Super quick and raw video for you today. Nothing fancy here, just wanted to get the message out to those of you putting pH up/down directly into your nutrient solution. Adding pH up/down directly into the nutrient solution is a mistake that I've made before and I don't hear many people talk about this crucial step. Here is that video by Everest Fernandez that I spoke about within this video-> ua-cam.com/video/X5vLME0N-54/v-deo.html

Excellent advice Chris, It was a mistake I made thirty years ago and had to learn by myself because there was no internet back then.
You new growers don't realize how good you have it with people Like Chris to steer you right.
My first and last experience with adding potassium silicate was awful, It coagulated into a suspended sludge like substance (thats what the cloud Chris showed you) my pump distributed it throughout my system and plugged up drip lines and I had to scrape it off my rock wool so the water would go through it again, I replaced all of my spaghetti lines.

It's called flockulation it happens anytime you ad up to a fert solution to avoid do as you did or adjust the plane water first then add the fert and it will drop down.
Flockulation is binding the fert molecules up too big to enter the roots it turns into something similar to gyprock turning cloudy and falling out of solution. Great tip I worked in a hydro store for over ten years and almost no one was aware of this

Keep the water turning in one circular stirring motion while adding your droplets and it will cut down on the clouding tremendously. Very good thoughts though, diluting it would be the A+ way to go. So med.

And then also having to re-assess PPMs, EC, and TDS. It’s a never ending cycle it seems. And also seems like it would take hours to feed your plants plants playing catch up

Hey man could you revisit this on a grow talk. Maybe like chemical reactions with nutes. You could talk about the ph cloudy again. Also include proper silica mixing so you don't make sand. And I also know about calcium locking out phosphorus or potassium if mixed in the wrong ratios. I'm trying to think of any other reactions to be aware of but I'm sure there's alot. Didnt you settle that phing is fine for microbes. But I think you get the jist, I think this would be a great topic.

After only a few watering's you should know how much of which product (Up or Down.) that you'll need to add to get within your pH range.
Once you know that you can add your pH prior to mixing.
Started doing that when I switched to well water, where I had to start using pH down & because it was acidic ( As apposed to pH up just being a base.) I figured that it would lock up easier and after I have my water measured out adding more water is just that extra water that throws off the formula (However minor that is.).
Never really thought of it from a chemical reaction stand point.

Anytime you mix acid or base into a chemical compound you are always going to get a chemical reaction. That’s the point. Just because you deleted it doesn’t mean it’s not still doing the same thing. You see the cloud because it’s a high dose reaction but in reality when it’s diluted it’s a smaller scale but the same chemical reaction is still occurring

I then tried to raise pH in same solution but just a cup of it and it worked. Could not figure outlets why the main 5 gallon world not move from 4.1. I rested enough so I left it as-is at that point since I already wasted a good amount of my small bottle. What you explained in this vid must be what I was going through. Your video randomly popped up and made me realize I forgot to ph my 55gal drum I mixed earlier when I had a major distraction. . I'm in promix and the drum was at 6.7.. Thank you,. I also dilute and ph down my silica before adding to the drum. it has a very high ph and can cause some fallout when nutrients start getting added depending on your starting ph. I think around 8 bad things start happening. I was having clouding issues and this stopped it immediately. Using jacks 3-2-1 and I mix in a 5 gallon bucket and then add it to the drum in the proper order. For me Its more steps but gives me the opportunity to catch myself if I screw up.

i could see diluting the mixture so as to mix the mixture in small amounts to get to your target, but you just poured the whole thing in... you can just add a few drops at a time to the primary container at that rate... but let me say to anyone who thinks they can bypass ph testing. you can't... and if you're doing hydroponics you MUST check daily because the plant will really mess with the ph balance depending on where it's at in its growth and nutrient needs.

I am new to cannabis cultivation and I am in the process of learning how to grow. So far, I have decided to grow autoflowers in coir mixed with 15% perlite and with granular organic fertilizer. Just recently, I've learned of the importance of pH.
I am on well water and had it laboratory tested about 7 years ago. It showed that I had a pH of 7.17 which I understand is far too alkaline for growing in a soil-less medium. I'm assuming this number hasn't changed significantly so apparently I have to bring the pH down to around 5.8 or slightly lower. While I understand how to do this, my problem is in finding good, objective information as to which particular pH meter I should purchase.
The most consistent and credible information is that the cheap meters aren't worth purchasing. The reviews of the cheaper units on Amazon seem to support this.
I noticed that you are using an Apera p60 which happens to be one of the two that I'm considering. The other is the Bluelab BLU2210 pH Pen. The most significant difference between the two (in my opinion) is that you can purchase a replacement probe for the Apera but not the Bluelab. I have no idea if this is an important consideration.
I'm hoping that you could provide me with your recommendations.
I've watched many of your videos and find them extremely helpful. Thanks for your efforts. Cheers.

What I would like to know is, do I need to start balancing my pH before I pour Foxfarm into soil or should I just follow the recommended chart regardless of how high my pH gets because my babies seem to keep disintegrating every time I does, even when I dial it back. It’s just a conundrum to me and I don’t want to mess up and I wanna get this figured out and how to convert fox farms for soil has been a journey; most definitely switching to Hydro in the next few years when I can afford it.

Hellz yeah brother been researching around the clock for quite some time and never have never heard about this hack or pre-diluting your ph up and down before adding to your nutrient solution!👍 So kind of just stating the obvious here but if your just ph'ing your water without any other nutrients involved theres obviously no need for this ......correct!?!?👍

Wow thanks for sharing this. I was recently wondering why this was happening to me when i added ph up. I was also having problems with magnesium and calcium with perfect watering of 6.3 soil grow. I think this is gonna solve my problem!

Nice video thank you for the PH dillution tip. I think it depends what kind of nutrients you are using - many nutrient lines have a certain way you add the nutrients to prevent any chemical response. Fox Farm is one of those brands along with Grotek I have had no issues using direct PH down with. With compost teas etc - like you said there will def be a reaction. Would introducing some of the compost tea into the water that you are PH downing in the cup make any difference? I guess it would let you see if there was going to be a strong reaction - just theorizing here.

That why every brand recommends to do not mix nutes from other different brands. I use biocanna nutes with terra soil, dont check the ph always get 1g per 1 watt. Not sure if changing nutes and method will result in a disaster

Your content is amazing on point material. Keep up the good work.
Have a Q? Can i pre mix my nutrients, molasses, recharge, etc. and save for future feeding and if so for how long can i store for.
