Buddy Jack Robert’s was great. He was the member who could take the beatings and be humiliated without killing their heat. He was great on the mic and is really underrated as an in ring worker.
@@JamesBuddell-fn6bz I saw the Freebirds before Buddy and can honestly say they needed him . They were so much better with him leading the match , Gordy cleaning house and Michael getting heat on the mic . People don’t realize that for the first couple of years he was a Bird he was the in ring general of the team . His experience was a huge factor in the Birds success
Terry Gordy...one of my all-time favorites! Growing up in Dallas, the Freebirds / Von Erich feud was such an awesome thing to watch! LOL....that Buddy Roberts headgear gimmick still cracks me up. It's pretty incredible how much heat the Freebirds generated...the Blinding the Dog angle was huge!
Terry Bam Bam gordy was as strong as any big men in wrestling. the freebirds needed an enforcer. he was the right man for the job. Awesome documentary. great job 👏
This early history of Terry and Michael explains why Michael, to this day, has such an unwavering love for Terry. He wrote a song called "Freebird Road" for Terry, and shot some of the video at Terry's grave. As a lifelong WCCW and Von Erich fan, I don't think WCCW would have become the smash hit it was without the Fabulous Freebird's coming on board. That's really when it exploded, and it was fantastic! Rest in peace, Bam Bam
It got me thinking about a "What if" scenario. What if Terry didn't leave with Michael over the pay dispute? It would have changed years of wrestling history.
I remember watching the free birds and von erichs sale out major sports areas 50 or 60 thousand fans that was a bunch of cash and they done it all over Texas.
Harry Thorntons NWA wrestling show with Nick Gulas is where I first saw Terry....and was a huge fan ever since. Nothing but LOVE and RESPECT. Thanks for the video.
I learned through this Terry Gordy video that, there were some great wrestlers who wrestled in World Class Championship Wrestling but did not wrestle in the WWF
Opening footage is from Monday,12/27/1982 (WCCW ) Fort Worth, Texas: Will Rogers Coliseum: WCCW Referee' Bronco Lubich: TV Time Remaining Match :King Kong Bundy battled Freebird Terry Gordy to Time Limit Draw
That is the right date, but it's not a body slam match. It was just TV time remaining. It's only about six minute long and ends in a time limit draw. Not a lot to it. They spend about half the match in a referee's stance pushing each other back and forth.
One huge loss of the 1980s was not bringing in the Freebirds to feud with the Horsemen in the late 80s/early 90s when they still were a 3 person team. I think that could have drawn BIG money but timing just never worked out and by the time all the right pieces were in place the Freebirds were a shell. of their former glory with it being Micheal and Jimmy Garvin.
When I think of Terry Gordy,I think of World Class Championship Wrestling
I think of Midsouth . Its where they got their first big push and third member Dale Hay , Buddy Roberts

They had an incredible run and Gordy had an amazing life in wrestling. This one took a long time but it was worth it.
Buddy Roberts getting heat with the sparring helmet is classic old school wrasslin heel sh!t, I love it😂

I love Bam Bam. He is the best big man of all time! RIP Brother
Gordy has been in my top 5 favorite wrestlers since the early '80's. Used to see him live weekly when he was UWF champion. A true natural.
His Japan work is legendary for a reason. He is an all time great professional wrestler
Keep these up please. You’re doing a great job!
Thanks, will do!
I named my one boy dog Terry Gordy Junior Jr. (He has sisters). A big ol' lug of a sweetheart. I named him well.
Keep yer pooch clear of the hooch , then because after about 10 beers Terry wasn’t so cuddly . 😝😜
Thanks! I really enjoyed thus. Excellent history and a education 👏
I tried to reply to this but I guess it didn't go through. I appreciate that. It took a lot of work and hopefully I did him justice.
Thanks for the upload
This is great! Thanks for the upload.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Took a lot of bumps in his career. Started too young at the end it caught up to the big man .
Good video, thank you for your great work!

Go back and watch some of the Iceman King Parsons matches and interviews and you definitely see where The Rock got a lot of his influence.
Can we get A Mongolian Stomper I'm from Knoxville and herd stories just wanna know if you got anything
I may eventually branch out and do wrestlers from other territories. Right now I'm just concentrating on guys that appeared in World Class .

Terry Gordy and Dr Death Steve Williams were great tag team partners.

Gordy was God's gift to wrestling
And this. And all of it.
The freebirds and the Von Eric's had rivalries
Piledriver, kick out, piledriver, kick out etc. etc.
Lol
