She is now 77 years old!!!! Who else is still doing that?????!!!!!! GOAT
I just want to say how refreshing your reaction channel is. I love your comments on fashion, music your and your sense of humor. Oh, and your approach. Please keep it up. I would also like to have you check out “Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Cabala “singing - Barcelona Live at El Nit. 1988. This was performed live in Barcelona in 1988 to celebrate Barcelona’s selection to host the 1992 Olympics. Freddy wrote this opera duet especially for Montserrat Cabal who he admired. There are several videos of he and her singing Barcelona, the official music video and as they toured across Spain. But this one is unique and special. It was performed at El Nit. He is wearing a black tux and she is wearing a black dress with sparkling stones.
Now that you have heard Jolene, you should listen to Chapel Hart's follow up song "You Can Have Him Jolene". They performed it on America's Got Talent and received the golden buzzer for it.
When I was little, we lived in a small town that was one of those places celebrities secretly live. Chuck Norris had a place there and Dolly Parton's sister did. My dad ran a mixed martial arts school out of our home and worked as a personal trainer at the gym. The local gym had a lot of body guards and cops that worked out there. Well, one day a limo started parking across the street when my dad was teaching a class or training himself. Every few days it would park and sit there for half an hour or so. My dad mentioned it to some of his gym buddies and one said that he knew what that was about. It was Dolly Parton's sister and she was considering him for a body guard position. The man also said that it wouldn't happen again because she'd seen us (his toddler age kids) and thought he wouldn't want a job that would take him away from us constantly. My dad told his friend that she had assumed correctly. This would have been 1991 or so when I was a toddler.
Keep in mind that the Parton, Harris, and Ronstadt is probably the best "pop" group there has ever been. All spectacular in their own right, but come together with no flash or ego, just perfection.
The bass is Avi Kaplan. He left PTX four or five years ago. He is definitely one of the best bass singers I have ever heard. The first reaction I saw you do was Home Free's Man of a Constant Sorrow, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I mention that because Avi joined Home Free and did the classic Johnny Cash song 'Ring of Fire' you just have to check that one out!

The Song is brilliant and empowering, but the back story on these three women trying to break into Nashville is what blows me away. s and it still gets me emotional.
