All that super talent - and it sounds as though he’s also wonderful person on top. Who else would care enough to give a youngster over two hours of personal coaching? Full marks to Shin. 👍🏻👍🏻
The best way to look at this is think of it like booking shin lim in your home for 2 hours and he gives you some utilities to help you in your magic career as he walks you through how to use them! I have never been excited about a magic kit until now...to accompany this kit I would probably buy a bicycle deck of cards for like $5 and then it could be used for literally years
I remember back when I was in elementary school and I first learned how to do magic the kit that I got had a vanisher, magic top hat, and a box with removable sides you could show empty and then produce anything and used that kit to put together a routine i performed in my elementary talent show. It's my first magic memory and I'll never forget it. This kit looks amazing for kids and even younger adults new to the craft.
My 6 year older daughter got a magic kit for Christmas...I had to go online to figure out the workings of the linking ring trick. I will say once i taught it to her, she loves the trick.
The best kit thus far and such a great name behind it. If anyone should teach through a kit, it should be SL. Regarding svengali tricks, treasure chest is still the best. I actually performed it recently for a visitor and it blew their mind! Such a great experience for both of us👍 Thanks for reviewing!
Have you done a magic kit comparison video? I'd really like to see something that compares and contrasts the Penn and Teller kit to this one and the ones by Ellusionist. Also, I seem to always hear about kids and adults, but I think there are the folks that fall in between. Heck, there are more videos for you to make: things to consider regarding age/maturity (kid-teen-adult-senior) and life stage (has time vs. busy person). And how to find what works for you without spending a fortune on things you will end up not using much. Maybe you have a whole series here. Or (maybe and) I think you would make a good candidate to write a book (make it a digital version so you can link to videos).
I’ve been wondering for a long time when someone would put out a kit like this because it will kill it on the magic kit market because every other kit I’ve ever seen is as you said toys and everyone comes with he SAME toys in every single one all the same tricks so this is amazing for a magic kit. And he gives some routines with the items in the kit absolutely awesome!
@@magicorthodoxy honestly this is the first magic kit I’ve seen since I was a kid that I would buy and actually I want to buy it lol I will probably end up getting it just to have the video plus I’m very interested in some of the tricks that are in it
Ask any British magician of a certain age and they'll remember The Paul Daniels Magic set getting them into magic. That was actually pretty terrible, but we still remember it fondly. Shin has created something that looks genuinely great. This will help so many kids develop a love of magic!
I think you nailed this review perfectly. I bought the kit thinking Shin may be making a money grab off of his name recognition, and wanted to see if it was something that may tarnish his reputation (I would expect with his "name" on it to be selling for $75 and above) and BOY was I wrong! I could not believe the quality of everything in the kit. I too thought the lack of an actual deck was the one downside, and I was also concerned about the "bridge" sized cards. However, bridge sized cards make more sense for a beginner or a child since they are easier to handle for some. Personally, I think the packet tricks alone are with the cost of the set! They are fairly easy and fun to perform! It was also VERY easy to sit through the tutorial in one sitting. Time kind of blew by due to the quality of it, and Shin's style of teaching/talking. I'm 62 years old and have only been into magic since November. I wish this was the first thing I ever bought! ...and I did laugh out loud when he made a Family Guy "cool whip" reference during the mint box presentation. :)
What’s awesome about this for working magicians is I have everything in this kit… but the better version I suppose. I.e brass and walnut material for the gimmicks from the vanishing box among others. This kit is great for a gift for someone who is young and really interested In magic. You can do a kids birthday and perform a lot of what’s in the kit. With the finally of gifting this kit to the birthday child. It’s not for every gig but def a way to keep magic alive and put in the right hands. IMHO

If above 13/14yo I would say that kit will give you a better selection of tricks, including things like cigarette vanishes and coin bite/coin in bottle. a mistake that he won? Two times, actually. Shin Lim first appeared on season 2 where he actually managed to fool the two legendary magicians. For season 4, he came back with new tricks and, once again, stumped the pair.
This guy is very annoying. Seen him several times. Talks too much with his hands as if what he's saying is more important than the topic. Takes too much time talking about what he's going to talk about! Simplify man.
Hey check out REAL MAGIC REVIEW - or TYLER LUNSFORD or FIDDLIN JONNY for magic reviews - you'd probably like them better - sorry I'm annoying! LOL Thanks for stopping by :D
I just wrote an honest review about this magic kit and it got deleted it. I guess people can't know the true about this product but that's ok. I thought it was an "honest" review channel.
how weird, I never saw it under this screen name? The only comments that get blocked on my channel are ones with swear words - sorry about that - write it again
it took 4 mins and 37 sec's to realize you were talking too much... there's only so much of a story that we want to know and therefore a little less of that would really help...
Shin Lim who?? The card guy whose "illusions" rely on camera angles, edition cuts, magnets, glue, mechanical tables, and black velvet?? I have never seen him performing with and ordinary well-shufled deck. He is a disgrace to magic and real cardicians such as Darwin Ortiz and Michael Vincent.
I saw him live with no camera angles or cuts 2 years ago in Texas ... remember this guy WON FISM for close up back in 2015 - very few magicians have that honor
Well, we can judge magic by talent and skill, or by the joy and wonder that it brings. Is Brittany Spears a good singer? Does she have talent? Maybe not as much as Pink or Miley Syrus - but then there are perhaps singers in Operas or local musicals who are even better than ALL OF THEM. But how they make us feel - the emotions that come from their performance - can also be used as way to measure their performance. Shin Lim is a "disgrace?" That seems a stretch. Some stage magicians don't do ANYTHING - they pose with long hair and wind machines - and their assistants and stage hands do all of the work. I agree Darwin and Vincent and loads of others (names only magicians know) are "technically better" but just because others are better than you - doesn't lessen you. Some forms of magic use gimmicks - others only a deck of cards and skill - but neither is "better." Eddie Van Halen used pedals to make his unique guitar sound (which some might call a cheat) he had stage lights, wardrobe and flash pots on stage - but was he a disgrace as a guitar player just because other guitar players like Peppino D’Agostino are better? Magic should be a brotherhood where we lift each other up.
@@magicorthodoxy Please, do not compare music with magic. There are two contrasting realms. On the other hand, there is a major difference between being obsequious and being supportive, and my love for the craft doesn't stop me from being objective and fair. The way you acknowledge him as a virtuoso magician because of his first prize on that staged show AGT is pathetic and discouraging for real and humble magicians who want to achieve recognition and satisfaction in a fair way.

@@magicorthodoxy yeah i was also talking about the number. He was pretty good at the "third" also.
LOL Thanks for stopping by :D
your video is to much talking.
Yep, I guess 20 minutes is a lot of talking. Sorry Mr. Lucifer
Thanks for watching
Shin Lim who?? The card guy whose "illusions" rely on camera angles, edition cuts, magnets, glue, mechanical tables, and black velvet??
I have never seen him performing with and ordinary well-shufled deck. He is a disgrace to magic and real cardicians such as Darwin Ortiz and Michael Vincent.
I saw him live with no camera angles or cuts 2 years ago in Texas ... remember this guy WON FISM for close up back in 2015 - very few magicians have that honor
@@magicorthodoxy FISM is the burocracy of magic. I have seen his act on FISM and it was as mechanical as his other performances.

Please, do not compare music with magic.
@@dreamsdreams9493 Thanks for your comments! Sorry I'm so pathetic and discouraging. :D
good review
Glad you enjoyed it
