Beautiful ancient woodland, your filming is visually poetic and pure joy.
Thank you 😀
Alt-Berg are one of the few boot makers that offer a wide fitting boot, really important feature.
Amongst all the madness here comes Athena. Love the rucksack I have been looking for one to store essentials. And the colour is fab xx
Thanks Paul!
Good morning mate. Anything which helps & encourages ladies of any age to get into the hills whether solo or with others is great. I'm always happy to see evidence of this in the Lake District. As I've said before you're inspiring a lot of ladies to do just that. Lovely couple of Oslo shots too & I can't wait to be stretched out in the warm grass like you at 8:52 once more when this lockdown is all over. All the best xx
Thanks a lot! I think there are lots of women getting more into hiking and the outdoors but there’s not always a lot of content for them, so hopefully I can be a source of help 😊 while also making other gear videos for everyone! I could try force Harvey to model for a men’s hiking gear video 😅😅
@@RambleFamily Absolutely, this medium is ideal for someone with knowledge & contacts like yourself to do just that. Ha ha & why stop at Harvey - Oslo could model the latest in pet Bandanas x
You are now my go-to channel when it comes to hiking solo as a woman. How I wish I found you before I went hiking in Switzerland for the first time w/c I vlogged btw. My experience might have been better!
Aww thanks so much! ☺️
Nice photo of you too in the blue bell wood, at the end of the video.
I have this image in my head of poor Harvey following along behind you, carrying a wardrobe, filled with all your modelling outfits and the camera gear. 😂
He is going to need those energy bars by the time he arrives home.
My favorite new piece of clothing is the 2020 Patagonia Nano Air Vest. I love the idea of breathable clothes with a wide comfort temp range. In Canada we also have the MEC T3 range which is super breathable fleece at a low price point, my long term favorite for active wear.
Nice, I'll have to check out that vest :)
Really liked the orange backpack.
Very nice informative video, thank you Athena!
Nice one ....👍... didn’t see anything that would suit me 😂.... But yeah nice bit of advice for everyone regarding layers ... I have definitely been trying to tweak my layering lately.... and I find like you........you gets what you pays for ..... Relaxing video and well edited 👍👍👍
Thanks a lot, really appreciate that :)
Lovely vid. Relaxing and I like your pronunciation of Haglöfs. From a Swede. 😊
Haha I'm not sure how to pronounce it properly!
Such a well made and informative video :)
Thank you! And so glad you found it informative :)
What a beautifully photographed and edited film 🌿and the content is great 👍🏼 ((little gripe though… background musick when you are talking- meant with kindness))
Thank you for the beautiful asthetics in the video and for the explanation about your layered gear for the inbetween weather! I'm a bit late, but can you say anything about how the patagonia longsleeve holds up esp in regard to smells? When I'm outdoors I often wear clothes several times without washing in between and I fear the polyester part will make the shirt stink :) Thanks in advance!
Hi! Athena, that's a nice shot of Oslo surrounded by blue- bells, you should make an enlargement for your wall. Best wishes to all of you.
Steven.
Loved this video format, informative with pretty scenery!
Lovely scenery in this video! Especially the bit where Oslo was sitting in the flower patch 🌞 just wanted to enter the giveaway but sadly I live in Germany 😔 wish everyone that can enter good luck!
Ah I’m sorry! I’ll try do more in the future that are worldwide. Obviously with Coronavirus shipping is a little more difficult at the moment 😔
@@RambleFamily It's all good!! ✨
This is fantastic! Beautiful video
Thank you 🤗
so atmospheric video
Well made video. Hope to youbsoon again hitting the traill . Cheers
Great video. Need to go shopping now.
Beautiful setting, I like the little red riding hood look Athena haha , I wonder if it comes with optional impractical but fetching gingham lined basket ;) xMark
I can’t wait for when Outdoor Provisions are able to ship to Denmark ☺️ they look so delicious.
Another lovely and informative video 🌸
Hopefully they will soon :)
Great video, thank you for sharing, I was one of the people that requested it :) Hope you are all safe and well xxxx
So easy and really good explanations 🥰
Brilliant video. Looking forward to getting back to the mountains.
Let's say you have to cook or be around a fire. The leggings that you are wearing are they able to melt to you if a spark hits them. And if you hike you know about 550 line and how it gets when melting the ends, will your pants do the same?
Brilliant, love your videos for a relaxing lunchtime break, gets you away from the stresses of work, always gets me ready planning for my Welsh trips, liked & shared - Steve
i do like that pack, and as yellow is a must have colour haha. Its a new brand for me to check out> Thanks for the intro to Findra, good customer service and early days (Boris hikes) seem like good products
This video has such a nice aesthetic 😊
Awesome! I love your character, strong woman
Also, I found your comments on the Nula jacket very helpful; I’m also a cold mortal!
Always enjoy.
Loved it !!
Thank you!
Nice one!
I herd a woodpecker in our local woods when me and my wife went a walk not herd one since I was a kid atb paul
Ps. I carnt seem to share on my instagram ztory but ive sent it to all my followers 1×1. Thanks for sharing you adventures atb paul
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
Another nice video. On a practical point how do you protect your skin when out hiking all day? Regards Ken
What camera do you use!?!?? The clarity and colours in this are absolutely beautiful!
Thank you! For this one I used a Canon 7D ii, and I colour grade my videos with LUTs from a company called lutcompany :)
I would love to know how you make your sourdough bread!! I am in the midst of attempting to make sourdough and I've been inspired by your creations!!
Ah I do want to make a video about it soon! I'll plan one for the next couple of weeks :)
Keep up the Good work! 🤙🏽🙂
I'm so sad i can't enter the giveaway, but beautiful video and good luck to everyone that can :)
Montane and Hagloffs leggings look like cheaper versions of the Fjallraven ones, is there a difference in weight & function?
The Fjallraven ones are definitely heavier and I would wear them more for Autumn-Winter. They are really tough with reinforced knees and bum pad so better for scrambling and more 'adventurous' hikes I think. I'd also say slightly better quality especially than the Montane ones (reflected in the price) :)
I really like the look of the Millican Fraser 25, but the back length seems quite long. Do you feel that the Millican packs are good for men and women, as they have no female specific fit?
I think they're great and haven't noticed any issues, saying that I am 'above average' height for a woman at 5'7" so if you are smaller it may be something you notice more. When I'm carrying more weight, i.e. for wildcamping or doing big hillwalks I usually wear a pack designed for women :)
Athena Mellor I’m 5”6 with a long back. Sometimes women’s packs are a bit short for me (love Lowe alpine though)
What do you use to clean your boots? (send them to me, I'll do them for you, ha!)
So when you say “vest” we say T-shirt, when we say “vest” you say “gilet”...right?
Still a good well presented video hope you don't mind my opinion Athena but I like to be constructive at times.?.😃😃😃 stewart
Shame they’re all so pricey 😩 I do love the look of the leggings though.
Another good video Athena nice to see you showing people what to wear and what's available etc but I feel your becoming a bit of a advertising board for the big names remember you can get just as good gear for half the price and still be as good etc please remember the great outdoor s is to be used for everyone not just brand names all the best keep up the excellent work.?.....STEWIE
Hi, thank you for your comment, I really appreciate your constructive criticism. I also wholeheartedly agree that you don't need lots of expensive gear to enjoy the outdoors, especially when you're just starting out getting into hiking etc. When I started I used to just wear cotton leggings and tshirts, boots that were too small for me and woollen jumpers! I started investing in better quality gear as I started doing longer hillwalks and then alpine hiking and climbing as I found it important to feel comfortable in the hills. So I suppose this video reflects the gear I think is really good quality, and brands I believe in for their ethics and sustainability. I don't necessarily think that some of the cheaper brands are as good from that standpoint. I should probably have given a bit of a disclaimer at the beginning of the video that you don't need expensive gear to enjoy the outdoors BUT that if you want my personal advice on good quality gear, this is it :) thanks again, I will take the comment on board moving forward. Athena
Yeah totally agree Athena if your comfortable that all that'all that counts it a world out there to enjoy....Stewie
I think I'll give this a pass - you never know what embarrassing stuff might come up..
Sorry I don’t understand?
What are you waffling on about?
@@RambleFamily I think I'll be diplomatic on this.. If I haven't said too much already according to yo-yo..
