Simon is very straight forward about what he thinks. If it's not good in his POV, he doesn't "soften" his words to express his opinion and tell why. Funnily enough, I went to elementary school with Sara. She has been teaching dog obedience classes and doing dog shows for well over a decade. Her dog Hero and her have been training constantly since he was a pup. Believe me it is not easy to get a dog to do any tricks past sit,lay down, stay, etc... but to do flips? and know exactly what to do without her giving verbal commands? That is talent.
But you can see her mouth moving giving verbal commands throughout their performance, we as the viewers just can't hear her of course. I don't know much about training dogs and the other judges probably didn't themselves, I imagine it could seem a little underwhelming if you're close enough hearing all the commands? You can see Howie and Mel both liked the performance, but probably weren't as knowledgeable to judge it based from all of that as someone compared to say at a dog show. Still a great show regardless.
Courteney Michelle hope we can have a million hit agree so MEL will be kick out on this show ... because MEL is not good and no heart for the DOG PRESS "like" if you agree that MEL will be kick out on this show
Training a dog like this is extremely hard, all of these guys are musicians, they don't understand how hard it is to train a dog to do such amazing tricks, thank god Simon understood.
This brought me tears. I kind of didn't approve of Simon all the years but now I take all that back for just one incident like this. he's the real Judge.
Suraj V He has never been afraid of haters cause he knows what he has been doing is Right. They hate him cause they want him to Please them! I think he put on this persona of the “mean judge” on American Idol, for ratings. But once he became a household name and had his son Eric, I think he really began to show what a big softie he really is.
he saw the obvious - I know lotta people who say they train dogs, some spend many many hours a week. yet, when I visit, the dog can't be controlled. I know I am adorable, but hey - This kinda training of all dog is like 0,1% at best.
What makes this even more heart warming is the fact that simon is the hardest to impress out of all the judges yay simon saved the day he's a true hero!
I don’t think Howie really understands how much work goes into training a dog to do something like this. How difficult it is on the owner/trainer as well as the dog to teach them to do things like this, and how amazing it really is to bring it all together like this. And then to have the dog perform on stage in front of SO many people - with all of the cheering and distractions - yet still stay focused on the task at hand and pull it all off like this. It’s awesome to see a judge who actually understands what he just witnessed and sees how amazing it really is, then fights the other judges for them. Bravo to Simon for standing up for this amazing pair! (Obviously this was 5 years ago and I’m really late in seeing this…but still 😂)
Training a dog as well as Hero takes a REALLY long time. Just getting a dog to roll is a task I can barely get my dog to learn. Thank you Simon for helping her get through because she deserved it
Although I liked the act and I think it was awesome and I like that she still got through, I don't like your argumentation. So what if it takes a lot of time? That doesn't automatically mean it's a talent.
OGSankai It does mean it is talent, that dog can do things most dogs can't. So yeah, it is talent. It's like one person can't sing, whilst the other can.
To teach a dog to sit isn't a talent. Quite easy. To teach a dog a whole choreographed routing as the one shown in this video, does take a developed talent in the trainer as much as the dog. This performance was very well done and themed.
Samuel F Gonzalez Rivera For what it's worth, canine musical freestyle acts similar to this have WON Britain's Got Talent....twice I believe. So YES it's a talent, YEARS of hard work, and clearly Simon recognized it for what it is from his time on BGT.
OGSankai you obviously have never done dog obedience/agility. I've been training my dog for over 6 months now (I know, that isn't very long but I still have the experience). It takes her several weeks to learn things like finishes, recalls, long sit/down stays, proper heeling position, how to do an agility course, etc. Those are only simple tricks. What the dog did in this video is incredible and I'd imagine it takes years of training, a very intelligent dog and an extremely patient owner to do that. It _is_ talent. Not everybody sees that though, probably because they've either never owned a dog or they've never done training on a professional level.
Simon has a heart, the deal about Simon is that he has an "eye" for talent... Or you have talent or you don't. That's what Simon see. If no one see, but Simon see, there is talent for sure...
@@EddyParera123 Every judge is always a fresh face, Simon is a goddamn legend, he's the Chef Ramsey of judges. He's seen enough to know right away what is worth it
ikr, I came here because I saw her get into the finals, and watching the judges almost stop her right from the start... amazed me. One of those cases where some of the judges are dead wrong. A act that gets a standing ovation from everyone the crowd, is a good act.
Looking back, Mel's explanation doesn't even make sense. The entire performance showcased many different talents, and some of the best stuff with the sword was right at the beginning.
vTaymin Simon loves animals so he know everything about animals he know its hard to train dogs that good but other judges dnt its not about liking her its about his passion about animals :)
I LOVE dogs, I really liked the girl, and I especially loved this dog.... the act however didn't move me one bit :D and was boring to me :) ............. I loved Simon though ! :D

The reason why people dont really appreciate Heidi is because she already loves dogs and she would have said yes and she's nowhere close to even say no, just like Simon
THIS WAS NOT A MILLION DOLLAR ACT, THIS WAS NOT AN ACT THAT DESERVED TO GO PAST AUDITION. You are just another offended animal lover. You fit in the same category as offended women!
TheBeavergay no one is saying its a million dollar act.... they are saying the judge's are hypocrites when they send talentless morons through then say no to people like this
lets be honest here. He wouldn't have done it if she was some fat ugly slob. Don't get me wrong here, I'm SOOOOO glad he saved her. The woman's look and charisma had lots to do with Simon coming for her rescue.
This is probably one of the most amazing things I've seen in awhile. Howie says "I guess people like dogs". It has nothing to do with liking an animal. The amount of effort it must take to train a dog to do that, and having a dog able to do that is amazing. Never knew Howie was so one dimensional
its not really just about how hard and how much work and training you have to do. none of that matters if the performance is "meh". it's not a million dollar act or anything (entertainment-wise).
+Are Rarah savant the act not worth a million dollar? it's early for you to judge the act if it's worthy for a million dollar plus you must be stupid auditioning then show everything you got. that act is not a meh but fantastic as simon said, watch the dog not just the girl he has talent worthy for next round.
Honestly I'm not a dog trainer but to me this is more impressive than a dog just standing on 2 legs or doing backflips. This was a long routine done flawlessly with some things I've never seen before and great creativity. Usually Howie loves this stuff so I was really surprised. Glad Simon stepped in.
Versatile Toasty did you not watch the whole thing, literally Simon went on stage and wanted Howe to change his mine since Mel was for sure going to say no and bc Simon thought this chicks act "is talent" so don't be blaming Howie he said he didn't see much of an amazing act so when Simon came in stage he didn't want to hurt the chicks feelings which Idc about I personally blame Simon on this I saw no talent🙄🙄
Simon as a judge is always very honest. And often, this means he can come across more rude than most would like. But he also recognizes talent super quickly. This moment, however, he wasn't a judge. This is one of the moments where Simon turns on father mode. And it shows his true self.
I'm really glad simon realized that this show WASN'T about doing some death defying tricks with a dog. This was much more to put on a show and exhibit just how far training a dog can go! And honestly, if the judges see a reaction like that from the crowd? They can't just say "oh I want to see more though there's no demand for this" the ENTIRE audience was cheering. I believe in cases like this, where true talent is shown off and the judges vote no, the audience should be able to override the vote, within reason of course. Like just imagine the only two people in the ENTIRE stadium not enjoying the act being the judges.
I cried for her when they said no like come on give her a break not only did she have to come up with that she had to train her dog too! So thank u Simon!
Howie doesnt understand how freakin long it takes to train a dog to simply jump. To do a whole choreographed skit and do it perfectly must take lots of time and care from the owner and the dog. To say no to that is like not being proud of your own son graduating college or destroying the dreams of a child that just came true.
A) What can that dog do for an encore if training new bits is so difficult? B) It takes a long time and a steady hand to set up thousands of dominoes to be toppled, but would that qualify as top talent? Length of effort shouldn't be a factor in judging an act.
spongebob swag pants that might be true my my border collies are dumbasses and don't even know how to fetch correctly he brings the ball halfway to me and then just sits there, but I love them
Simon made me cry! This woman put HEAPS more effort into her act than any of the singers did. Personally, I AMA singer, and this takes WAY more talent! I'm so happy Simon helped her!
Honestly you see in most auditions Simon is a tough judge I used to think he was mean to most of the performers but this video proofs he has a kind heart and Mel B showed her opinion but thank goodness Simon saved her I think she seems really nice and the way Simon saved her was really kind
I think Howie was thinking of human acrobats: doing multiple flying backflips, balancing on one hand in the air, etc. Dude..this is a dog. If you knew how many years of training, or intense hours of training, it took to get that dog to that point you would be more receptive to the performance. That dogs movements were tight, it did not lose intensity or be distracted during the performance. That's well trained. Howie was apparently expecting the dog to balance the owner on its nose or sing the first stanza of an opera ballad or something.
Also, Howie said yes to the group of dogs that performed in (I think) week 2 and they didn't really do anything special. Sure it was cool but in my opinion this was so much cooler.
How could they give them a no? If you had a dog it is so damn hard to teach him things. it just amazes me how people are so care free and just think about the performance instead of how hard they worked to reach their level
This was absolutely one of my favorite auditions with a dog. I’ve never seen anything like this before, so I thought it was cool. I mean a sword fight between a dog and their owner. That’s amazing. Great job Simon. Howie and Mel don’t understand how long it takes to train dogs to do this kind of thing. Years and years of practice. Sara and Hero, you are amazing and awesome. I cried along with her.
I just finished watching this episode and this young lady made me cry. She's such a pure, innocent soul, and God bless Simon for standing up for her. Favorite act so far, if she doesn't make it far on the show, I really really hope something good comes out of this experience for her!!!!
I can’t imagine how much time and hard work it took to train that dog. Howie and Mel B just don’t understand what it takes to have real talent. They pass through acts that have ZERO talent, but when true talent is put right in front of them they say no.. I think one of the reasons Simon is so strict and picky about what he likes is because he doesn’t want to put hope in something he doesn’t truly see as succeeding. He’s put through more talent and success than all of the other coaches combined.
As someone who trained my own service dog, I just want to say that this level of obedience, focus, and skill is ridiculously impressive. This wasn't something they threw together overnight. If they can let little kids singing through, this should have been an immediate yes from all of the judges. P.S. The fact that dog stood still at her side throughout all of the loud noises, bright lights, and large crowd without being tethered on a leash. Service dog handlers aspire to that. Bonus because the dog is a herding breed.
When Simon steps up like that, he definitely knows what he is doing. He is an experienced judged and is very critical in his thoughts. I understand different people have different ways of thinking but Howie (not really but somewhat) and Mel B should think about the effort that Sarah has put in to train Hero. I mean, training a dog is not easy, especially when it is going to perform live on television. I appreciate Simon for stepping up to what he believes in and I think Simon is my favourite judge for being so kind and genuine at the same time for being a critical judge for the past 2 seasons on AGT, BGT and X-Factor. It is amazing how he changed over the seasons. Props to Sarah for not being all FVCK YOU ALL YOU GUYS SUCK and stuff like that. She's a good sport and deserves all the love in the world for accepting Howie's and Mel B's opinions even though she herself is not comfortable with it, AND TO THAT AMAZING DOG ROUTINE (I myself can only teach myself how to eat okays). Okay my cringey and cheesy essay is done bye yalls.
This was an amazing act. Mel & Howie probably never had a dog in their life, that's why they couldn't comprehend how much time and discipline it took for Hero (the dog) and his owner to master this dance sequence. Not everyone is a dog person I guess. Props to Simon for standing up and saying something.
When I first watched this on television I was reacting exactly like simon and would've done the same thing, I was so furious and almost cried when she did. Some of the acts Mel B and Howie say yes to are even way worse than this act unbelievable. Thank simon for this much respect and well deserved
the thing is, training a dog is actually very difficult so Sara definitely deserves all 4 yes's, we know people have their own opinion but i just don't think Howie and Mel realized how hard it is and how talented they were.
Training a dog to sit, stay, and not fight with other dogs, takes a pretty good amount of time. Getting a dog to get use to a cheering crowd, and do that, I can't even gess at how long that took. Simon made the right call.
I love Simon his so honest and awesome. sometimes an asshole but hey who isn't😂.... it's the first time I've seen him do something like this that was sweet 💜
Well, Simon has been shown to be quite the sucker for animal acts, particularly dogs. But she and her dog really did deserve to go forward, and I'm very proud of Simon for doing that; and that is coming from someone who generally isn't a fan of him.
Proof that Simon is truly devoted to not ruining dreams, but spotting potential talent and making sure it's fully expressed.

lets be honest here. He wouldn't have done it if she was some fat ugly slob. Don't get me wrong here, I'm SOOOOO glad he saved her. The woman's look and charisma had lots to do with Simon coming for her rescue.
swifty1969 you're probably not wrong about that *sigh*
Don't forget he's a huge dog person too, though. It's the fact the act includes a dog too. Might not be the sole reason, but still
swifty1969 But then again, when have you *ever* seen a fat ugly slob perform with a dog successfully? I've never seen it.
I can see her and this dog touching millions of children's heart. God bless Simon that was very kind.
The fact that Simon stood up, and literally mocked the other judges...massive +1
Ikr
Honestly I'm not a dog trainer but to me this is more impressive than a dog just standing on 2 legs or doing backflips. This was a long routine done flawlessly with some things I've never seen before and great creativity. Usually Howie loves this stuff so I was really surprised. Glad Simon stepped in.
it was boring
Simon know's more about talent than any of those judges combined
Xtralife 1 true! lol
he's been around a looong time.. he knows the scoop.. he goes with the audience now.. brilliant..
Xtralife 1 HOW THE FUCK IS THIS TALENT YOURE A FUCKING IDIOT IF YOU THINK THIS IS TALENT
Xtralife 1 True.... 😊
MentalSteve stupid ass I'd like to see you try that
*scrolls down*
"WELCOME TO THE ROAST OF HOWIE AND MEL"
Lol, so true! XD
XJ G lol 😂 true!.. it did felt SO STAGED though!
edit: is staged aka like all reality show 💩
Howie needs to sit tf down 😤
then this bald headed motherfucker suddenly changes his mind cause it makes him look good smh fuck that 😠
Mel B is a simpleton
Yeah fr instead of being grumpy and being rude to other acts
I'm really glad simon realized that this show WASN'T about doing some death defying tricks with a dog. This was much more to put on a show and exhibit just how far training a dog can go!
And honestly, if the judges see a reaction like that from the crowd? They can't just say "oh I want to see more though there's no demand for this" the ENTIRE audience was cheering. I believe in cases like this, where true talent is shown off and the judges vote no, the audience should be able to override the vote, within reason of course.
Like just imagine the only two people in the ENTIRE stadium not enjoying the act being the judges.
Oh hell, Simon was f***ing her or he wouldn't have went that far for a dog act
Just found out after watching this that she's from the my town. Small world. So happy Simon stepped up for her, her and Hero deserved it.
Jay B. North bay?
When she started to cry I started to cry
yes.. it's contagious.
Omfg yes
Words cannot express how happy I am that Sara & Hero made it to the finals.
That boo after he said Mel killed me
Simon Cowell does have dogs so he does know how amazing it is to get a dog to do these complicated tricks in a row.
I cried for her when they said no like come on give her a break not only did she have to come up with that she had to train her dog too! So thank u Simon!
I love that they're in the finals. They almost didn't get in but I am so happy Simon saw their potential
I cried with her.
GamerzProz™ Same here, she was so kind , i mean when they were saying no , she was like that's ok, but then that was waaay to much for her to support.
I know it's insane how they think that they have so much talent, but she had alot.
This right here is why Simon commands the most respect of all the judges on any platform, the man gat eyes, he sees what no other judges sees 🙌
I love that he did that for her.:)
the way simon holds her hand and embraces her, fights for her, aww so sweet!
Simon is a hero
Victoria Ayala For the first time, am I right?
Howie doesnt understand how freakin long it takes to train a dog to simply jump. To do a whole choreographed skit and do it perfectly must take lots of time and care from the owner and the dog. To say no to that is like not being proud of your own son graduating college or destroying the dreams of a child that just came true.
Brandon Lee THIS!
It's a border collie. It's easier to train them than any other dog because they're the smartest dogs in the world but I agree that its really tough
Brandon Lee
yes i do agree its really tough to train a dog .. u need to have lots of patience...
Omg...simon is a good man..love him so much.
Honestly you see in most auditions Simon is a tough judge I used to think he was mean to most of the performers but this video proofs he has a kind heart and Mel B showed her opinion but thank goodness Simon saved her I think she seems really nice and the way Simon saved her was really kind
yeah I can't agree more. A dog lover from VN btw
He's not mean. When it comes to talent he is a bit strict. But this proves that he is strict but fair.
Probably the first time I've actually agreed with Simon. LOL.
Agree. he should has give golden buzzer for this act. Not for people with sad story like what he did before.
Anyway. sorry. poor english
No, I mean it was nice how he got up there to support her. But yes, he should've pressed the gold buzzer. :)
HERO WAS SUCH AS GOOD BOY!!! HOW CAN YOU SAY NO YOU MONSTER
Simon Cowell is an absolute legend.
You know something is good when Simon says it's good.😉
You know its good when Simon Cowell yes.
300th like
It's because Howie has Sprint, and no user in the history of Sprint has gotten good reception. But yeah, I get what you mean.
ancientloredude PREACH🙌 I used to train my dogs to do stuff compared to this and it took me a year to even get somewhere
There's been 3 animal acts so far THIS YEAR that make this look like shit. What the fuck are you talking about this dog did nothing special.
4:37 hero wagged his tail when Simon said hero awwwww
How could they give them a no? If you had a dog it is so damn hard to teach him things. it just amazes me how people are so care free and just think about the performance instead of how hard they worked to reach their level
Gamessoph I've had my dog for 2 years and I can't even get him to sit 😂😂
Gamessoph 👏👏👏👏👏exactly
^lmao
On from this day on, she met a new hero ,and that's Simon.
Awwww Simon, what a gem!!
This was so so incredible I kinda wanna cry omg
well, i cried xd
Mr Boogie u certainly did not
EAids16 He probably did because even I did and I don't know why
I just finished watching this episode and this young lady made me cry. She's such a pure, innocent soul, and God bless Simon for standing up for her. Favorite act so far, if she doesn't make it far on the show, I really really hope something good comes out of this experience for her!!!!
Megan Hodes me.too
the dog is beautiful
edit:Thank u fer all de likes!
That was some serious shade LOL
It costs so little to be kind.
There were two Heroes on the stage that night. Well played, Sir.
This it THE BEST PART of AGT I've ever watch...
Thank you Simon...
Simon will always be my favorite judge. Behind his strict facade he puts on, he really is a kind, caring and humble guy. Your amazing Simon!
He also puts on plastic
This is why the golden buzzer shouldn't be wasted on somebody who you KNOW is going to advance.
In-N-Out Ikr
1:32 Simon looking at the judges like "when tf u gonna stand up?"
Hahahah
xD
And now she's in the finals... I really hope she wins and i know she will! Praying for your victory sara and hero😉
Mr.Sunshine yeah, I can't even get my dog to stop barking all the time
When I first watched this on television I was reacting exactly like simon and would've done the same thing, I was so furious and almost cried when she did. Some of the acts Mel B and Howie say yes to are even way worse than this act unbelievable. Thank simon for this much respect and well deserved
This made me cry
same. i cried.... mel is a terrible person
Simon Cowell is the best person I've ever seen!
That woman is precious
the thing is, training a dog is actually very difficult so Sara definitely deserves all 4 yes's, we know people have their own opinion but i just don't think Howie and Mel realized how hard it is and how talented they were.
I Would Have Given Her A Golden Buzzer
To be honest, I thought Simon was actually going to run on stage to save *the life* of the dog trainer 'after the sword act went wrong' :p
Mr Email same
I feel bad agreeing, but, yep, I thought the exact same thing :I
Mr Email I thought that aswell ;P
Mr Email omg same
LOL SAME. I was looking for a warning in the description.
After Watching this video my respect for Simon Cowell increased a lot more ❤
I thought Simon was gonna press the gold buzzer!! Anyone else?
KyndallLee they only get 1 golden buzzer press, and he used his on the deaf singer
Omg that is why I love Simon
Training a dog to sit, stay, and not fight with other dogs, takes a pretty good amount of time. Getting a dog to get use to a cheering crowd, and do that, I can't even gess at how long that took. Simon made the right call.
I love Hero and Sara. . . I also had tears flowing down my face watching this . . .just as well for Simon "being on the ball."
I am with Simon agree(for the first time)
thats why i love Simon Cowell. 100000000000 likes.
Simon has always been my favorite, and now people understand why. He has great humor, and beneath the shade he throws, he has a heart.
I love Simon his so honest and awesome. sometimes an asshole but hey who isn't😂.... it's the first time I've seen him do something like this that was sweet 💜
it's because of his kid
Yeah it was very heart warming
Well, Simon has been shown to be quite the sucker for animal acts, particularly dogs. But she and her dog really did deserve to go forward, and I'm very proud of Simon for doing that; and that is coming from someone who generally isn't a fan of him.
Jasmine Ortiz IKR I THINK HE IS MY FAVORITE JUDGE
Having a child really changed Simon. My goodness, he is like a completely different person.
