I believe that it's a continuation of Daechwita. The cop is the peasant yoongi who grew up to become corrupt (hence the scar). Now he is overthrown by a newer version of himself. I think that is why the cop yoongi chuckled before being shot, taking in the irony of the past repeating itself.
I am so proud of Yoongi, he is a genius, his entire album is a masterpiece. Yoongi said "I recommend that you watch all the music videos for "Daechwita", "Haegeum", and "AMYGDALA" in one sitting!" and then he also mentioned in his documentary that in amygdala he wants to talk about how he got the scar on his face. Come to think of it yoongi is giving us a whole movie. He is an incredible storyteller.

This has to be a continuation from daechwita because the characters are the same. Seems like the song is basically saying our society is filled with hypocrisy, greed, and jealousy. People only support and believe in things that would benefit them. Too selfish for their own good. So although it seems like suga is the bad guy in this situation.. i don't think he truly is. The real evil people in the world are those like the king/boss who use their money and influence to benefit themselves even to the point of causing harm to society. He burns the money because it's dirty. Money that was taken in a sinful manner. He killed the king and was supported by those around him as they also believed it was for injustice. Fight the system. ~

Daechwita and Haegeum feels like lost twins because this feels like a pattern. Yoongi keeps killing off his old self (the king with a scar) when his self reaches the point of greed and corruption once again. He keeps doing it to bring himself back down to the ground so that the humble version of himself lives on instead of the one tainted with greed. He shot the king on Daechwita and shot him once again in Haegeum.
That's why he mentioned that he forgave those people who hated them and want only to stay humble.

like they knew something we don't, they know how dirty the industry works and that's why they don't get swayed so easily. They are not afraid to call out names and the industry. Slamming them for corruption and all. Taking all the risks of backlash they will get that may affect their career.....

The Yoongi with the scar is the one who killed the blond king in Daechwita, he was a mob boss. Then scarless Yoongi killed him as is referenced by Yoongi saying that this is a cycle and even the black haired Yoongi from Daechwita is capable of being corrupt.

This is one of the albums that I'll hear even 10 years from now. So powerful.
My working theory is that the police detective with the scar is the Agust D that killed the blonde king in Daechwita. He seems to have become corrupted as it looks like he’s a dirty cop. I guess he now represents the corrupt king. The criminal Yoongi doesn’t have a scar and I think he is Suga/ Min Yoongi who is finally “killing off” Agust D. As a metaphor for self reflection and changing / improving yourself, this whole trilogy (Agust D to Daechwita to D-Day) is incomparable. I love it!

The symbolism of the red chopsticks portrays a lot. he uses it to both eat AND kill. You kill to eat and you eat to live. Our own existence and survival is based on this never ending cycle.
He did the forbidden. This song is forbidden. He lighted the cigarette and actually smoked it. If you notice on k-drama if they use cigarette they most likely break it, you are not allowed to light it and most definitely not smoke it.

I find it interesting that most reactors arent mentioning agust d's smoking in this video which I took to mean a big FU to the establishment of Idols not allowed to smoke or be shown smoking anywhere but especially in MV's. Not that I advocate smoking, but the pristine image needs to be relaxed a bit for the sake of the idols themselves. It fits in with the characters he is protraying here very well.
Plus it's a shout out how everyone talked about V for doing it, these boys can't do anything hardly.

Okay, here's my crazypants theory:
After listening to Suga talk about it & watching the Road to D-DAY documentary (it's on Weverse & Disney+), I saw it like this. In Daechwita, the mad blond king was the Yoongi of the first mixtape, and the young punk that shows up was the Agust D of that time, D-2. The era of the old king is over. He's gone crazy with greed. But Yoongi has changed. The new Agust D and the old face off, and just like the young wolf kills the old to become the alpha, D-2 Agust D kills Mixtape 1 Agust D to become the new king.
Now, in Haegum, that king is actually a crooked cop. The D-2 Agust D has come just as corrupt as the first. D-Day Agust D (who, you might notice, DOES NOT HAVE THE SCAR ON HIS FACE. YOONGI HAS HEALED FROM THE HURT, ANGER AND GREED THAT ENSNARED HIM SINCE HE WAS YOUNG) steals the King's $ and wipes out his thugs -- knowing the "king" will come after him. (There's A LOT of Scarface references in this video) When the King catches D-Day, notice he's got him tied up in a BATHTUB FULL OF MONEY. King D-2 tries to drown D-Day in money, in the greed and corruption that has ruined D-2. But D-Day says, "F your money," and sets it on fire. In the end, once again, "the people," represented by King D-2's thugs, are actually on D-Day's side. And once again, the new Agust D of today kills the old Agust D of D-2, because his time is over. He's rotten and currupt, so D-Day takes him out, and becomes the new, hopefully better, king.
And goes to eat some noodles. 😁
Important note: There is ONE MORE video coming out for this album: Amygdala. Yoongi said we have to watch Daechwita, Haegum, and Amygdala in a row -- so the story ain't over yet! 🎉
